Over the lifetime of the Hub, students developed and led their own sustainability projects through our WHOLE EARTH? Fellowships Programme, helped local enterprises recognise and develop their sustainability potential in the Green Impact Enterprise project, reviewed the university’s focus on sustainability in the study programmes working as Sustainability Researchers in the Education for Sustainability initiative, and worked on a number of other projects such as Grow At Home and Behind Your Screen. The Hub provides a great example that illustrates the institutional responsibilities and provides a programme that helps utilise our knowledge, skills, creativity and passions to act responsibly and as active, engaged citizens. The proposed closure of the Hub takes away this opportunity that helps not just the students on many different levels, but also the University, the Students’ Union and the wider community. Nigel Farage has been an MEP since 1999 and despite his loathing of it, he has been happily pocketing the £84,000 annual salary. His record of attendance would see most children thrown out of school as he skives most sessions and is currently ranked 746th out of 751 MEP's when it comes to voting on any legislation. He has been fundamental in the UK voting for Brexit, however despite this he is still going to claim his salary for the next two years (in addition to all the expenses that accompany the position). As an MEP he will also be entitled to a monthly "pension" of £5,400 for life which is a waste of tax payers money from whichever country it has come from.

The country, and the people of Kingswood, recently voted for a shake up of British politics. Citizens of Kingswood feel underrepresented by the political system in the United Kingdom. Mixed-member proportional representation, as used in the devolved assemblies of Scotland, Wales and London, ensures that the views and concerns of all citizens in each constituency are better represented at a national level. At the 2015 general election 24,873 voters in Kingswood, 51.7% of the voting public, saw their votes count for nothing. Their votes for Labour, UKIP, the Liberal Democrats, the Greens, the BNP, TUSC and Vapers In Power did not contribute to the election of a single MP in Westminster. Their voices have effectively been silenced. The story is the same all over the country. UKIP received nearly 4 million votes and only 1 seat, the Greens received over 1 million votes and also only 1 seat. The result of the 2015 election was arguably the least representative in modern history, leaving voters powerless and disillusioned. This is not democracy. We, the people of Kingswood, urge you to represent our wishes and take every opportunity to back mixed-member proportional representation in your role as our MP.

Tuition fees are currently set at flat rate of £9k per student per year regardless of the future value that each student will deliver to the country. This is short sighted and counterproductive, producing thousands of graduates that no-one needs and students destined to undertake "non-graduate" jobs. At their age, money talks. Being offered a "free" degree in Computer Science, for example, will encourage more candidates to apply to learn useful skills.

We want to make sure that all children and adults are educated on how people could end up on the streets and what homeless people have to go through everyday. In particular, we think this is important because we live in Brighton and homelessness is a problem locally which is only getting worse. We do not believe that the people of Brighton treat homeless people fairly because everyone assumes they have drug problems or that they don't want to work and educating everyone would help them understand that this is not always the case.

In the 1960's armed security personnel forcibly evicted the islanders against their will, first killing all their pet dogs as a warning. Some stragglers were finally driven out by starvation and lack of medical care in the 1970's. The USA has maintained a military base there since the 60's. It is alleged they used Diego Garcia, the largest island, for "extraordinary rendition" torture. 2016 the lease is due. These islands are no longer of any use as a military base. Ownership should be with Maritius not Britain. Late 70's or early 80's some islanders were given a pitiful £6,500 compensation, most got nothing. This injustice should no longer be prolonged by the British Government.

