As a teacher and union rep I have seen that overwork causes stress and mental and physical illness. Taking away the working time directive due to leaving the EU will only make this worse as it will take away the protection of breaks in the working day and the limit to hours overall. The law gives EU workers the right to a minimum number of holidays each year, rest breaks, and rest of at least 11 hours in any 24 hours; restricts excessive night work; a day off after a week's work; and provides for a right to work no more than 48 hours per week.

Not only do Cornwall's farmers and fisherman currently receive benefits from the European Community's Common Agricultural Policy and Common Fisheries Policy but the county has received tens of millions of pounds a year in structural and convergence funds to support local economic growth and communities. In the 2014-2020 budget Cornwall had been allocated 592 million euros. Should Britain leave the EU before 2020 it is essential that this allocation is matched to continue the growth and development which Cornwall needs.

More & more family homes are being turned into multiple occupancy housing, squeezing up to 10 small bedsits into one terrace house. Conditions are poor to dangerous for the tenants, extra stress is put on the local community & services. Council resources are drained as some landlords are claiming around £1200 pm per bedsit, meaning that more than double the number of people could be housed decently if the coucil stopped dealing with such landlords. People deserve safe, secure, affordable council housing. The following should help give an example of how this affects both tenants & neighbours. An existing development has already caused problems such as raw sewage backing up into our property, rats, mice, anti-social behaviour, noise, rubbish spilling out into street etc. Tenants I have spoken with live in cramped, damp, unhealthy conditions and are somewhat reluctant to speak out against the landlords. In our direct dealings with the landlord, he has not taken remedial action without council involvement and has been agressive at times. At least 2 further developments are underway within doors of each other, with the developers exploiting loopholes in planning to increase the number of available bedsits. Everyone suffers - except the slum landlord.

Orkambi is a drug that is vital in the preservation of the lives of people suffering from cystic fibrosis. It's currently not available to patients on the NHS and deemed "not value for money" by NICE. The aim is to get this drug available to all cystic fibrosis patients and start saving lives.

The UK is one of the science power-houses in the world. We attract and produce some of the best scientists and contribute greatly to increasingly important scientific areas including cancer, bacterial resistance, renewable energy and food research as well as a whole host of research areas that span all areas of science, technology and engineering. Leaving the EU has the worrying potential to restrict the amount of funding these research areas get, causing the UK to fall behind in world leading research but also slowing scientific progress. The UK is part of EU funded projects such as Horizon 2020. As a PhD student in cancer research I have seen first hand in the labs the reaction to the UK leaving the EU. Everyone is worried about what this means for science here and whether we'll be able to maintain our excellent work. This petition is to raise awareness in the hope that we can get a deal whereby scientists and funding can move between countries as easily as possible in order for research to progress as it always has done.

In the current UK climate, incidences of extreme and vile racism have increased by 57% since the EU referendum. While most people can accept and debate the outcome of the result with consideration, it has become apparent that many others have now found a "voice" to incite violence and hatred to those that may have been unfairly portrayed as symptomatic to the countries issues. As Facebook has always set itself as an open and inclusive social media platform, "It's free and always will be", it also has a duty to ensure that it's billions of users are safe on it, and that those outside of such a group are not at risk from such. A group 'liked' by 1.5m people which shares and actively comments with such hatred on minorities, religions and races should have no place on the major social media platform.
