There is clear evidence that pesticides (such as the herbicide glyphosate) used for pest and weed control across Lewes District are causing declines in biodiversity and are harmful to human health, especially children. Our children need to be able to play safely in the parks of Lewes face down on the ground without fear of exposure to glyphosate and other potentially harmful chemicals. But it is not just children. Everybody who lives, works, plays, visits, or walks their dog anywhere in this beautiful district should have the right to enjoy the area without the fear of coming into contact with unnecessary, toxic chemicals. Glyphosate alone is linked to cancers, infertility, birth defects, and neurological disease. The World Health Organisation has publicly stated that glyphosate ‘probably’ causes cancer. However there are 40 different types of pesticide that can be and are used in and around towns and cities in the UK. Progressive cities such as Paris, Toronto - and recently Brighton - have already voted to end the use of toxic chemicals in all public spaces. If they can do it, so can Lewes District! Effective alternatives for weed control already exist which are not harmful to people, pets, or the environment. Furthermore, the use of non-toxic alternatives will encourage greater local biodiversity - and give us all the pleasure of seeing more bees buzzing, butterflies fluttering, and birds singing! The increase in pesticide use since the 1970s has seen farmland bird populations decline by over 50% and catastrophic declines for insects such as several butterfly and bumblebee species (of up to 70% for some species). The loss of bumblebees and other pollinators has knock-on effects for growing food, as 75% of crops are pollinated by wild insects. So why risk the health of our children, ourselves, and the environment when there is another way? Let us employ non harmful ways of dealing with – or living with- those things that toxic chemicals are used to kill. These products are already available. Not withstanding those images from Euro 96, Stuart Pearce had shown his ability to manage the England under 21 side in the past to success, (and thus knows their potential, there were others he nurtured but were left out of the current side by the former manager). Pearce was the interim manager before Roy Hodgson and so is aware of the pitfalls with this role. England and those fans from other countries loved the attack and strong minded defence of those halcyon days of English game, and not the "at all costs do not lose -a draw is ok" ..Place Pearce at the helm... and watch us roar again.

Do you need to know? I have experienced racism. For a white English native this is probably unusual. For me, the thing that I most wanted was for a load of random people to come up to me and tell me they're glad I'm here. When you hear one racist outburst, you immediately feel that many people must think the same way but don't express it. You wonder what proportion of people begrudge your presence. In my experience, the people who aren't racist are embarrassed by those who are. They feel that it's better to just ignore them and act as though they don't exist. But what is really needed, is for people to come and admit, yes there are some, but not me, and not me, and not me, and not me. WE are ALL happy that you are one of US.

Although not part of the official campaign, Nigel Farage and UKIP did nothing to dispel the claim that we could give £350 million a week to our NHS. Already however, it has come to light that this is unrealistic, which has led many voters to feel they were misled by those who promoted Leave. Although it is not much, it is better than nothing. MEP's earn around €96,000 per year. Although the UK has voted to leave the European Union, until Article 50 is triggered (which as it looks now, could take some time), the UK will still send MEP's to European Parliament. Having campaigned as they have for the UK to leave, and against the European Union, it no longer seems fair they still take their approximate €96,000 yearly salary, plus expenses. Either they should stop claiming EU money, or it should be put to better use. We are asking them to give it to the NHS as a gesture of how committed they are to improving the service.

As a result of the recent #Brexit referendum, world economies generally have been adversely affected with predictions of long term recession particularly for the UK. It beggars belief that our current government is now focused on internal party leadership matters and effectively washing its hands of the affair. Irrespective of individual positions and points of view concerning the referendum and its result, we now need our government to move quickly, clearly and decisively to manage the UK's exit from the EU.

The Referendum victory was based on lies and fear and is already having devastating social and financial consequences. Many voters are already appalled by the reality of what has been chosen. We should not just accept the result of an election won by lies. Not least among these lies was the promise of extra money for the NHS- money now pouring away in extra debt repayments as the UK's credit rating drops. People were conned. We call on all major parties to demand a General Election and to come together in every constituency to offer a single Remain candidate, standing on a ticket of solidarity for Europe and for tolerance and social cohesion. A Remain block could win, producing a mandate to overturn a Referendum vote that was driven by dishonest claims, impossible promises and hate-filled propaganda. We are stronger when we work together for the common good.

as there are no buses running during the night after a certain time here if you are anywhere else in paisley after say 11 30 pm in this area and you get in to the town centre you have to walk from town centre and this is a place whats going for city of culture in 2021 aswell and cant get a bus and also the number 6 service doesnt run too silverburn on a sunday and also this service doesnt run on bank holidays at all. the number 66 runs up this way but not till a reasonable time as it only runs till 7;45 pm is the last time you can get a bus to this area then the 166 takes over and as stated above thats round about time you get last bus at.

