Save the cwmparc post officeThis is very important, as the service we have should be in a central location, and not be relagated further down the valley than it already has been housed.81 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Margaret Rees

Demand public apology from Sun & Daily MailIn the aftermath of the recent Manchester bombing and the London Bridge atrocity, The Daily Mail published a front page headline and a 13 page campaign against Jeremy Corbyn's inner circle and The Sun newspaper simultaneously published a libellous front page article entitled "Jezza's Jihadi Comrades", one day before polling stations opened for the General Election. These actions had the clear aim of influencing public opinion to believe there was a link between Jeremy Corbyn and Jihadism. These actions are highly inflammatory as they prey on a heightened state of public fear against Islam as well as potentially undermining the UK election campaign as a whole. We call on The Daily Mail and The Sun to issue an immediate public apology to Jeremy Corbyn.3,412 of 4,000 SignaturesCreated by Maeve Mackinnon

RELOCATE POLLING STATION IN LECKHAMPTONHosting a Polling Station at Leckhampton CofE Primary School raises safeguarding issues, places school staff under additional pressure, creates more administration and disrupts the school day. The school could close to overcome these issues but this would be unnecessary if an alternative location (such as Leckhampton Village Hall or Glebe Cottages, St Peter's Leckhampton) was used as a Polling Station. We reserve our right to appeal to The Electoral Commission against any decisions of the Returning Officer.22 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Amie Lidbetter

Transparency for fashionThe fashion industry is renowned for being the 4th most polluting industry in the world, While some companies have admirably already started to focus their efforts on sustainability, I am concerned that real change will not be effected without government intervention. Without state regulation, there is very little, or nothing, to oblige companies to adopt better work ethics and ensure that the production process follows a moral and ethical code. We are unlikely to inspire change within the fashion industry without an incentive or government supported initiative. Taking tobacco consumerism as an example, studies have found that there was little change in people’s habits simply by printing warnings on cigarette packets. However, once the UK government took steps to ban smoking in public places the number of smokers dropped significantly. I would urge the British government and the European Parliament to consider the imposition of regulation within the fashion industry, to include production, environmental protection and working conditions. If we consider fast fashion for a moment, have you ever really given thought to the practices that companies must engage in overseas in order to produce such vast amounts of clothing on a large scale, still managing to sell them to consumers at £2-£5 per piece and yet also retain profitability? Fast fashion aside, how do luxury brands manage the huge quantities of waste they produce and how do they dispose of it? Many do not turn their mind to these matters because they are not within eye's reach. However, as a leading country in the Western world where we are increasingly concerned with climate change, where we pride ourselves on human rights and where we have enacted new laws to tackle slavery in the modern world, we have a duty to ensure that the things we consume (whether produced nationally or internationally) all meet a standard that we should be entitled to expect. It is time to encourage a political dialogue between the government and the fashion industry. Do not turn Hillside Park playing field, Bodmin, into a car park.It is the only public access sports area in West Bodmin. There is no indication they would replace it. Bodmin is already an air pollution management area. The traffic fumes in the area of the car park will remain at the bottom of the valley and increase the already existing air pollution problem.437 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Elaine Nwajei

