• SOMERSET NHS under threat - sign and take action!
This is a big step towards breaking up the NHS in Somerset. It splits up the NHS family, can make services worse for patients, and puts staff at risk from attacks on their pay and conditions. Together we can stop the Trust’s scheme. To do that we need the strength of EVERYONE. Please sign our petition, share with family and friends, and across social media. Let’s get as many signatures as possible. The Trust is currently refusing to consult and engage with trade unions and the public! The 350 workers the Trust is targeting are employed in Estates and Facilities. But if this plan goes through, other departments will follow. Hospital bosses want to make terms and conditions more “flexible” – and we all know that’s code for cutbacks. YDH’s claim that this scheme reduces their VAT payments is misguided. More Parliamentary scrutiny is falling on NHS Trusts who attempt to lower their tax payments. It’s robbing Peter to pay Paul – it doesn’t create any more money for public services. The only people making a profit are consultancy firms “advising” the Trust.

  • Save the Trees on New Road, St Johns Worcester
Trees give a place character and help filter out pollution along that busy road. These trees have been there for almost 100 years and even if replanted (which is unlikely) will never be as majestic! It will ruin the character of Worcester and will completely change the view from St Johns into Worcester and vice versa.

  • Extend Consultation Period for Stretford Masterplan.
Some of these concerns are (but not limited to) the haste with which the plan has been launched with seemingly little data, plans or research available to residents to substantiate claims of regeneration. Furthermore, there has been information emerging throughout the process that has caused alarm such as the design of the scheme, environmental impact, impact upon current residents and loss of public facilities and access to public space. Whilst we broadly support a vision to regenerate our town centre we cannot support a Masterplan which shows no consideration for incumbent residents and any impacts upon them. With further information it is entirely possible that we would support this plan - however as such information is not forthcoming we ask you to extend consultation and engage with the community meaningfully and openly. For further information - on twitter @m32dogs or [email protected] or facebook 'Development Opportunity Group for Stretford 'https://www.facebook.com/groups/347186892414426/

  • Save The Three Tuns
The Three Tuns is a much loved local public house which is not only a part of the local community but contributes to the local community through its regular fundraising activities and events. Furthermore it is a significant outlet for sales of beers produced by the Drone Valley Community Brewery, which itself donates profits to local good causes.

  • Demand for traffic calming measures on Holly Hill Road, Northfield
During the last six months, dangerous drivers have flew across the junction at Holly Hill Road, and ended up damaging property and vehicles on Frogmill Road. This has happened 3 times, resulting in two vehicles being written off and significant damage to property. On the third occasion, a stolen vehicle actually came through our front garden, into my car, and through our front wall, resulting in car headlights in our living room (I was on the sofa at the time!). Neighbours on Frogmill Road strongly feel that traffic calming measures such as speed bumps would prevent this kind of incident from occuring again. These incidents are not just happening late at night, my neighbour's car was written off at 11.00am, while our home was crashed into at 8.30pm. If any pedestrians had been using the foot path at this time, they would be dead. I have emailed a local counsellor (Glenn Smith) who has advised that, at this present time, the council will not be looking into the issue of dangerous driving on Holly Hill Road, as nobody has died or been injured within the last three years. Please sign this petition so that the council can see how concerned the residents of Holly Hill/Frogmill Road are.

  • Urgent action on Mile Oak Road traffic safety
There have been a number of near misses due to the layout of the road and its geography. Tragically, a motorcyclist was involved in a serious accident on the 2nd December and residents are, rightly, demanding that something be done.

  • RBS Branches Closing in Clydesdale, Scottish Borders and Midlothian South
Not only will this have a devastating impact on the bank workers who are set to lose their jobs, these closures will also have a negative effect on the local communities of Biggar, Carnwath, Douglas, Dunns, Eyemouth, Hawick, Jedburgh, Lesmahagow, Melrose, North Berwick, Penicuik, Selkirk and Strathaven. Those who are older, in poor health, who cannot afford to travel further afield to do their banking, or who run small businesses will be hit hardest by these branch closures.

