  • Cuts to Ambulance Service
Following an accident involving a 20mth old child we required urgent medical assistance. We waited 35 minutes for the ambulance to attend. We were horrified to learn that the service for Yate & Chipping Sodbury had been drastically cut and that the ambulance had to come from central Bristol. The lack of ambulances available is putting the population of Yate & Chipping Sodbury at risk. We want to see adequate ambulances for our area with the appropriate response times. 35 minutes is simply not good enough.

  • Urgent please help to save The Railway Inn Fourstones
If you remember in the last petition I outlined that this is the village pub, its been neglected by a succession of owners - I understand the community and others have offered to buy the pub, its a community asset that over 200 people signed this petition last time to keep it. There has been little done to make this into a viable going concern, but the current owner has applied to have it converted into a house. Has anyone really tried to make this pub work by connecting to the needs of the local community or was it never the intent to continue to run this as a pub all all ? Does this sound familiar ? It’s sad that the pub has been closed for such a long time - dont let it end up being closed for good - We need your help to stop this - please log on to Northumberland County Council Planning Website and make your voice heard against new Planning application No: 18/02349/FUL COMMENTS MUST BE MADE BY 30th AUGUST. If Planning is denied and the pub reopens, we need a partnership between the community and the owner in making this work.

  • keep Siphewe in uk
Ms Siphiwe Moyo has been refused permission to stay in the uk, She has worked hard here for a long time, she has paid taxes and has been doing a very worthwhile caring job with a quadraplegic lady. Her appeal against this decision has failed and she has to appeal again. She has paid for her own legal costs throughout. I believe the decision to deport her is morally wrong, and I appeal to as many people as possible to sign this petition. Thank you

  • Save the Ceiling Mural at The Barge Inn, Honey Street
This gorgeous pub is just different. There is no other place like it in the world. It's where I learned the true meaning of the word 'community'. The mural captures its essence in a way nothing else physical can. If the mural is painted over, some of that magic will be lost. The visionary artist who painted this mural put his talent and love into the piece and captured the magic perfectly. Please help us to save it!

  • Keep our Award winning Cheddar Campsite open!
Our family business Petruth Paddocks Campsite generates around £1M annual revenue for Cheddar and the surrounding area. Owing to the Environment Agency reclassifying our land as a flood risk, Sedgemoor Council have served an enforcement notice to shut us down from next year - the land has not flooded in living memory! We have Appealed this decision and a full Public Inquiry is due to take place in 2018 costing both us and the Council around £75,000 each! Even Somerset's Civil Contingency Officer - the person ultimately responsible for the safety of those in Somerset has put in writing: "I am satisfied that the proposal for the continuation of use of the land for camping does not put the public at risk, provided the warning measures laid out in the report are adhered to. I have no objections to this proposal” Read about why our retrospective planning permission was REFUSED here: http://www.sedgemoor.gov.uk/Planning_Online/Details.aspx?App=17/15/00037 Comments have to be made by August 10th it only takes a couple of minutes - just click on this link: https://acp.planninginspectorate.gov.uk/ and enter the case number: 3170189 thanks! We have over 2000 positive reviews and last year won four awards - one even sponsored by the Council trying to shut us down! Petruth Paddocks is an environment where kids can be kids and where the rest of us can step off the hamster-wheel of everyday life and simply chill-out - whatever that means to whoever you are but usually around a camp-fire delivered to your flap! As a family Petruth Paddocks is our passion and vocation - it's what we were created to do and we love it! We have a wonderful team - 6 full-time and 10 part time and over 15000 customers a year - many of whom return year on year. Don't take our word for it, read what they say: https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g186371-d6416672-Reviews-Petruth_Paddocks-Cheddar_Somerset_England.html Thank you so much for your support - it means the world to us! • Save Our Sheltered Housing Wardens
Glasgow City Council has announced that it is cutting all funding to the Housing Support Budget. This means that our vulnerable elderly residents of Glasgow will be without the vital warden support which they currently receive. The warden is a life line for people who have very little or no family and support, enabling them to live not only as independent a life as they possibly can, but simply to live! Without this support, many people would sit lonely for days, weeks or months with absolutely no contact. Our elderly residents will end up completely neglected as GP's do not routinely check on their older patients and are stretched to the limits themselves. Imagine sitting all alone, no one bothering with you or even knowing you exist. Just think how frightened you would feel if this was you, just waiting to die because no one cares. How dare the Council treat our Elderly people like this! Please sign this petition and help save our wardens and show our older people you care about them. Thanks for your support.

  • The right to know the outcome of Election Expense Fraud Allegations regardless of election rules
A spokesperson for the CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) confirmed to the Independent this week that charges would have to be made before the general election on 8 June. However, due to "election rules" the CPS may be unable to make a public announcement about any formal charges. The public may therefore end up being none the wiser if their prospective MP has been charged. There are ongoing electoral fraud investigations against a substantial number of Conservative MPs. Not only do these allegations have pointed implications for this election, but there are also wider lessons on campaign spending that still need to be learnt. Just last month the Electoral Commission handed out the largest fine in its history - £70,000 - to the Conservatives for violating electoral law. This came after a 13-month long investigation into the party’s campaign spending during by-elections in 2014 and the general election in 2015. Far from this record fine marking the end of the saga, criminal charges are at this very moment being considered by the Crown Prosecution Service against at least 30 individuals in the Conservative party. Many of them are currently MPs, many of them will be candidates in this election, and many of them could be re-elected. This can NOT be allowed to happen; we have a right to the information so that we can make a fully informed decision! http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/alexandra-runswick/election-expenses_b_16146174.html

  • Make the Secretary of State for Health use only the NHS.
A Secretary of State for Health who does not have to resort to the NHS, for care has no incentive to ensure the service is as good as it should be. They will never personally have to bear the consequences of their official decisions. They will also not truly understand the experience of the vast majority of the public who have no other choice. The salary attached to the job of Secretary of State of around £135,000 p.a. plus expenses enables them to afford the privilege of private health care, a privilege which is well beyond the rest of the population where the median household disposable income for 2014/15 was £25,600. Press reports repeatedly tell us that the NHS is in crisis and recent and unprecedented strikes by junior doctors show that the professionals on which we rely so heavily have been driven to extreme action. A Secretary of State for Health who faces the same long waits for treatment in overcrowded surgeries and hospitals, or cancelled operations because of inadequate resources will be incentivised to make the right decisions for the majority.

  • Enclosed Dog Space, Danson Park
Many dog owners are unable to let their dogs off lead, a good example is our beagle who is not yet great at recall. Enclosed spaces would allow for more exercise without the worry of not seeing them again. We have some great open spaces in Bexley but none that provide this.

  • Needham Market Train Station - Accessible To All!
Despite significant ‘improvements’ to Needham Market Railway Station in recent years (costing over £700,000) access to the Ipswich-bound platform remains by steep underground stairway only – a physical challenge for passengers with limited mobility, with buggies, bikes, or heavy suitcases, and an impossibility for wheelchair users. Additionally, the new ramp from the car park to the Cambridge-bound platform is well above the maximum 1 in 12 gradient required to comply with Building Regulations, creating further significant problems for wheel chair users. Needham Market is a growing town with large new estates planned for hundreds of homes over the next few years. Abellio East Anglia Limited (trading as Greater Anglia) claims to be committed to complying with its obligations under the Equality Act 2010, and pledges to make its services accessible to all. Abellio has a ten year contract to run our trains and stations and so has no excuse not to make full access an urgent priority. Please sign our petition and support this local campaign. Thank you!