Since the referendum was held it has become clear that many of the claims made beforehand, by both sides, bear little relation to the truth. In addition, the ramifications both of leaving or remaining in the EU are far clearer now than they were at the time the referendum was held. In light of the above we feel the only sensible course to be to allow Parliament to examine the claims and counter claims, consider the ramifications of the two courses of action presented, and then exercise their responsibility as our democratically elected representatives to determine how the National Interest might best be served. The Sovereignty of Parliament was, indeed, one of the main issues of the referendum campaigns. The fate of the nation for decades to come seems far too important to be decided upon party political lines, however, so we would request that in this instance you remove the whip from Conservative Party MPs and allow them vote as their consciences dictate. We would hope that the leaders of the other political parties would follow suit. It is said that the Battle of Waterloo was won on the playing fields of Eton. With all due respect, it would not have been won had Wellington led the British Army to the battlefield then promptly relieved himself of command to leave his subordinates to argue over the army's subsequent direction. History will not be kind to a Prime Minister whose actions, whether intentional or not, led to the most serious constitutional crisis in living memory and who then promptly 'fled the field' to leave his successor to deal with the consequences. When buying a second hand car it is inadvisable in the extreme to take the sellers claims at face value and complete the purchase without having a friendly mechanic examine their validity. Is the Conservative Government really going to attach less importance to the fate of the UK, and indeed Europe, over the next 40 years than the man-in-the-street would attach to a car purchase and fail to perform due diligence regards this issue? During the speech announcing your impending resignation as Prime Minister you said “I love this country and I feel honoured to have served it." Please prove this by performing what could possibly be the most important service of your Prime Ministerial career.

In the light of the recently published Chilcot report on the lead up to and subsequent execution of the Iraq war, it has become clear the incident relating to the death of Dr David Kelly is fundamental to the events leading up to the decision to invade. Dr David Kelly had grave concerns with the evidence used in justification of the war. Jack Straw the foreign secretary at the time belittled both him and his concerns about “sexing up” the government dossier promoting the war. Dr Kellys subsequent suicide left many questions unanswered and conclusions drawn after the Hutton enquiry are less than satisfactory. I believe the events leading up to and following the death of Dr Kelly should be reinvestigated and all files relating to this should be made public.

The local councillor for Ryton campaigned to stop building on the greenbelt, however, she was then given a seat on Gatesheads housing committee and all of a sudden it seems the plans to build have been 'pushed through, the local infrastructure will not cope as the local roads are already gridlocked in the morning and in the evenings and also schools in the local area are almost up to capacity

Too many innocent lives have been lost - Statistics ref BBC: In 2015 - Some 13,286 people were killed in the US by firearms, according to the Gun Violence Archive, and 26,819 people were injured those figures exclude suicide - There were 372 mass shootings in the US in 2015, killing 475 people and wounding 1,870, this is according to the Mass Shooting Tracker, which catalogues such incidents. A mass shooting is defined as a single shooting incident which kills or injures four or more people, including the assailant.. A third of the worlds gun crime is in America. How can Americans show the world that they are a nation of peace and freedom when you have so much gun crime, within America and unfair documented shootings of black individuals?. The world is looking on - observing America's gun laws with great pity - you do not need guns - to show you're a nation of peace - you need friendship and calm. The area in question is the land to the North of Blind Lane in Houghton and has been green, open space for over 40 years and is used by the local community for recreational purposes. Due to several new build developments locally, this is now the only area of green , open space in the locality and is vital for the local community. In 2012, Sunderland City Council carried out a Green space Audit in the area and it was found to be the largest and highest quality green space in the area. It was also identified as serving three purposes; an outdoor sports facility, an amenity green space and as forming part of a green corridor in the area.

If it closes the nearest A & E Departments are Exeter 54 miles away. Taunton 50 miles. Travelling times depend on the volume of traffic and can vary from day to day, and we are talking hours NOT minutes. Both require traveling along 'The Notorious A361' link road to the M5. Anyone with a medical condition called S.V.T. Supraventrical Tachycardia, has to get to an A & E Dept with urgency for a drug called Adenosine. Which has to be injected intravenously then followed by a flushing injection to stop the heart for a split second to get the TWO Halves of the heart to beat normally again. This procedure needs at least TWO Doctors & 3 Nurses present. This is just one, there must be Hundreds if not thousands of medical conditions that need immediate attention I personally had to move house twice to be near an A & E, I don't want to move again at 70yrs old.
