The government’s Prevent strategy, a centrepiece of its national counter-terrorism policy, is stifling the freedoms of children in classrooms across the United Kingdom and is counter-productive. It is leaving a generation of young Britons fearful of exercizing their rights to freedom of expression and belief and is counter-productive by driving children to discuss issues related to terrorism, religion and identity outside the classroom and online where simplistic narratives are promoted and go unchallenged. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQR0QZDPMvU Recent legislation in the form of the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 places an obligation on public sector workers, including teachers and child care providers to report individuals including children considered at risk of being drawn into terrorism based on their perceived association with non-violent extremism. Yet this obligation is based on a vague definition of extremism that includes opposition to ‘British values’, and a set of prescribed indicators of vulnerability to extremism that include ‘a desire for status’ and ‘a need for identity meaning and belonging’. Children in classrooms across the United Kingdom have been impacted by Prevent. For example, a 8-year-old boy was interviewed, without a parent or guardian present, and ‘cautioned’ for wearing a t-shirt with Arabic writing on it. Since the incident, the child is reluctant to return to school and is experiencing stress related health problems. A 16-year-old student with learning disabilities was referred to Prevent for borrowing a book on terrorism from the school library, and a 17-year-old boy who was questioned by police officers about his political and religious views after he was referred to Prevent for expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people. This 17-year-old student also discovered that the police had collected information on him without his or his parent’s knowledge or consent, and was told that this information would be held indefinitely by the police and may be used against him in the future. Prevent is jeopardising the rights of children in the United Kingdom to freedom of expression and education in the name of counter-terrorism. We’re demanding an immediate repeal of the policy. Saltash Train Station is the gateway station to Cornwall. It is the first station to greet travelers to this beautiful county and right now it is going to rack and ruin. This campaign is to request that Saltash Town Council make an offer on the building and facilitate its restoration to its former glory - a welcoming place to greet travelers, holiday makers, day trippers, commuters and local residents. Saltash is such a vibrant and thriving town with so much to offer and if we had a fully operating and welcoming train station it would encourage even more people to stop off and visit this wonderful and historic town. Many of us have children who use the station daily in order to travel to schools, near and far. It would have such an impact on their daily commute, especially on those dark winter mornings and evenings. We already have the historic Brunel Railway Bridge running into our town so lets maximize on this and create a train station that's fit to accommodate such a feat of engineering. Don't let the building be turned into flats! The bus operator Stagecoach is proposing to reduce route 16 and eliminate route 77 connecting the villages of Invergowrie and Kingoodie to Perth, Dundee and Fife. Although Invergowrie is a small community it has two major employers: The James Hutton Institute and Scottish water. It also has a big primary school. The James Hutton Institute employs over 300 people and around 200 pupils attend the primary school. Adding to this the local businesses and around 1,700 residents, the cuts will impact directly a significant amount of people and will have wider consequences for Perth and Kinross, Fife and Dundee. Cuts to the services will: • Increase traffic around the school putting children’s safety at risk • Have a greater impact on vulnerable people such as pensioners, low income families and disabled. • Impact scientific research at the JHI • Increase the risk to cyclist and drivers who in bad weather in winter have the option to take the bus. • Have a negative impact on the environment by increasing traffic. We strongly oppose the proposed measures and reject the consultation done by Stagecoach as it was badly advertised, rushed and restrictive. We call for a new consultation in which residents’ and employees’ concerns can be properly heard and we look forward to finding an outcome that serves our communities better.

It is important because the promises made under this deal was buildings would be constructed and maintain to a high standards. The report found out that many buildings were poorly built and many circumstances dangerous to the occupants. As usual no government minister,health board trust or local authorities wanted to appear on the programme to defend the PFI. As it stands the British tax payer will have to pick up the repair bills.

Please help to save the public space on the South Bank. The controversial Garden Bridge is not needed here. Public money will be wasted for a project the campaign for which was never properly and openly conducted by the previous mayor. This will cost at least 60 million pounds in public money (cost estimates are rising all the time) and will ruin the currently beautiful views from Hungerford Bridge at Embankment towards St Paul's Cathedral. At least 30 beautiful mature trees along the South Bank Thames walkway will be cut down, and the present lovely long walkway, with its existing green open space, will be reduced.

The current 'austerity' policies are hurting only the poorest & most vulnerable people, whilst the wealthy have only gotten wealthier. This has led to the country being more divided than ever in recent years. The 'Brexit' vote is a prime example of this; where the disenfranchised voiced their feelings & now we need our Government to heal these wounds & bring us together, rather than promote further division. Disabled people are suffering particularly as a result of the cut-backs in public spending & we feel victimised. We have a right to try to lead as normal a life as possible & cutting benefits in what is one of the wealthiest nations on Earth is both unjustified & shameful. Many disabled people are genuinely frightened of where these policies might lead & what our future lives may be like. We've seen other people who claim benefits being used as a scapegoat in the media & we worry, 'are we next?'. We want assurances that this will not happen & that we will remain both valid & valued citizens. We hope & pray that these promises to halt these divisive & harmful policies are kept & that our worries are alleviated.

Its only a matter of time before someone gets seriously injured due to inconsiderately parked vehicles.

What has become clear from the Brexit campaign, is the bleakness of the divide between London and the rest of the country. Currently London holds every source of wealth and power in the country, as well as the natural advantages of position and climate. Seriously addressing the north/south divide requires more than moving the odd back office function - only a radical move of this magnitude stands any chance of acting as a catalyst to shift power away from the massively dominant south-eastern corner of the UK; regenerating and re-enfranchising the North. From a practical point of view, at a time when the existing parliament buildings are becoming extortionately expensive to maintain, renovating existing buildings in a northern city would be relatively affordable; MPs expense claims would be reduced and MPs would more readily grasp the reality of life outside the London bubble. Time honoured traditions could be maintained, but with a fresh impetus and relevance for people outside the capital. I am a Londoner, I love London and have no wish to live anywhere else; but I understand London has enough going for it to flourish without parliament - in fact, could well benefit from losing it. There is no question for me that the country as a whole would benefit from the move.
