• Washington Street litter campaign
The bins are used by non Washington Street residents as one of the only streets in Hanover with communal bins. Fly tipping happens on a daily basis, microwaves, beds, furniture etc and litter is strewn everywhere along the road and streets. Once the bins get full the lids do not close and the seagulls then get in creating more mess. It's unhygienic and the bins are a total eye sore.

  • Get Rid of the IPP sentence that was abolished
I was given an IPP sentence on the day they made changes that to the sentence so you could not receive small tariffs. I have been out of prison since Oct 2013, but not everyone has Bren lucky to get parole and since all of this the sentence has been abolished. It is important to me as an IPP released prisoner, the sentence messes with people mentally and people are suffering and being forget about in prison.

  • Continued support for clinically vulnerable and their households
The government made a decision at the beginning of the lockdown to stop ICU and funeral homes being overwhelmed by asking the most vulnerable to shield themselves from catching the disease, and offering them support to do so. Now that the prevalence of Covid-19 is lower in the UK, it is less likely that people out and about will catch it, so even if those who are considered likely to become seriously ill or die should catch COVID-19, the numbers in ICU or dying will not be so great as to overwhelm the capacity in NHS or funeral homes. The government has therefore Made the decision to say that the vulnerable will no longer be advised to shield themselves from 1/8. This doesn’t mean that these people are no longer at risk if they do catch the disease, just that as fewer people in the population are infectious, they are less likely to come into contact with them and catch the disease. Those who will probably die if they catch the virus will lose government support to continue to shield themselves beyond 1/8, that’s fine if they don’t don’t need government support, so the wealthier will be OK. What about those who could catch the disease when they go back to work (no further government support to stay off work - SSP For shielding to end), what about those who could catch the disease out shopping (if they can’t afford to pay extra for delivery), what about those who could catch the disease at the job centre (unemployed people must attend to continue to receive benefits)? Obviously the government must continue to open the economy so that those who are at little risk can return to something like normal, but this should not be at the expense of the Most vulnerable people - those living with serious medical conditions, who are also very poor! The government should continue to offer financial support to poorer people who are at high risk of dying if they catch the illness, if they and their family decide that they wish to continue to shield until there is a cure or vaccine for COVID-19.

  • One way system for Cogan
The residents feel that as these streets are particularly narrow it is causing problems for vehicles to pass. Thus is causing major problems and is also a health and safety problem.

  • Changes in planning laws
Prevents the destruction of habit and greenspace, when building on farmland. Allows people to voice their opinions and concerns in regard to their local environment. It also maintains social equality within an area, e.g how is it fare that someone born hear can’t afford a house in the area but someone else moving in can?

  • Get the 410 back on Auckland AND keep the Low Traffic Neighbourhood
We've enjoyed the quieter roads that we've had because of roadworks and lockdown. We want to keep Auckland Road as it is: 1. No longer a rat run with threatening speeds and dangerous overtaking. 2. Less polluted, less noisy, less traffic jams. A liveable neighbourhood. 3. The freedom to allow people to walk, cycle and scoot. This all contributes to a stronger, healthier community. We DO want to see a return of the 410 bus. The bus gate will: 1. Allow the elderly, the young and the less able-bodied the chance to visit Crystal Palace and Croydon without walking too far. 2. Allow the bus to travel without getting stuck in traffic jams. A quicker, more efficient service! This would begin to transform the area. This will be a "change for good".... #streetspace

  • Keep BBC Local Radio in England “local”.
Over the last few years communities across the UK have lost their local commercial stations which have in effect been replaced by national stations with bare bones local opt outs at breakfast. BBC are now the main provider of truly local radio across the UK, providing news and information relevant to your local area, specialist music programmes, and programmes that cater for minority audiences. It seems when cutbacks are made at the BBC local services always seem to be hit first. Sadly the current proposals seem to be drastically eroding the local service and the fear is that over time this important service will disappear all together.

  • Shut unethical garment factories in Leicester
This is currently urgent and important because multiple factory owners have admitted to not locking down when none of them were producing essential goods. This has lead to an unfettered spread of COVID 19 in these factories and in the crowded living quarters and transport that the workers are forced to inhabit. Even without this currently lethal behaviour, the operation of factories who pay workers less than the minimum wage and feel it appropriate to force their workers into unlawful situations, is not to be condoned. A system which allows multi million pound retailers to take advantage of unscrupulous factory managers is broken and needs fixing forthwith, in order to drag Leicester away from the Victorian era and into a greener, fairer 21st century. Ideally, following factory shut downs, education and other assistance will be provided for the unemployed workers so that they have other choices and these factories can no longer operate amywhere in the UK.

  • Add a "Company Leave Date" filter on LinkedIn Sales Navigator
Problem: When looking for profiles from a company of interest (specifically "past not current"), the system pulls up all the people that have previously worked at the company, including people that have left 20-30 years ago. This means that for each search there are so many pages to flick through filled with people that aren't relevant to the search. Suggestion: When looking for people from a company of interest, it would be good to have an extra filter that links that company with a date bracket that people have left between (e.g. 2017 - 2019). This would ensure that only the people that have left the company between those dates are pulled up. Result: This would enable a highly-targeted, impactful and faster search, thus increasing speed and improving workflow, this would be an absolute lifesaver!!

  • Ban Disposable BBQs
Fires started by disposable BBQs have ireversably destroyed moorland and ancient forests, wildlife and habitat. They are a regular cause of property fires. They damage parks and other public spaces annually. Dealing with fires, their long term consequences and the litter they create is a huge cost to charities, local authorities and the taxpayer. Proposed regional bans will be ineffective. This is a major environmental challenge requiring a national ban.

  • Decolonising the Curriculum
A comprehensive understanding of Britain's own influence in colonial rule should be at the epicentre of the social understanding of current and essential issues such as racism. Britain’s role in colonialism and the effects this continually has globally, as well as upholding white privilege and institutionalised racism, are subjects that, if taught to teenagers, would do so much for deconstructing racism in our current society and in British culture as we know it. This is especially important in an area like Burghfield Common, where over 93% of the population is white. Although this is a subject that should be taught in schools across the UK, the homogeneous population in Burghfield Common and the surrounding areas means that it is particularly important that this issue is taught at The Willink School. We would like nothing better than ensuring that future generations of Willink pupils have a whole, comprehensive education at the school.