Anglesey Says No to PylonsThis petition is relevant to all rural communities who face new electricity transmission lines due to the growth of nuclear and renewable energy Anglesey is a rural, island community in North Wales, with a small population. Income and house prices are well below the national average. Agriculture and tourism are vital to the local economy. We oppose National Grid’s proposal due to the impact on: 1 - The landscape - which will adversely affect tourism 2 - Property prices - which will not be compensated 3 - Health - there is growing evidence of adverse effects of electro-magnetic fields (EMFs) 4 - Farming - leading agricultural organisations are opposed If Ofgem considered these impacts, National Grid would use underground or subsea cables. Screen Michael Sheen's Hay festival speech on the eve of the General ElectionOn June 3rd, Michael Sheen gave a powerful and soul searching speech about the state of the United Kingdom today. At 2pm today it was made available to view online: https://www.hayfestival.com/p-12504-michael-sheen.aspx?skinid=16 Michael combined history, philosophy, poetry and literature to set out a powerful vision of society that has people at its centre. Here is a quote: ''When those at the top have a vision of society that has people at its heart and that humane vision forms the basis of their policy then that humanity spreads throughout the whole society. 'When those at the top see people merely as numbers, as votes, monetary units, commodities, figures on a chart, anything but living and breathing human beings who love and who hope and who suffer, then that de-humanisation leaks out and trickles down and festers among us all like a poisonous mould.' The British public has been starved of in-depth, soundbite free, analysis of the state of our society during this election. Michael Sheen's speech provides this with gusto and eloquence. Channel 4 is the only public service broadcaster with the courage to screen a lecture of this magnitude. A screening of this speech, in full with no breaks for advertising, could have a profound impact on the future of this country. If screened at 9pm on the 7th June, it would take the place of the excellent 24 hours in A&E. Given the content of this speech and its honouring of the founder of NHS, this seems fitting and would, we hope, be supported by the viewers and producers of 24 hours in A&E. 1.3 million people tuned into 24 hours in A&E last week. If a tenth of that sign this petition we hope Channel 4, The Hay Festival and Michael Sheen himself can make a prime time, General Election eve, screening happen. --- This petition was started by an individual and carries no affiliation to any political parties, organisations, businesses or Michael Sheen himself. Local Authority funding for The Tree ClubThe children that attend the Tree Club have complex needs that include communication difficulties, requirement of personal care, sensory and processing difficulties, and challenging behaviour. To support them and to meet the requirements of regulatory bodies such as the Care Inspectorate we provide a high staffing ratio and in depth training. This is a significant cost to the organisation that simply can’t be met by parent fees. Our children have very few opportunities to access mainstream clubs and activities, if any. The Tree Club aims to bridge this gap. We endeavour to meet all our children/young people’s individual care plans. These plans detail the requirements for each young person to meet their full potential in relation to social and well-being targets. The Tree Club monitors and develops these plans, and supports each child’s individual outcomes, through carefully thought-out accessible activities, which focus on peer interaction, enhancing abilities and most important of all – providing fun play. The Tree Club allows parents and carers to access quality and affordable after school care, matching the similar mainstream provision, that is unfortunately inaccessible for our children. We also provide holiday schemes, allowing carers greater choices to be able to either access or support their ability to work, or support respite and/or quality time for our young people’s siblings. We offer this respite which for most of our service users’ families is impossible to source elsewhere. This service provides a break from caring, an opportunity to recharge their batteries and a support network to discuss issues and behaviour techniques and coping strategies and reduces the social isolation they face.555 of 600 SignaturesCreated by Maria Smith

Reverse the decision to close the Flour Mill Pond to anglersThis decision affects everyone in the village of Greenfield, where the Flour Mill pond has been fished for decades with no reporting of fishers injuring themselves or giving rise to health and safety concerns. The people of Greenfield wish this decision to be overturned and reversed as it was made with no consultation from local people, and against the recommendation of Flintshire County Council officers. This decision is not only destroying the landscape that many love to come and visit, but also the habitats of wildlife in the area and the surrounding environment.332 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Nina Davies

Mitie Must FallMITIE Group PLC is the UK's single largest provider of immigration detention centers. Inspections have severely criticised these facilities for detaining people for 'unreasonably long' periods (even when medical and mental health professionals have recommended their release) in 'desolate' and insanitary conditions. Other exploitative practices include the use of inmates to perform essential maintenance work, with payment of only £1 an hour, while incidents of serious self-harm quadrupled in 2 years at one immigration detention centers operated by MITIE. Durham University has a long and proud record of respect for human rights and social justice, a record that is being tarnished by our association with immoral companies like MITIE. Working with these firms is an embarrassment to the student body and the university as a whole, this is why we are calling VC Stuart Corbridge's administration to cease all relations with MITIE (firstly by not renewing their current £5 million contract, due for renewal this year) and to look into updating the University's procurement policy to include more human rights requirements.63 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Daisy Pullman