The English were misled by a series of lies and omissions of fact by the Brexit campaign. Their main stance on anti-immigration and financial redirection of EU funds to the NHS has since been redacted less than a week after their victory in the referendum, a victory which was based significantly on these two statements of intent. In addition to these mistruths, it is now becoming clear that there are significant financial consequences personally, nationally and internationally to this rash and unchallenged position and the consequences of the Brexit vote are further deep reaching than the Brexit camp ever admitted to. Brexit ran their campaign on a series of rejections of qualified statements from national and international institutions such as the CBI, IMF and the Bank of England amongst international partners such as the USA, Australia and New Zealand as well as our EU partners who all rejected the role of Brexit as a solution to any perceived or real EU issues. In rejecting these qualified statements, Brexit consistently failed to provide adequate evidence against these esteemed institutions whilst at the same time providing little to no evidence of their own ability to manage the subsequent fallout economically and the socially divisive nature of a successful Brexit result, both nationally and on the world stage. As a consequence, I appeal to the English who did not support Brexit or who have subsequently come to realise both the shallow nature of the abilities of the Brexit campaigners to actually effectively manage Brexit and the already occurring consequences to show that Scotland is not alone amongst the UK but is supported by the English who wish to remain within the EU, fighting not for a divided Europe but for a better EU. Hemel Hempstead hospital has been downgraded for many years and patients are forced to travel to Watford. Conservative controlled Herts County Council had the chance to object to the decision to downgrade the hospital and refer the decision to the Secretary of State, but they chose not to. Mike Penning MP has made the hospital an electoral issue in every election since 2005 but nothing has changed. He didn't openly campaign for Leave but said that leaving the EU would be better for Britain. Serving Conservative Ministers said that billions could be spent on the NHS if we voted to Leave. These claims were painted on the side of their bus. We want Mike Penning to put his money where his mouth is and stand up for the people of Dacorum and resign if Leave campaign promises on NHS funding are not honoured and we don't get a new hospital for our community.

To our partners in Europe, We need your help. Many of us in Great Britain are distraught at the results of our EU referendum. We are sad, horrified, ashamed and worried. We do not want to be torn away from a Union which enriches our lives and is so strongly part of who we are. We appreciate that we live in a democracy where our opinions, and choices, are not all the same. But this choice, one which will have an immeasurable impact on our lives and our futures - on our children and grandchildren’s futures - is too devastating not to challenge. We would request that you consider the following before any motion to formally sever Britain’s membership of the EU is accepted: 1) You will be aware of the small margin by which the Leave side won, and that those who voted to Leave represented only 37% of the electorate. 2) You no doubt also know that amongst the younger demographic of voters - on whom this will have the most-felt and longest effect - the results were overwhelmingly to Remain (it’s worth noting, too, unlike during the 2014 referendum on Scottish independence, the voting age was not extended to include 16 and 17 year olds, despite the impact it will have on them). 3) You may be aware of the astonishing untruths - not just the general political scaremongering, which was certainly present on both sides - but very specific lies blatantly presented as facts, which were a foundation of the Leave campaign, encouraging votes based on information which was utterly fabricated. That in itself should have been illegal: if this were a court case, would the prosecution be allowed to invent evidence without there being a mistrial? The Leave claims are being increasingly exposed, undermining the integrity of the result. 4) Those who led the Leave campaign have now publicly admitted that they had no plan in place for Britain in the event that they won; a criminally cavalier lack of responsibility regarding the welfare and livelihoods of millions in the UK and beyond. 5) As this was an advisory referendum only, there is no legal obligation for the result to be implemented; in fact, it would be disastrously irresponsible to do so. Already, we are becoming crushed under an avalanche of consequences, including the break up not only of the European Union, but the United Kingdom, as we watch Scotland (entirely justifiably) claim another referendum for their independence. The Northern Ireland peace process is also now in jeopardy. We appreciate that our alliance with the EU may not be perfect and, like any partnership, needs to evolve and be subject to reform. But the question of our EU membership should never have been put to a public vote, one which was only offered in an effort for David Cameron to win General Election support his party feared would be lost to others. This was a gamble with catastrophic consequences for millions. On both sides, our people - those who wished to Leave, and those who wanted to Remain - have already been let down by poor governance, over many years, which has created deeply felt inequality, divisiveness and distrust. We have been encouraged to feel under attack, from those outside the UK, both through immigration and bureaucracy (as with other countries, we are caught in a race to the bottom from those pedaling a smokescreen of anti-European, anti-immigration sentiments). But our membership of the European Union has become something of a red herring, a false target at which to direct this anger. That anger is understandable: but please, please don’t let the circumstances surrounding this referendum - a spitting cauldron of misinformation and disenfranchisement - leave us with a result that is only very dangerously furthering the divide. Our country has deep wounds which will take time, effort and great change to heal, but millions of us believe that leaving the EU will only further hurt us. Please know that we don’t want to be isolated and fearful, to reverse our country to darker times. We desperately want to remain part of the European Union, to promote peace and opportunity and unification, to look to a better future - a future those who founded the Union wanted for us. And we would hope that support in maintaining our membership of the European Union would further encourage unity between all member nations during these tumultuous times. We implore you to allow us, the citizens of Britain - your fellow committed Europeans - to appeal this referendum result before irreparable damage is suffered by us, and many others throughout Europe. With hope and solidarity,
