Darlington Memorial Hospital have started looking into opening up a milk bank - which is great news! This would be the first and only milk bank in the North East of England and it would be a wonderful resource for all the mums who cannot breastfeed but do not wish to use formula milk. The idea of setting it up has not been approved yet as it requires time. However, whilst the hospital carry out any necessary assessments, it's important that they hear from all kinds of people in the area who support this idea. I've recently had my 6 month old daughter: as I wasn't making enough milk for her and obtaining donor milk wasn't an option, I had no choice but to use formula milk. I'm not on my own though. Many other mums, especially those with premature babies, also wish they could access donor milk. Donating milk is safe as it involves procedures such as donor screening, a series of tests, pasteurising the milk, etc.

This is about the health and safety of the children of surrounding areas. We need a lollipop person to protect them from being hit by vehicles. A young girl was recently hit just outside the school and more children are at risk of harm unless action is taken to make the crossing safer. Cannabis has been proven to have huge medicinal benefits, for lots of chronic and terminal conditions. The health benefits should out weigh the draconian laws on the Isle of Man. Jersey are doing it, so we don't need permission from the UK. Like they have said we do. Please sign and lets not only try to change for medicinal purposes but for possession, the amount of money saved through prison, legal fee's police time, money and resources.

The 999 Emergency Ambulance Service is under pressure to hit targets and with the increasing amount of people within the UK is creating bigger problems. Imagine the positive impact it would have on everyone if 'Basic Life Support' was taught in schools. This would help the emergency services also would give a better life expectancy for the more severe issues such as Heart Attack and any other major life threatening situations. Besides giving the added advantage of promoting and preserving lives, this would also give a good life skill and good footing for the child as they grow if they wish to proceed into the medical sector. Introducing BLS into the school curriculum will preserve, prevent and promote not only life but skills and knowledge of all.

We, the Leicester public, are rapidly losing our green spaces – 6 acres of allotments off Saffron Lane were sold last year. The Western Park golf course has been closed down, Oadby golf course is for sale as are 14 acres off Loughborough Road, 5 acres on Abbey Meadows and now 5 acres in Western Park. Without parks, where will our children learn to play football or ride bicycles? Will they have to pay an entrance fee? Where will we walk our dogs and breathe unpolluted air? We see our heritage privatised or gentrified, too. The Castle and its gardens, Wyggeston House, the City Rooms, the Pavillion in Western Park, Belgrave House, Braunstone Hall and now the rare surviving example of an Open Air School in Western Park. Heritage City, accessible only to those who can afford it? We say enough! Both the EcoHouse and the Open Air School are our heritage. Both were shining examples of progressive thinking, highlighting 'the way forward' in terms of public wellbeing and the health of the planet that sustains us. Clean air is a human right. The Council has Clean Air and Low Carbon policies. We want to see these put into practice - meaning the sell-off and building up of our green spaces has got to stop. As things stand, 20 houses will be constructed on the EcoHouse site. The heavily used carpark will be lost. Years of building upheaval will follow, as will the permanent transfer of our assets and park land into private pockets. This short term thinking - papering over the cracks of outdated 'economy first, people second' politics - is harmful to our rights and to the long term future of our city. Leicester City Council have no management plan for Western Park beyond 2016. Does this bode the sell-off of all of our beloved park? We, the people of Leicester, say no more selling off of our crown jewels! Our Mayor has pledged to build strong, resilient communities – how will he do this, if no space remains where those communities can come together? There are long term alternatives that put people and the future of our city before short term cash. Leicester City Council, put your pretty policies into practice, please.

Mental health effects an amormous amount of people in the workplace. Employers do mot take you seriously, they follow the process to a limited extent. As I sufferer of depression myself , I have had first hand experience of this , no one should have to suffer in silence, or leave there jobs because of lack of understanding and support.

The council ignore resident concerns and is intent on pressing forward despite the transformation of our Winchmore hill into an ugly, congested, concrete jungle with decimated natural beauty and failing business. Enfield council presented false statements and visual plans of green lanes in their 'consultation for the cycle lane scheme - on the drawings no mention was made of tearing up and ripping out ten mature trees along our green lanes to date - and more to come.The residents of Winchmore hill did not agree to the replacement of beautiful mature trees with grey slabs of concrete - 'improving public spaces ' in the council's words. No effort has been made to protect the trees at all despite claims to the contrary . Worryingly letters have been put in local communications to inform residents of more trees 'necessary' to be removed . These were not presented as needing removal in the 'consultation' plans. We live in Winchmore hill because we chose to live amongst greenery and historical mature trees.

IVF treatment is being increasing restricted on the NHS due to budget constraints. Making it impossible for many people to have this treatment. At around £5,000 for a private cycle, it can take many years to save for a treatment. If tax payers could claim back their tax on these payments, it would reduce the final bill by around 30% for a basic rate tax payer, making it a more achievable goal. This treatment for many is not a life choice, infertility is often caused by illness and not just 'leaving it to late'. If people can save tax on buying a bike, why not help people build a family.

People like me were invited to the UK in 2009 to study for a MSc Physiotherapy well before the 35K salary threshold came into existence in 2016. The immigration rule at the time stated we were given 2 years’ visa (PSW) to find a permanent job and if we were able to find a permanent job, we were eligible for indefinite leave to remain if we completed 5 years in our permanent job and our employer still needed us. However, because of this new law, only those people who are earning more than £35,000 on a single contracted salary will be eligible to apply for leave to remain. This law will only discourage people to work for the public-sector organisations such as the NHS where achieving 35K salary within the first 5 years of employment is nearly impossible unless the employee is working in London. People like me who are working 7 days a week and earning well above 35K over the past 2 years with overtime will have to leave their permanent senior physiotherapist NHS job and move to the private sector to fulfil this salary threshold. After the Royal College of Nursing highlighted the impact of this law on the nurses staffing level the Home Office have exempted all nurses from this law however, other important professions such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, many doctors, IT professionals and many engineers are not exempted. We do respect the government’s idea of training UK citizens but they must understand that training them takes time and needs senior staff to train them. Due to our job role, we now provide clinical education to university students and juniors. Also, moving trained people like us from Birmingham to London/private sector will have no impact on immigration however it will only cost money to the NHS to employ more locum staff. The Charted Society of Physiotherapy argues that 500 additional physiotherapists are needed UK-wide each year up to 2020 to meet the demand, with services already facing supply shortages. In the year 2015, Health Education England, a government body, cut the number of physiotherapy training places in England alone by 6.2 per cent, 95 fewer places than the previous year. There were just 1448 NHS-funded training places for the 2016/17 intake. Also due to NHS bursaries cuts and 14% pay cuts to the NHS employees in real terms, less people will be inclined towards health professional courses hence it will be a wise decision to bring the threshold to 28K (average UK salary) so that the Tier 2 visa holders who are already working will be able to continue their work in the UK. We started a petition earlier on this issue #anand35k which gained lot of popularity and 13,346 signatures but due to the general election, our deadline was brought forward by 9 weeks and we had to stop our campaign. I hope we win this time otherwise the NHS and many big companies will be losing experienced trained staff. It will not do justice to the employers who have spent so much money on our training and it will be an injustice to the people who have made their home in the city they are living in.
