Save Borehamwood's Meadow ParkI live beside the Park and walk my dogs there every day. Not knowing much about this problem, at first I thought I might be selfish objecting to the expansion of the Football Club. But then I realised that Meadow Park had been given to the town over 100 years ago for the community to use - not to be owned by an exclusive corporate company for profit which, needing to expand again, should be accepting national guidelines and moving further away from a town centre anyway. It should certainly not be taking community property of such practical and intrinsic value to the whole community who may or may not follow the league. A couple of weeks ago, there was a 13 strong flock of geese making a pit stop on our little park which prompted another impromptu discussion about the value of every blade of grass or tree contained there. Non of that is up for sale or lease to anyone. Obviously this little oasis in the midst of cement, patrimony of the community, antidote to the stress of urban living and venue for community events right in the middle of the town is valuable. The Boreham Wood Football Club has been allowed to gradually encroach on the park and now wants to take, fence off and profit from our space so what is left cannot accommodate traditional town events in the future Besides the need to protect dwindling urban park space (Borehamwood is growing alarmingly), Meadow Park is anyway used for many other outdoor activities. And there are football youth groups playing every week (they are not permitted to use 'the expensive' Football Club facilities which are private). If lots of us come together to sign the petition, we might be able to convince the council to stop the plans.972 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by Joan Hillery-Collings

Option to donate the Winter Fuel Payment to CharityMany people over 65 are members of the 'baby boomer' generation retired with good occupational pensions as well as the state pension, often living in warm comfortable houses which they bought on mortgages much cheaper than they are now. They don't need the £100 to keep warm but there are others less fortunate and often much younger who can't even afford to rent a property never mind own one and some of them are sleeping on the streets in the winter cold. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/04/07/one-in-six-pensioners-is-a-millionaire-official-figures-show/ Many retired people, like me, send the money to charity but others never get round to doing it. Many others will just feed it into their frivolous lifestyle without a thought about how it could do more good elsewhere. Perhaps if they were given the option by the DWP to send it to a good cause instead much more of this money could be sent where it could really make a difference. Nudge Theory (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nudge_theory) now being used by various government departments could possibly feed millions in this direction. Even better, since if you give to charity yourself with Gift Aid the government adds another 20%, perhaps they should send £120 for each person who selects the option. Obviously it will take some time for the government to set this up if we do persuade them; certainly not before the middle of next year. So if you are reading this and you are a pensioner like me who can easily do without the payment, and you haven't already sent it to a good cause, maybe you could send it to a deserving charity too?60 of 100 SignaturesCreated by John Lea

Reduce the speed on Hauxton RoadThe section from the junction with Shelford Road to the junction with Addenbrooke's road is now much more built up than previously. Many children cross this road to attend Trumpington Meadows primary school. Reducing speed by 10mph will reduce the risk of death in a collision by 40%.7 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Andrew Conway Morris

Petition to end unsafe street lighting in LincolnshireLCC have been turning off street lighting in built up areas on Lincolnshire since October. Now large areas are plunged into complete darkness. This is a risk to those walking at night especially affecting the elderly and may well contribute to falls and certainly adds to a perceived risk of assault to vulnerable groups. Light pollution is obviously a concern but there is no need for residential areas to go from fully lit to being plunged into complete darkness.1,941 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Stephen Field

Call on UK supermarkets to stop stocking destructive palm oil productsUnsustainable palm oil production is causing irreversible destruction of rain forest habitat for some of our planets most endangered species such as Orangutans, Proboscis monkeys and Cloud leopards as well as causing human misery and threats to health through environmental pollution, land grabs and poor working conditions. Without immediate and direct action from consumers many of these species could be lost from the wild by 2020, sustainable alternatives are available and it is our responsibility to act. I have recently returned from Borneo after a 3 week course studying rainforest ecology and conservation and witnessed first hand the catastrophic scale of the damage being caused by ruthless palm oil companies who show little or no regard to the precious and delicate ecology of the rainforest. To see a mother Orangutan with her young child in the wild is a truly magical experience but also heartbreaking to consider that this may not be possible for future generations to behold, please join me in calling on all food suppliers in the UK to take responsibility for their actions and to raise public awareness on what cost their food really has on the planet.349 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Steve Parkin

