There is a NEED for this facility. This only highlights the councils need to sell off public amenities. We need to stop these changes and speak up for what is right.

We are killing our planet, choking oceans, swimming in rubbish and are even consuming microplastics due to our the way we treat this long-lasting – sometimes everlasting – material. We chuck it away, and it's out of sight, but, no, it doesn't magically disappear. And it can't all be recycled, either. The use of plastic has to drop – and fast. Changing the way we buy fruit and veg is a place to start. If we can get rid of/ reduce the use of plastic shopping bags, we can certainly do the same for fruit and veg and then see where else the same principle can be applied to other categories of food. There is transparent paper packaging available so goods can be batched and sealed, so there are no excuses to sit back and wait. The time for sharing pictures and posting horrified emojis of the damage we are wreaking on the planet – and our own bodies – is up. Thanks for reading this. The UK spends around 2.3 billion a year on dairy products, and last year the average UK person bought 10.9 kgs of yogurt. Most of those yogurt-type products come in hard plastic containers that can never be recycled, often with a non-recyclable plastic lid on top. There’s no need for this - most of these products could be packaged in paper cartons or glass (many of the “luxury” yogurts already are!). I’m calling on the UK dairy industry to ditch plastic cartons in favour of other sustainable, recyclable & environmentally-friendly packaging

Erin Pizzey is a bonafide hero, having stood for justice when other would not and suffered persecution for her correct beliefs. She has maintained and contributed to making Britain great and socially just. And for her troubles, she has received no recognition from her home country and it is a disgrace. Erin Pizzey's should be recognized for her dedication and contributions by a grateful nation and included in the New Year's honours list. She is worthy of appointment to the noble Order of the Garter or at least should be awarded an MBE.

Human rights are being abused for profit, the public should be made aware of the where and how their food is being grown at the expense of human life and the environment. There are many issues here, the British and Spanish Governments must be made aware of the horrifying scenario immigrants are being subjected to. Thousands of people toil under the polythene sheeting that make up the huge greenhouses. They’re mostly migrant workers, Moroccans, Senegalese and Malians, who have gone to Spain seeking a better life, many risking their own lives on the way. Working in the polythene greenhouses temperatures can sometimes soar to 50 degrees. Up to 120,000 people work producing nearly three million tonnes of fruit and veg every year for export to Britain and across northern Europe. Some actually live inside this plastic hothouse. At night, when the security gates are closed, they are locked in. Some who dare to complain of any ailments can be blacklisted, leaving them stranded with no money to get back to wherever they travelled from. Some of the Physical illnesses are caused by pesticides, which are sprayed during working hours where workers are exposed to the deadly and toxic atmosphere, they are not given masks or safety goggles to protect themselves from potentially fatal outcomes to the exposure. How can we sit at our dinner tables knowing that the men and women, who are someones, mother or father, son or daughter are being treated like modern day slaves in order to feed the rest the UK and the rest of Europe. Michael Gove and George Eustice need to be sure that the food they claim they want to be safe and sustainable is not jeopardizing human life in the process..The most heinous thing about this is this nothing new, this has been going on since the 1980s!!!! What will it take to make these Governments stop and change this shocking situation..DEFRA need to scrutinise the integrity of who we buy and import our food from! Together with the environment ministers who should question the side effects of the disposal of the discarded polythene..Please sign the petition to get fair working conditions for these poor migrants, they are human beings.

This is important to me because my cousin is fighting at this moment of time against the government to stay in this country. She came here when she was 12 and lived most her life here. Her mother died and she couldn't go to her funeral. There is so much she wants to achieve for e.g. university and she can't. There is so much more like her struggling in Britain and they need the support.

Firstly, I would like to say that this nation owes everything to the service men and women who have given everything in the defence of the nation. Secondly, if it wasn't for them everything that we know as being British wouldn't have happened without their sacrifice. George Edwin Ellison of the 5th Lancers was born in Leeds, England and was one day away from being safe and surviving the war alive but it was fate that decided, he would have to give all, for his family, friends, and country men to have peace. Lastly, this year is 2018 and its almost been 100 years since George Edwin Ellison laid down his life for us to live in peace, but who was he but a man among meny. The last of our finest, who died in the name of prosperity and peace. I believe that by putting George Edwin Ellison on the new 50 pound note is an amazing way for the nation to remember the people who have given us all.

Maidstone is a highly populated town with plenty of traffic and a centralised population. This means that many residential roads become "rat runs" for cars looking to avoid traffic on the major roads. A 20mph limit will make our residential roads safer.

As it stands, less than half of the community council (CC) were chosen by the public. There have been 5 new members since the beginning of May 2017 but none of these vacancies was advertised on the CC website or social media and yet a select few were able to find out about the vacancies and put their names forward.

This petition is important as this is the primary reason the NHS exists today. Let this not be another story where a family has to go private with their healthcare due to the NHS failures and government turning their backs on its people. Ultimately Abigail Bolt's life can be significantly improved given a decision to allow the necessary medication be made available.

As the new school term gets underway, school cleaners and janitors employed across Ayrshire by the local schools contractor, Mitie, are taking to the streets to campaign against their second-class treatment by Mitie and the local council. GMB Scotland, the union for school support staff, is stepping up its campaign for a Living Wage for school cleaners. GMB Scotland is also demanding that janitors working in local schools, which are operated on behalf of North, South and East Ayrshire councils by the contractor, Mitie, are paid at least the same as council employed janitors. Members of the public across Ayrshire will be asked to sign petitions backing the cleaners and janitors at special street stalls organised by the union in Kilmarnock, Ayr and Irvine over the next few weeks. In each of the 13 Mitie managed schools across Ayrshire low paid, predominantly women, workers are being treated as second class citizens with the full knowledge of the political leadership of local councils. School cleaners employed by Mitie are paid nearly £1 below the Scottish Living Wage, currently £8.75 an hour, which is paid as a minimum to every other council worker. Many of these workers transferred to Mitie's employment from the local council but have seen their pay erode year on year compared to their colleagues, doing the same jobs, and still employed by the council. There are even examples of women working in school kitchens and also as school cleaners who see their rate of pay drop when they change a council overall for a Mitie one.
