Every Child a Lifesaver is based around a crucial goal: to ensure that all children get the chance to learn first aid in schools. The Emergency First Aid Education Bill, put forward by Teresa Pearce MP and requiring all state funded secondary schools in England teach first aid, would make that happen. Too many people suffer needlessly when first aid skills could have helped and sadly only 24% of secondary schools currently teach first aid. By making first aid mandatory in all state-funded secondary schools through the Bill, can we create a generation that are equipped with the skills and confidence to step forward.

Some 8 years ago it was identified there was an need for an additional “ 1.5 doctors” to meet the need of the new housing estates being build in the area but this wasn’t taken up by a doctors surgery. Lynton House is the only surgery in the Ryemead ward and its hours need to be increased not decreased to meet the local demand We are calling for this reduction is services to br reversed or to be scrutinized in light of the growing need in Ryemead for an increase in Doctors services at the point of need - in the local ward and community

To plead to the Council to open its empty buildings to the homeless in winter. I cannot imagine sleeping rough in driving, biting winds, snow, ice and winter rain. It's inhumane. It's also inexcusable when we have so many empty buildings.

More and more people are becoming homeless everyday, particularly in the climate of austerity and we are all susceptible to the adverse effects of harsh winter weather. With babies and children dying in cars when sleeping rough with their parents and number of people, even with houses, dying due to the bitter cold it is of vital importance that people are protected this winter. Furthermore, preventative action to reduce health problems as a result of cold weather could save the NHS money as they would not have to treat illnesses due to harsh weather. It is therefore simply logical to open up empty buildings this winter to provide shelter for those who are in need. Lives can be saved / extended with improved quality. No hospitalisation required and patients are able to walk away from treatment and resume normal life. There are little or no side effects, it is painless and there is little or no damage to surrounding healthy tissue. No long drawn out treatment, it is carried out in between one and five treatments, (more often than hot, three.) There is no risk of infection and no lengthy recovery periods either.

With increased distances to A&E, come increased rates of mortality. We don’t want people dying because either Halifax or Huddersfield A&E has been closed. We need the A&Es in both Halifax and Huddersfield to stay open. We’re the sixth richest country in the world, we can afford to keep them open. More than 2000 people have already signed this Calderdale 38 Degrees NHS campaign petition at street stalls in Calderdale over the past two years. The reason for putting it online now is because the Public Consultation on the proposed A&E closure and other hospital cuts is coming up in the new year 2016. Unbelievably, Calderdale Clinical Commissioning Group is claiming that there has been no public opposition to their proposed hospital cuts and that everyone wants the cuts and changes they're proposing. So we need to remind them, loud and clear, that the people of Calderdale want to KEEP BOTH HALIFAX AND HUDDERSFIELD A&Es OPEN. The reason for this we have to travel inordinate distances to receive care. This is unsustainable because Selby is fast growing conurbation and, as such, the town requires, as a minimum level of service, a Minor Injuries Clinic and out of hours Doctors' surgery.

They used to have them all over London from what I understand which must have been so useful and now they seem to have almost all vanished. This is important to me as a surfer I often find myself surfing next to plastic water bottle waste which causes massive destruction to the marine life and of course uses up precious finite resources. Children are bombarded with sensory stimulation from video games, mobile phones TV and computers almost 24 hours a day. Add to that the pressure of everyday life ....tests , changes in the family make up, poverty, and overworked parents! Combine these factors with the already difficult naturally occurring stages a child goes through and we are heading for many more generations of depressed over pressured young people and adults. What coping strategies do our children have to counteract all this bombardment and retain their individual Humanness in a virtual world .... We need to teach them how to find a stillness amidst all of the business.