Nick Gibb MP, West Sussex Pupils should not be worth lessPut frankly, finances in our West Sussex Schools are at breaking point. If nothing is done there will be severe consequences for our children. Currently headmasters across our county are having to consider and actively plan to take any of the following measures to make ends meet: • Modified opening hours/days • Increasing class sizes even further • Reductions in cleaning • Non-replacement of staff when they leave/retire • A halt in all investment in books and IT ________________________ Did you know: • West Sussex is one of the lowest funded council in the country • West Sussex currently gets between £40m - £200m less than other regions for Education • In nearby Brighton & Hove each school receives £300 per pupil premium if they don't speak english as a first language. West Sussex schools get no extra funding for this. ________________________ Nick Gibb MP (for Bognor Regis & Littlehampton, West Sussex) The response from Nick Gibb has been very disappointing to both the headmasters and his constituents so far. In a letter to a local Head Teacher, dated 2 November 2016, West Sussex MP Nick Gibb (Minister for Schools) wrote: “In 2015- 16 we made a step towards fairer funding by adding £390m to the schools budget, targeted at the least fairly funded authorities, including West Sussex. The additional funding for West Sussex was included in their baseline in 2016-17 and is protected for 2017-18.” In this reply Mr Gibb MP doesn’t appear to be acknowledging the funding crisis in this reply. Especially since the £390m mentioned, West Sussex schools received less than £1m (£930k). This represents an increase of less than £10 per child across West Sussex. ________________________ The Worthless? West Sussex Campaign Head Teachers in West Sussex are currently running to campaign to gain additional interim funding of £20million beginning in the financial year, April 2017 with the Worthless? West Sussex Campaign for fairer funding. They need to do this because of long years of under funding by West Sussex County Council, which has now been compounded by the low level being carried over to the funding now allocated directly from Westminster. In their latest letter they said that despite the assistance of some West Sussex MPs and an debate in parliament (Nick Gibb was not in attendance). Defend our A&E at Broomfield HospitalThis change means Broomfield hospital would become a minor injuries walk-in centre, which makes a mockery of government claims to establish a 24/7 NHS. We all know a family member or a friend who could need urgent care and has to get to an A&E very quickly. Without a local A&E department people would have to travel up to an hour to get to an A&E, if someone is in a critical condition that time could be the difference. Health bosses are playing with the lives of the people of mid-Essex. We have already had a great response to this petition which shows that the people of Chelmsford are overwhelmingly opposed to this change. Our local hospital needs everybody. And we need a campaign to keep Broomfield A&E21,505 of 25,000 SignaturesCreated by Andy Abbott

Ivf abuseThe only reason why these procedures are being pushed is to make money from those who trust what they are being told, and desperate enough to believe what they are being told. Save Bicester's Health and Wellbeing CentreAn open letter from an 87-year-old lady who uses the centre: Dear people of Bicester, I've lived in Bicester for 50 years. My husband passed away 15 yrs ago. I have no family left and my mobility is not what it used to be. I attend the Bicester Health and wellbeing centre located near the garth park two days a week. This place is my only lifeline. I get to see friends and I get looked after so well that I really don't know where I would be without the place. Oxfordshire County Council are proposing to close this centre and others throughout Oxfordshire! What will I do? I will be stuck looking at four walls every day with no human contact. Who will prepare me a cooked meal, help me with my medications and just check my general health. I'm so upset that this is happening. I won't see my friends again. I will be all alone all day every day. Me and my husband have worked hard all our lives, paid our taxes and this is how vulnerable people are being treated. You are all younger and we need you to fight for us as no one will otherwise. Please think of your elderly relatives and think what would they do if they didn't have you? I don't like being alone and it scares me to think this is now my future, being alone and vulnerable. Please help us in this fight to save the Bicester Wellbeing Health and Wellbeing centre. You or your relatives might need them one day!1,465 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Sarah Haydon
