Taking back control of essential services & industriesIn the post brexit world it will be essential for our country to be in full control of all the means necessary to survive. On our own we would have a diminished ability to negotiate favourable terms with the rest of the world and In such circumstances we cannot risk putting ourselves into a position where we can be held to ransom by any foreign government or multinational corporation. The only way this can be guaranteed is to own and control all the things required to be self sufficient in what will become a hostile trading climate.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Mick Miles

Introduce a Universal Basic Income into the UKBecause the anger demonstrated by Brexit reflects the deep sense of alienation not only from political life but from engagement in society which is felt by so many. As the food bank queues grow longer it is essential that we move beyond welfare to create a truly radical reshaping of our economy in order that all can participate.200 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Geoff Smith

Tell Newham Council: We want our money back from Barclays and RBS!Did you know that the equivalent of 80% of your council tax goes on loan interest? Barclays and RBS sold Newham Council a bet on interest rates using loan deals called LOBOs - and they lost. That means £50 million in interest a year which could be used for: - Surestart centres - Community centres - Schools - Street cleaners - New council housing ...but instead that £50 million in interest is going to greedy banksters. Our legal advisers say that Newham's mayor, Sir Robin Wales, could put a stop to all this by taking the banks to court for mis-selling, just like we can do with PPI. Help us get our money back from the banks by signing this petition!906 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by Elisabeth Whitebread

Keep the UK in the EEAEEA membership allows for the free movement of persons, goods, services and capital within the common market. All this would be lost if we were to leave the EEA.10,729 of 15,000 SignaturesCreated by Jonathan Birch

Divert £1bn to the NHS from the banksWe have voted to leave the European Union. Right or wrong, there it is. With the news this morning that Mark Carney, Governor of the Bank of England, will make £250 BILLION POUNDS available for the banks to keep the financial markets of the UK stable, we are all complaining that the promise to divert much needed funds into the NHS was just rhetoric. Our Nation Health Service is falling apart. If this money is available to aid stability we should use a small amount of it wisely. The NHS is desperate for a cash injection, the banks are not. This petition is to the British Government, to supply the NHS with much needed cash to stabilise a true British achievement. The banks do not need ALL of the money and with the lies told for the leave campaign, its about time the people who devote their lives to helping others keep their health got a bit of a breather.4,416 of 5,000 SignaturesCreated by Mark Reardon

KEEP BERWICK STREET MARKET INDEPENDENTBerwick Street Market has been independent for 300 years yet Westminster City Council has decided to privatise it with barely any consultation - It's all happening behind the scenes - private operators are already in the tender process and traders’ licences have been terminated without warning. These licences are peoples livelihoods, businesses and relationships, and belong to traders who are part of Soho's history and culture. Berwick Street Market is now the frontline of the relentless cleansing of Soho. @BerW1ckStMarket22,657 of 25,000 SignaturesCreated by Robin Smith

Implement the promised plug-in grants for electric motorcyclesThe DfT's delay is blighting sales of electric bikes. Orders for hundreds of e-bikes have been put on hold while potential customers await the introduction of the incentive. The failure to implement the e-bike grants could cost jobs in the motorcycle industry and undermines the Government's repeated claims to be promoting green transport. Unlike the grants for cars and vans, a plug-in grant for electric motorcycles would also cut congestion.166 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Paul Smith

Watford FC: Pay the Living Wage! The Living Wage is a voluntary hourly rate set independently and updated annually. The Living Wage is calculated according to the basic cost of living in the UK. The current UK Living Wage is £8.25 a hour. As a result, this should be the minimum amount people in the UK are paid each hour to ensure that their wages cover the basic costs of living. In light of the above and the fact that the Premier League's television deal will see the 20 clubs in England's top flight share around £8.3 billion between now and 2019, we believe that a percentage of this income could be spent on paying their employees the Living Wage. Therefore, we petition Watford Football Club to use their share in the new television deal to ensure their staff are paid the Living Wage. Publish Report into Comet CollapseIn the light of the recent 'bankruptcy' of BHS, and the possibility of business owners operating at or beyond the limits of acceptable corporate governance, I think it is important for the public to understand whether there is a cultural problem within the corporate business sector. A similar set of events surrounded the collapse of the Comet group and a report was commissioned by the government into this collapse. The Government is refusing to publish this report. I think that a Government whose 'brand' is based on the benefits of a free enterprise culture needs to be very careful about how it is perceived when information pertaining to potential systematic abuse of the rules governing the corporate sector are withheld from the public.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Lawrence Ogden

