The slow and uncoordinated official response to the Grenfell fire is evidence of a need to have a centralised and powerful agency able to step in on demand with humanitarian aid within the UK's borders. Shelter, food, manpower, the reassurance of an official presence. The power to requisition necessary supplies, transport, and property. The UK armed forces already provide a ready supply of personnel and equipment on standby, as the use of troops in the 2012 Olympics evidenced. The new agency should have a remit to supply humanitarian support for national and localised serious emergencies, such support during major national disasters (flooding etc), serious terrorism incidents, and in other disasters, such as the Grenfell fire.

The Grenfell Tower fire is the worst residential fire since World War 2. It demands a serious, immediate attention.

Political satire is important. It's comedy but with a genuine message and a social narrative that doesn't just cut through the partisan mud slinging; It holds it up to the light and mocks it for absurd and useless, waste of time it actually is. With brexit looming the only way that the UK can have a strong negotiating position is from working together. We must stand strong with Europe for European values against the Trump government. Germany works very successfully with a coalition of left and right.

Trump has shown himself to be unworthy to hold the position of President of the US through many actions and comments and most recently by his deliberately misleading reference to comments made by Sadiq Khan relating to security matters in London. If Trump were to come there will be huge public discontent throughout the UK . There would be an unjustifiable security cost to protect him at a time when all our security resources should be concentrated on the high level of risk of more terrorist activity against the general population.

Donald Trump's ill-judged, offensive and divisive response to 3/5/17, and his internet harassment of London's democratically elected Mayor, disqualify him for the honour of a state visit.