  • Make Sony remove child abuse scenes from video games
Sony is planning to release Detroit: become human; a video game in which a young girl can be abused and killed by her father. The author of the game, David Cage, says it's a beautiful story and that the girl isn't really a victim as the player can 'choose' to save the victim however the player can also choose not to save the victim and allow her to die at the hands of her father (one of the trailers shows the father's hand around his dead daughter's neck as he says, Daddy's no longer angry). One review, by Damien Lawardom, talks about it as "the most relatable game of 2018", and describes the trailer as a "heart-rending display of domestic abuse". We believe the game to be potentially highly damaging. Abusers will get off on playing the game and young children interacting with the game, in spite of it's age classification, are likely to be inspired to use violence and abuse as a way to solve their own issues. Normalising abuse the way that guns and violence have been in movies, TV and games, sets a terrifying precedent. Please sign this petition and let's stop this game, and others like it, from being classified and released where they include scenes of child abuse. Abuse is a crime not a game.

  • Stop the risk to life
Whilst the for-profit company states its an experience where thousands of friends and families gather to listen to live music, fill up on yummy food, and light up life by sharing personal wishes, dreams and goals, which sounds wonderful the impact of thousands of lit lanterns allowed to drift and land wherever to cause chaos, harm, stress and death to the wildlife, pets, horses, livestock is unacceptable. There are many examples when ingested the sharp parts of sky lanterns can tear and puncture an animal’s throat or stomach causing internal bleeding, horses have had their blankets set on fire and are unable to escape. Lanterns also pose danger as a fire hazard – destroying habitats and potentially setting animal housing, feed and bedding alight. Marine life is also endangered by lanterns falling into the sea, Please ban the use of these dangerous devices

  • Please replace plastic fruit and veg bags with paper
Our big supermarkets stock small plastic bags for customers to select their own fruit and vegetables. These bags are usually thrown away after one use, adding to the avalanche of disposal plastics that are littering our oceans and harming our wildlife. It didn't use to be this way. Greengrocers used to provide customers with paper bags that were biodegradable. Let's bring back paper bags. Small changes can make a big difference.

  • Closure of Keresforth Special Resource Centre Barnsley South Yorkshire
These disabled people cannot speak for themselves . The parents need these places because it is not only a stimulus for the person with the disability but also gives them some time for normality The council / SWYPT should clearly explain why these persons the most vulnerable in society are being targetted and what benefits this gives these persons by doing this. It cannot be at the detriment of their welfare which if it goes ahead as planned quite clearly will be. The MP’s should be in touch with local change and therefore should be championing these vulnerable persons to ensure they receive the best care The Tory government’s lack of funding for social care especially to those who do not and therefore cannot speak for themselves are an easy target .This is both callous and thoughtless from start to finish . It is paramount these persons get the best that society can give them . The young lady I know may not be able to speak nor can she walk , feed herself ,dress herself or look after her personal hygiene . But one thing she can do is light up a room with her infectious smile because she is such a beautiful young lady who is so loved and cared for. To think that by making these changes she may be affected and lose this wonderful trait is beyond comprehension. If only she could express her feelings and let everyone know how this will affect her wellbeing As for her parents they are both retired and have health issues. Do they really need the added stress of not knowing what will happen to their child and the worry associated with what is being planned This is becoming the norm all over the UK why do we not stand up to these contemptible people and say NO MORE . The vulnerable need our voice so let’s shout it out loud and clear . Stop these insane cuts on the severely disabled and start and make them feel loved and wanted and have the best life they can have . Not forgetting the parents and families who suffer when they feel their child is being neglected and that they have no voice and are invisible to the powers that be . I have shown this as a local issue as this is occurring in my local constituency but I firmly believe it is happening right now in numerous places across the UK and will continue unless we do whatever we can to stop it. Please can you give your support to the plight of these vulnerable persons
