• Stop Scottish Councils Investing In The Arms Trade
Weapons kill people. The companies that manufacture weapons profit from selling them to states which kill people. A more peaceful world means less weapons are required which, in turn, would hurt the profits of arms manufacturers and the dividends of public money investments. We should not be relying on dividends to help fund our local authorities when those dividends only increase as more weapons are sold. This is morally wrong! • Reinstate Kenny Baileys full benefit entitlement
Kenny Bailey suffers from severe memory loss problems and is paralysed down one side of his body, he has suffered a stroke, the result of this meant that he lost the right side of his head, following a DWP fit for work assessment the DWP told him he is fit for work. His benefits have now been cut and he loses £156 per fortnight. DWP have told him he must now seek work, this guy can not work or play with his family, DWP failed him by stating that he can walk 200 yards unaided and is able to get up from the chair. For this guy to attend appointments he needs to write every appointment down or he would forget where and when his appoints are. Therefore the DWP should re-instate the full entitlement of benefits to Kenny Bailey and offer him a full apology following the misjudgement of a DWP medical.

  • UOL & SU: New Refugee Scholarship
The UK government has failed to effectively aid the millions of people fleeing uncertain futures in war zones so Lincoln students need to take action. In the UK, whilst we do not enjoy free undergraduate education, we have a system in place to ensure we receive a world-class standard of education that is available to everyone. Around 30 British academic institutions already offer some form of free education or aid service to refugees, the University of Lincoln and its student union should continue to lead morally as well as academically. We have seen an unprecedented level of human movement from the Middle East and North Africa to Europe due to civil war and economic hardship. Many of these refugees are young people, many of them are educated to a high standard and all of them had to leave for fear of the own lives. Our universities societies, by their members own admissions, are already well funded and supported. We also enjoy hosting one of Lincoln's premier venues, The Engine Shed, and we will soon see a new multi-million pound technology building. The University and its SU are not short of money and you cannot put a price on human life or a good education. Sign this petition and ensure that a young person gets the future that we all deserve.

  • David Cameron initiate an official enquiry into Islamophobia in the London Mayoral Election
The election has been marred by Islamophobic claims made against the Labour Candidate for The London Mayoral Election. This has brought British Democracy into disrepute and will exacerbate distrust in and disillusionment with the electoral system and UK Government by both Islamic people and other minorities. This sets a dangerous precedent for future elections, will divide society further, will increase a sense amongst British minorities that they cannot expect fair and just treatment from British Government and reduce the sense amongst many that there is any point in engaging in democracy. It may in addition increase the risk of instability in The UK.

  • Provide adequate milk for refugee infants in Greece
No child should be starving. When this is happening within the European Union, we should do everything within our power as a nation to intervene and ensure that these babies are fed

  • Campaign to make it easier for people to die in their own homes.
In a recent survey 82% want to die in their own homes but only 18% actually are able to do this. Learn from organisations like Colchester & Tendring "Single Point" a joined up service who made it possible for my Mother to stay at home until she passed away. As I work in this field I knew how the system worked re the Mental Capacity act assessments worked and we were able to avoid a 3rd hospital admission. The out of hours service do not have access to her preferred place of care notes but as she was able to express her wishes despite her dementia my Mother got what she wanted, we saved the taxpayer money and gave her the wish to die at home. It was not an easy choice for us to make but I have no regrets. She died with dignity and respect and she passed peacefully away in her own bed, with family present who were chatting to her despite her being unconscious and holding her hand. Now isn't that all any of us can ask for. The Health and social services system is geared to hospital/nursing/residential homes so under the current system you need to be really clued up to navigate through "the Care Act 2014". Please make it easier for a family/friends/neighbours/carers to assist patients to make an informed choice. Make more information available about the kind of support they could have and training opportunities as needed in how to care for someone at the end of their life, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Please train more community carers in end of life (palliative) care and make emotional support available for all who do this work. Let's get back to community caring rather than just caring being a business.

  • STOP DEPORTATION OF SERIOUSLY ILL MOTHER
This is very important because she has her family over here. Imagine this was your mother or grandmother being sent home, how would you feel. She will not be a burden to the state as her family will be looking after her. At the age of 73 she should be allowed to live a dignified life.

  • Ban a British governmental cooperation with Donald Trump
This is very important because of the fact that Donald Trumps ideals and proposition are flawed and are frankly ludicrous. For example: a Mexican / American boarder wall, a ban of Muslims entering the US, War on ISIS ( this issue need to be handled with care, not weapons) and finally women being criminalised for having abortions.

  • Stop the deportation of Refugees & Asylum seekers from Greece and back to Turkey
These vulnerable people have had to abandon their homes in countries ravaged by wars and the rule of oppressive organisations that have shown little regard to human rights. These people are escaping from those who have readily committed crimes against humanity. They have paid dearly with money and many lost their lives to get this far( Greece). They must not be sent to Turkey, where there's nothing for them but certain slow death. Please SIGN to stop this totally inhumane act , especially against the children and the elderly

  • Don't cut vital support for disabled people in East Worthing and Shoreham-by-sea
George Osborne has announced plans to take £70 a week away from thousands of people with disabilities, by cutting Personal Independence Payments (PIP). For many of us, this will mean losing the crucial support which enables us to get out of the house. Many people in our area would be hit hard by this cut. This petition calls on our local MP to do all they can to stop this cruel and unfair plan. Please, show your support for local people with disabilities and help stop the cuts to PIP.
