The high street as we knew it is dying. Our small market town is suffering a number of established businesses closing with no one wanting to fill the empty premises. Businesses are struggling to survive. Putting extra financial burden on businesses to change signage that the public actually thinks improves the area could discourage other small businesses from opening.

There is no such thing as a “safe” level of air pollution. And while air pollution affects us all, older people, children, people of colour, and people living in poverty are hit the hardest. Mayors, national governments, and all those in power across the political spectrum, must take bold action on air pollution. Getting the most polluting vehicles off our roads – especially those powered by dirty diesel – is a key first step. But this must be backed up with far more investment in walking, cycling and green public transport that is accessible and affordable for all Londoners in all boroughs. Leaders across the country and the world are looking to take similar action on toxic air. What happens here will inspire so many others. This is a chance for London to lead the global movement for clean air, as cities around the world turn to us for inspiration and guidance on how to tackle this deadly challenge. We can’t afford to delay. School support staff have suffered more than a decade of pay cuts and are some of the most undervalued workers in society. Added to this, support staff at Ash Field Academy have been significantly underpaid when compared with comparable roles in LA maintained schools. They need a pay rise at least in line with inflation.

Cyclone Idai affected Zimbabwe, causing a massive landslide in the town of Chimanimani. The next morning, Michelle Chipare discovered that her two-year-old daughter Brenda had died in the disaster. Climate-related disasters not only cause immediate devastation, they pose a long-term threat to the livelihoods of Zimbabweans like Michelle and Brenda, and many around the world. The government will not take any action unless there is a lot of public support, so we would really appreciate your support. Carbon footprint labelling would involve indicating on products and services how many tonnes of CO2 in total were produced in production, transport and use. The company providing the product would be responsible for the labelling, with third party verification. This not a new idea but implementation has not been standardised or mandated. Pursuing such carbon footprint labelling legislation would help to reduce footprints, reduce the CO2 produced, and reduce the severity of the climate disasters we are already seeing and that we will otherwise see more and more. Carbon footprint labelling will support the understanding of carbon footprinting in schools. Pupils and teachers will be empowered to change their behaviour, schools will know how to and want to tackle their carbon footprints, and the knowledge will be passed on to others. Like most people, I love nature. As greenhouse gas emissions remain stubbornly high, I live in fear of the consequences of climate change that will befall my grandchildren. Climate change is projected to force a ½ billion people to migrate if China floods or suffers a drought, both of which are likely if emissions are not reduced drastically as soon. Many of us fear the conflicts that may follow human displacement on such a scale. The ongoing conflicts in Sudan and Syria at present are exacerbated and partly caused by scarcity of vital resources brought about by climate change, showing that these fears are already manifesting. 80% of us are extremely anxious about the continuing deterioration of the climate. Surveys indicate people think the Government is not doing enough to fight the climate war, and 90% of us want more action.

If any of us speed there is a clear system that we have to abide by. We pay the fine or go on the course and learn from our mistakes. But Home Secretary Suella Braverman has been alleged to have tried to fiddle the system - trying to get civil servants and her aide to arrange a private awareness course for her. If found guilty of breaking the code this would not be the first time Suella Braverman has done so. Back in October 2022 she was found to have sent confidential documents outside the Government, using a private email address. She was forced to resign - then reappointed a week later. Enough is enough. If she has broken the code again, she should be removed from post.

I believe there is no more deserving person than him for what he has done. I believe that the more people who join me in this endeavour the more chance we have of Kevin Sinfield getting what he deserves.

Its important to reduce sewage in our waters. It is also important that we prevent privatised water companies yet again abusing their monopoly by charging the consumer to fix the problem they created

This is the only way the people of this country can regain faith in a system that has become infested with lies, hypocrisy and greed. Since privatisation these companies have paid out £65 billion to shareholders while presiding over an industry that most countries would be ashamed of. The majority of people would, I believe, be surprised and angered to be told that sewage overspills amounted to nearly 1000 in total in a year. But no, how do you begin to process the information that these amount to an average of almost 1000 a day. I'm tempted to believe that no sewage is ever processed, it's simply dumped into our rivers and seas. And in this year of shame dividends to shareholders almost tripled from £540 million to £1.4 billion. So we come to this past week when we finally, after 34 years, get a mealy-mouthed apology from Ruth Kelly of Water UK, which represents these companies, at the same time announcing a £10 billion investment over the next 7 years. To be funded by the water companies? No. By you and I. I am asking the Labour and Liberal Democrat parties to do what I believe a huge number of people in this country want them to do, and commit to nationalising these companies and providing the new organisations with the funding to put right the incompetence and greed of the last 34 years.

We understand that West Lothian Council is currently undertaking a mapping exercise to understand how community centres are utilised by community groups. The likely outcome of this exercise will be the closure of Torphichen Community Centre at some point between 2025 and 2028. This would be travesty for our village where we rely on this community space and it is currently fully utilised. We need to try and stop this erosion of our community facilities by the Council and ensure that Torphichen Community Centre remains open for future generations. This is an essential facility for our village community. It is used by Torphichen Primary School for their assembly and sports activities. It is home to our After School Club, Jumping Beans, Torphichen Gala Day events, Beecraigs Archers, Zumba with Rachel and Pilates. Without this facility, there will be no-where else in the village for these activities to take place. This would be a blow for our community so please sign this petition to support the fight in attempting to keep our Community Centre open.

The Disabled Facilities Grant helps people with disabilities make changes to their homes so they can continue to live there. Thousands of families with disabilities now are faced with making up the shortfall for the grant. For example a 3x3m extension of living space with no adaptations is costed at over £45,000. Therefore families, including my own are forced to try and raise upwards of £15,000. If that money is not available we have to go without vital adaptions to live comfortably and with dignity.

The Derby Diocese Board of Education want to increase our lease fees by 6 times, we cannot afford this. We are concerned that the site will be sold for housing development, the village needs a preschool more than a few more houses. Our preschool and after school club have nowhere else to go. Jobs would be lost and our children's education and school preparation adversely affected. A little bit of the village would die. As President of the Board you love Derbyshire, help us please. Willington needs you. If Willington Old School is lost, then so might the preschool and the after school club. They are both fully booked, they are needed. Where will people send their children instead? Nowhere! There is a national shortage of preschool places right now. Don't make that worse, let us stay open. Protect jobs and look after our children. Save our school

It would make situations where traffic lights have gone faulty safer and easier for drivers to understand. In many foreign countries - Europe and America for example, when traffic lights are either inactive or defective they change to a flashing yellow mode (as can be seen in the Disney movie Cars). This advises drivers that the traffic lights are either not active or defective and they should proceed with caution. In the UK however we have a system where defective traffic lights go to an 'all-red' mode and temporary traffic lights just turn themselves off when they're not active. This type of system however causes confusion for drivers - when the traffic lights fail and go to all red both sides are sat there looking at each other not sure who should make the first move or whether the light itself is just a bit delayed changing. Seeing a flashing yellow would give the drivers on both sides an indication that the lights have malfunctioned and therfore they should take it in turns. In addition to this it would stop motorists having to take the risk at faulty lights of disobeying the red light or waiting until someone arrives to fix the light. Also a similar thing can happen on temporary lights too - when a temporary light is turned off at present the light just goes fully off to indicate it is not in use, however on some occasions I have approached temporary lights and found the red light to be out even though the light is active. Now had drivers not noticed the other lights they might misconcieve the red light being out as the light being inactive - but again if the light is flashing yellow when it's inactive the drivers approaching a light with a red light out would be aware that the lights are actually active and that is just a blown bulb.
