• Campaign for A ‘Roof’ for Edith (CARE)
The statue, made in 1875 by Charles Wilke and donated to Hastings in that year by Lord Brassey, bears no identification and is eroding badly in the open air. It is the only public monument in the UK depicting the famous act of ‘Edith finding the body of Harold on the battlefield of Hastings’ immediately after the battle in 1066. It needs to be properly sign-posted, it’s story told, and protected for future generations to enjoy. Edith was Harold’s common-law wife of 20 years who bore him 6 children, from one of whom, Gytha, our present Queen is descended. She is also thought by some to be the woman (one of only three in its entirety) shown in the Bayeux Tapestry (scene 47) fleeing, with her young son, from a burning house set on fire by Duke William’s troops. The statue represents a depiction of her last embrace with her lover as she identified his body among the fallen after his defeat. Following this poignant act she disappears from history: whereas Harold's legacy is acknowledged in history books the statue remains one of the few testaments to Edith’s important role in the history of our nation. • Remove Posters in Gloucester City Centre demonising Homelessness
We are fully supportive of the initiatives that are in place to help homeless people and would welcome these being publicised in a positive way so that the public are aware as to what they can do to help the homeless. However these posters do little more than attack the individual liberty of city residents and demonise one of the most vulnerable groups in our city. Streetlink is an important organisation but its advertised in small print at the bottom of the page. The current campaign is based on negativity and not the right way to go about things.

  • Lydford Road Zebra Crossing
It is very difficult for pedestrians to cross this road safely as traffic is constant and comes from 4 directions. The are a large number of families living in the area who need to cross this road every day to get so school in the Willesden Green area or to access the tube on Walm Lane. Some children walk to school by themselves and it is a very challenging road for unaccompanied children to negotiate. There have been a number of accidents involving children on Brent roads recently (including fatalities) and we don’t want to wait for another one before a safe crossing is considered.

  • Make Childcare Work
The childcare system in England isn’t working for families. Parents need childcare that helps them choose whether to go back to work. But hundreds of thousands aren’t getting the help they should be. It’s a battle for mums, dads, and caregivers to get the support they’re entitled to – and their children deserve. When the sums don’t add up, and parents end up worse-off than if they didn’t work at all, it can feel like the odds are stacked against them. And the financial pressure and stress that creates at home isn’t good for parents or children. This campaign is about making childcare fair and easy to use. Right now, our broken childcare system isn’t giving families the support they need - at the most important time in their children’s lives. Photo credit: Clare Hewitt / Save the Children

  • Save QEQM Stroke Service
These vital life saving services should be provided at QEQM in Margate. Anyone having a stroke needs to act FAST and get to a hospital for treatment as quickly as possible. Ashford is simply too far away. Thanet already has some of the worst stroke outcomes. Life saving stroke treatment should not be cut due to reducing funding in our NHS.

  • Build the world's greenest venue on the site of the Earls Court Masterplan, London.
Transport for London’s (TfL) commercial development wing formed a joint venture with Capital & Counties Properties PLC to redevelop the TfL-owned site of the now-demolished Earls Court Exhibition Centre, which forms a large part of the scheme known as the Earls Court Masterplan. Mayor Khan is Chair of Transport for London. Recent press reports range from an enhanced Earls Court Masterplan being brought forward to part of it being sold to a Saudi Arabian investment and property firm. This uncertainty over the future of the site does not help residents and businesses. The West Kensington and Gibbs Green housing estates are threatened with demolition as is the Lillie Bridge depot – all for luxury flats. The destruction of the Earls Court Exhibition Centre has led to the loss of 30% of London’s and 16% of the UK’s vital exhibition space and over £1bn annually to the local and national economy. Londoners were promised that "Earl’s Court will remain the location for a large convention centre or exhibition function" in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea’s 2015 Consolidated Local Plan. Instead permission was granted last year by the Royal Borough for a 644 sq m cultural venue, like a souped up Starbucks on the site of the iconic Exhibition Centre which was 40,000 sq m! There is no step-free access from the Earl's Court tube station to the development to help those with disabilities. There is no significant destination venue in the current Earls Court Masterplan. When the Earls Court Masterplan is revised, we ask that Mayor Khan supports building the world’s greenest venue which will generate overnight stays and support the night-time economy. Profits from the venue should be used to improve London's transport network and to benefit the common good.