Make Lewes a TTIP Free ZoneThe Transatlantic Trade Investment Partnership is being negotiated in strict secrecy. But what is known about the content places the needs of multi-national corporations above the needs of citizens with inherent threat to the environment and to health. Academics have warned the treaty will entrench inequality and lower consumer safety standards. Brighton and Hastings have already declared as TTIP Free Zones. Let Lewes, the County Town of East Sussex, join with them.115 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Sonya Baksi

Pensions, payouts and protections - put BHS workers ahead of creditors and asset strippers!I used to work at BHS. Between 2009 - 2012 I sold furniture in Store 255, Reading Gate. The people I worked with made it one of the best jobs I've ever had. When the store was closed in 2012, the owner (at that time Phillip Green) tried to get away with providing the least possible support for those of us laid off. But we stuck together, campaigned and won a better deal. Today, BHS is on the verge of collapse. 11,000 jobs - people just like me and my old friends - are at risk. On top of that, the company has a £571 million pension deficit. Some employees have saved all their life. Now their pensions are at risk. And why? Greens Greed - and others like him. Cold, callous and heartless greed. The story of BHS's bankruptcy is one of theft and asset-stripping on a massive scale. Green took £580m+ out then sold the company for £1. The next owner, twice bankrupt Dominic Chappell, has taken millions more. Green underfunded the pension scheme - while paying his wife £400 million in BHS dividends, all channeled through a tax haven. Now the ship is sinking, while Green takes delivery of his new £100 million superyacht. I don't work at BHS anymore. Today, I run ACORN, a national organisation made of 15000 low-middle income renters, service workers, claimants and others, fighting against inequality and for a fairer deal. I want to use this petiton to help BHS workers organise together and win the best outcome possible (if you're a worker, let us know!) BHS collapse could drive 11,000 more people into poverty, welfare and zero-hours contracts risking homes and health. Green, Chappell and the rest must be held liable and made to pay for their crime. Please sign and share.7,320 of 8,000 SignaturesCreated by Stuart Melvin

Edinburgh Schools Scandal: Open The Books on all PFI/PPP ContractsThe first step in challenging the toxic PFI/PPP contracts in Scotland is to end the secrecy and open them up to full public transparency. With full transparency, all of the facts will be public so that we can pursue: • Re-negotiation of the expensive debt repayments for PFI/PPP contracts • The freezing of any further public-private partnerships until a full inquiry has taken place into PFI/PPP Since the collapse of a wall at Oxgangs Primary School, 17 schools in Edinburgh have been closed to save children's lives from being placed at risk. The construction of these schools under Private Finance Initiative (PFI) and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) contracts allowed private companies to declare their own buildings safe while extracting Billions from the public purse in debt repayments. Yet there is an enormous lack of transparency over the correspondence between public authorities and these companies and the contracts they signed. The cost of debt repayments on PFI/PPP contracts is still rising and public-private contracts (including the new NPD model) are still being signed up to despite fears over the quality of buildings and the extortionate cost. We call on all parties and leaders standing for the Scottish Parliament to support four keys steps to open the books on public-private contracts: 1) Secure the release of the full contracts and correspondence between all Scottish public authorities and PFI/PPP companies, even when public authorities are not legally obliged to do so, so the public can judge for themselves what went wrong. 2) Secure the release of the legal and financial advice which underpinned the decisions by public bodies to enter into PFI/PPP contracts, including whether they took this advice from public or private consultancies. 3) Pursue debt renegotiation for PFI/PPP in all cases of misconduct and where contractual obligations have not been fully met or standards have been breached. 4) Freeze all further public-private partnership contracts until the causes of the Edinburgh schools scandal have been determined in full, and until a full inquiry has taken place into the financial and quality implications of the PPP model for public service delivery.1,843 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Common Weal with The People vs PFI
