The car ferry companies are are charging far too much for there crossing to the mainland. There are lots of people that cannot afford and they are cut off from the mainland and feel very isolated. We need to find a much fairer solution for everybody concerned who needs to use the car ferry to get to the mainland.

Giving a platform to animal abuse as Facebook is doing is going to encourage it.

My son is one of the death to suicide statistics for 2023. My beautiful son, Liam suffered for nearly 6 years battling with OCD, he was told he required inpatient care due to his severe life impacting OCD. This was never offered and he committed suicide on 5th May 2023. The UK has only one NHS 24 hour care facility nationally, providing 10 beds for both OCD and BDD patients. Around three quarters of a million people are thought to be living with severe, life impacting and debilitating Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) here in the UK. Death-to-suicide rates in OCD sufferers are shown to be as high as 1.4%. This might not seem important. Pencil sharpeners are cute, colourful, they look pretty and safe. Until you find one in your child's Self-Harm kit you have no idea how dangerous these are. It's so easy to break one they're usually cheap. In less than a minute your child has a weapon. Self Harm is on the rise. Sometimes there's a reason they're doing this to themselves and sometimes sadly it's just what their mates are doing. Once they start though it can become a compulsion and can be very difficult to stop.

The Foreign Office spent over £13m last year on private school fees for diplomats' children to attend schools like Eton, all funded by the taxpayer. This is happening while the government is failing to tackle NHS waiting lists and public sector strikes over pay. The government needs to win back public favour and tackle the issues we're all facing - a massive public petition telling them to stop spending our taxes on private school fees and use the £13.7m for our NHS and other public services instead could convince them to scrap this policy.

Online slots are highly addictive and highly profitable, with more people needing treatment for gambling disorder after using them than any other gambling product. Up to 1.4 million people are already addicted to gambling in the UK and every day at least one person takes their life because of gambling. The government has announced plans to reduce online slot stakes – which are currently unlimited – to either £2, £5, £10, or £15 or “none of the above”. Online slots can spin every 2.5 seconds, severely impacting mental health, meaning people can lose vast amounts very quickly, even with a £2 limit. Sign this petition and tell the government 2.5 seconds per spin is too fast and even a £2 stake limit would ruin more lives – slots must be slowed and stake limits reduced to much lower levels.

Did you know, alcohol for MPs and Lords is subsidised in the Houses of Parliament by taxpayers money. Last year, almost £500,000 was spent on drinks for those working in the parliamentary estate including 46,562 pints of beer and 2,800 bottles of bubbly. Recently, Westminster ethics chief has said that the sale of alcohol in Parliament is being kept “under review”. But right now, those who have the power to end the subsidised booze do not know exactly what the public thinks of this expense. A huge petition will show that we do not want our taxpayer money going towards discount booze when it could be better spent elsewhere such as our NHS or schools.

The BBC is an excellent, impartial public service. However, I firmly believe its purpose should be to simply inform and educate. When we, the public, are forced to pay for it, is there really any need for 'entertaining' programmes that the private sector would quickly step in to fill the void? For example not everyone wants to pay for Eastenders. I'm thinking particularly of sports, soaps, etc. These will always get coverage without us being forced to pay for them. For example, people still watched the Premiership when it was free to view on ITV. I also think this would reduce the burden on the BBC's finances.

To end the suffering of wildlife and other animals that are killed in the name of fun ( sport ) and make those that enjoy the kill criminal.

Having a designated village hall/community centre is much more than bricks and mortar. It brings people together, to meet the needs of the community, to engage the community in projects , to socialise, educate , engage in physical , creative and educational activity, to make memories and friends. If it’s sold to housing developers , the chance is lost forever to create something special for our village in this space.