  • Llanrug to Bethel cycle paths
Currently there is no safe walk way between the 2 villages that share a secondary school. This hinders children from choosing to cycle to school which is just over a mile away. Also as the two villages have dwindling local service especially bethel more and more people are having to travel to Llanrug to use the local shops which is increasing the vehicles / Walkers/ cyclists using the very narrow connecting road.

  • Let the NHS manage Wellness and Cancer, not just deliver current treatments
Current projections for cancer show that 1 in 2 of us will be diagnosed in our lifetimes. And obviously, even once its reached 1 in 2, it continues Current treatment attacks the cancer, and therefore the body's own systems There are a growing number of people aiming to rebuild/strengthen their immune systems instead. None of this date is being collected and used. Similarly for the many millions of people regularly taking responsibility for their health themselves. We need to change the way we manage health, and learn from wellness, not just illness. For e.g We're facing 1 in 2 being diagnosed with cancer. The only treatment offered, allowed, or assessed is chemical, aiming to destroy the cancer. No one is assessing people working toward natural, or integrated wellness at all The NHS see 1m people every 36 hrs. If they were collecting information about wellness, not only would the data fund the NHS and more, it would help what we know about reducing all illness, including cancer. Cancer research looks primarily at how we attack cancer in ways that are increasingly less brutal. No one's looking at how we live well with cancer so it can cope with the illness, and strengthen the body rather than attacking the illness. This is true for many other illnesses. Looking at kinder ways to strengthen the body could impact on all illnesses, not just cancer. We're becoming immune to what 1 in 2 being diagnosed with cancer really means, as it's too scary to really consider. Take a moment. 1 in 2 of our loved ones getting cancer, and only being offered treatments that attack the body. 1 in 2 having this treatment might not be the best we can do. How do we know if we don't look? It's no enough just to keep managing a rapidly spreading illness. We need to look at how to reduce the numbers. Screw '1 in 2' Please comment, so we can add your experience to ours, and join a Health Crowdsolving group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/Dyingtoknow/. All you need is your opinion, and you can help to make a difference. The aims of this specific group are to involve people in looking at how we manage wellness; to look at how we take personal responsibility for our own health; and to help make change.

  • Stop Oil Exploration in the Surrey Hills – AONB. UK
Leith Hill is a landmark beauty spot in The Green Belt of the Surrey Hills and is topped by Leith Hill Tower. The tower was built in 1765 by Richard Hull of Leith Hill Place as “a place for people to enjoy the glory of the English countryside”. Hundreds of thousands of people visit this area year round. Walkers, horseback riders, cyclists, motorcyclists, families on a day out, day trip coach tours, tourists and locals. They all come here to do just what Richard Hull hoped his tower would inspire. Oil & gas exploration is a commercial investment in the fossil fuel industry. Bury Hill, Leith Hill and the surrounding countryside are AONB designated sites and in The Green Belt. It is difficult to find land where the legal statutes are more set against industrial and commercial development. Surly sustainable, ethical, recreational and woodland based small businesses would be a better example for you to generate income. Sutton & East Surrey Water have stated that there is a very real risk of contamination to the water supply and the ancient and narrow sunken lanes are not appropriate for industrial HGV traffic. The logistics operation for the traffic management alone will make Coldharbour Lane impassable, causing detours and traffic disruption throughout the surrounding area. The District Council, The County Council, The National Trust and local Parish Councils are against it. For nine years local residents have managed to delay production and opposition is growing as we get national press and media. The amount of activity, the number of HGV journeys and a 35m high derrick in this beautiful landscape will make a travesty of its AONB & Green Belt designations. Exploration and possible extraction of fossil fuels contradicts your mission statement and our international commitment to reduce carbon emissions. If the Forestry Commission is truly the steward for forests and the people, then how can you go against the wishes of the local population and their elected representatives in this way?

  • Bring the Tapestry to Battle - 1066
The Bayeux Tapestry shows the event that changed English history forever. Battle was the location for that tumultuous event that ended Saxon rule. Bringing the Tapestry to Battle will bring huge boost to the local economy and be the most suitable historic location.
