• Devolve Benefits To Scotland
The current direction of welfare spending and procedures is not in-line with the will of the Scottish people and the direction in which we want to take. With 100,000 disabled persons standing to lose their lifeline in coming months it is imperative that the Scottish Parliament is able to make decisions on their welfare made based on the needs of the people of Scotland.

  • Free Julian Assange
Julian Assange and Wikileaks provided a very important service to the whole world by exposing the extent to which the US National Security Agency (NSA) is invading everyone's privacy, among other things. He should not be forced to spend the rest of his life in the Ecuadorian embassy in London when there is a simple solution. Why have the Swedish prosecutors refused to see him over here, given that there are so many of his supporters who would be willing to pay their costs. He has not ben charged with any offence in Sweden - they merely want to question him over rape allegations.

  • Stop abusing wildlife in reality TV programmes
It is cruel and unnecessary and promotes lack of respect for precious wildlife. It certainly makes for uncomfortable viewing. I recently wrote to viewer services at ITV and their response led me to reply: "I'm afraid that does not reassure me or my friends that those animals and insects are perfectly safe from harm during the tasks. If you were a small creature with a long tail and were forced to endure confined spaces with multiple other of your species and a large drama-driven 'celebrity', would you feel safe from harm? The snake felt sufficiently threatened to lash out in defence, and the small reptiles were trying to get away, clustering in corners and running to avoid the big body squashing into that small space. I think the producers know themselves this is wrong. Please come up with something that doesn't involve wild creatures. They are not here for anyone's warped entertainment. ............................ I was cringing at the cruelty of putting those poor creatures into an underwater tank to be trampled on and terrified, just because the producers think that's entertainment. Why can't the producers come up with tasks that don't involve putting wild and beautiful creatures in harm's way? .

  • Withdrawal of diabetic retinopathy screening in Heywood
diabetes affects all ages, sex and ability/disability however when having the screening done everyone is rendered almost sightless for a few hours and therefore extremely vulnerable - if they have to travel to another town to get this screening it they would either have to have an escort and take several buses or an expensive taxi and some diabetics are old and disabled plus they may be alone therefore having the test done locally would suit all concerned

  • £21m Cathkin Relief Road
This carriageway extension will not only pollute the area with noise and car fumes, it will rip up one of the few remaining greenbelts in the Rutherglen Area. This is apparently a protected greenbelt which mine & other local children helped plant trees and shrubs in over 12 years ago as part of bio-diversity excersize. This is where local families take their children for walks, where the children play In the summer months & in the winter snow, where many people walk their dogs and go for leisurely strolls. There is already 3 alternative routes in existence, None of these are by any means over congested at any time of the day. The residents of High Burnside did not choose to live on a main road so why should we be forced to do so now. This is just taking the problem away from One door and laying it at another. I think it's outrageous to spend this money on a road when the kids at the local high school are being given photocopied handouts of text books because the school can't afford the books for each pupil, When there is talk of increasing class sizes in the schools obviously because the budget is so tight to be able to afford the level of staff required, and when the NHS is in such a mess with the limited funding they have to exist on. I think this money could be better spent elsewhere And not spent on concreting over one of the last remaining greenbelts.

  • Petition to force companies to Reduce excessive product packaging
More often than not far too much material is wasted on product packaging. Sometimes it is totally unnecessary and purely for visual reasons; aimed at making a product look more than it is - A marketing gimmick! So many items are also packaged in unnecessarily high quality materials, which is costly to the environment and consumer. World resources are under pressure and we need to put a stop to it. A reduction in unnecessary packaging helps the environment and future generations

  • Ban Geo-Engineering
Because substances are being sprayed from planes into the environment which spreads in the wind and drops down to earth. All who breath are affected by these projects and until we know what harm or good these projects do then they need to be stopped. All those long lasting trails in the sky are NOT condensation trails but trails of some sort of chemical substance. With the continued crazy weather conditions worldwide and the increase in ill health amongst humans, birds are dropping from the sky, whales and dolphins are washing up in areas they are not supposed to, bees are dying off, fish are dying in record numbers, surely this is no coincidence. I did a rain water test in my back garden and the aluminium content was a staggering 990ppm, over 700ppm above the deemed safe levels. This has to stop now for the sake of all our children and for the sake of our planet.

  • OFCOM Apply media rules fairly
As part of its claim to be a modern democracy, the UK has a nominal commitment to defend freedom of speech and freedom of the press. This implies accepting the right of those with alternative views to have their voices heard, even if those views challenge governments and vested economic interests.

  • Save The St Agnes Bank / Cash Machine
The St Agnes post office has recently closed, our bus service is being significantly reduced and now Barclays (the only bank and cash machine in the village) is closing. This is a vital resource for the community and its closing will have devastating social and economic impacts on the village. We have a large elderly population in the village, many of whom don’t use credit / visa cards. We are blessed to have some great independent shops in the village - a baker, news agent, small cafes, two green grocers and two butchers. Some of whom accept cards, some don't. With no cash machine in the village how will people use these great independent shops. Where will the young people get their bus fare each morning to get to college? Yes, there are shops that offers cash back, but you have to spend £ 5 to get cash back . It's hardly fair that you have to spend your money, to get your money. Like many Cornish villages, tourism is our biggest business now the tourists won’t be able to get any cash to spend when they are here. Great. Less services for residents and tourists - a social and economic disaster for us.

  • Protect the public from fake health & care workers
This is important as highlighted by a number of recent cases, the most high profile of which was a young man in Sussex who was jailed for a number of years for fraudulently impersonating a paramedic and ambulance professional, gaining access to the elderly and vulnerable and causing harm. In this case, the police knew that the individual was a serious risk, knew the individual was an imposter, but had to wait until a crime was committed before eventually charging him with an array of offences. Read about the case here: http://www.sussex.police.uk/whats-happening/latest/news-stories/2014/10/14/fraudster-sent-back-to-prison-for-impersonating-a-paramedic Other cases have been individuals driving around in vehicle with blue lights and sirens, pretending to be ambulance professions and paramedics, a crime that the police can't arrest them for. Worryingly, the same applies to all health and care professionals, so if you want to impersonate a doctor, nurse, social worker, physiotherapist, AHP or any other kind of regulated health or care professional, this isn't an arrestable offence. IT IS SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE THAT INDIVIDUALS CAN FRAUDULENTLY DRESS-UP AND PRETEND TO BE AMONGST THE MOST TRUSTED MEMBERS OF OUR SOCIETY AND CANNOT BE ARRESTED UNTIL THEY HARM SOMEONE. PLEASE SUPPORT THIS CAMPAIGN TO REQUEST URGENT ACTION BY OUR GOVERNMENT.

  • NO to 275 new homes being built on farmland at Shurnhold, Melksham, Wiltshire
The site is completely inappropriate for a development of this kind for the following reasons: This precise area is prone to frequent flooding, the last time being on 18th September 2014 where many existing houses were flooded and the main A365 road was closed for two days. The land completely surrounds a grade II listed building that will lose all of it's views and will likely suffer increased risk from flooding from the developed land. The A365 (Bath - Melksham) road that bisects the two sites is a known traffic blackspot often leading to long tailbacks in both directions. Additional traffic on this route will increase the risk of accidents and nearby narrow residential lanes being used as rat-runs. Local infrastructure including primary/secondary schools and GP surgeries are already over-subscribed and cannot cope with the anticipated additional 1000+ extra residents. The nature and character of this semi-rural area including the nearby villages of Shaw and Whitley will be profoundly affected for the worse by this development.
