My name is Gaia the Garbage. I help run Ecologisers, a Young People's Anti-litter Campaign. These are: Alternative Santa, LItter Goes LIterary, the Children's Humorously Captioned Photography Competition and the writing of EcoSongs. I've written 45 EcoSongs. Put upbeat celebratory eco-lyrics to famous out-of-copyright tunes. This project and others like it are important because the way we tackle problems, including global problems, is not solution-oriented. It's quick-fix or commerically-led. Though we have been running this campaign for 4 years we have funded it ourselves as litter is seen as the pariah of the enivronmental movement. Numerous applications for funding we have made have failed. At Ecologisers we want to make litter 'sexy'!!

Globally, more than 800 investors with combined assets of $6 trillion USD have already made commitments to divest from fossil fuels. We have the opportunity for Highland to be the first Local Authority in Scotland to divest from fossil fuels! Six other UK Local Government pension funds have already done so. By investing in fossil fuel extraction, Highland Council are profiting from climate change. As public bodies, local governments have a responsibility to work for the public good; they shouldn’t be financially and politically supporting the most destructive industry on the planet. Fossil fuel investments undermine Highland Council’s own climate change strategies, as well as our national and international commitments. £2.3 million of the Highland Council's Pension Fund is invested in BHP Billiton, the 12th largest extractor of coal in the world. They are currently mining in the centre of the Borneo rainforest and facing prosecution over Brazil's worst ever environmental disaster. They also have £12.6 million invested in Shell, who have paid millions of dollars in fines over their oil operations in Nigeria, are threatening to drill in the Arctic and are involved in shale gas fracking in the US (a process banned in Scotland). What could change look like? We are in the midst of a housing crisis, youth unemployment is high and inequality is rising. New technologies like electric cars, wave power and floating wind can bring green jobs to our communities, whilst investment in green housing and insulation could house millions and cut fuel poverty. Council pension funds can back this change by shunning fossil fuels and investing locally in green jobs, social housing and renewable energy. By divesting from fossil fuels, Highland Council, together with other public and financial institutions, can collectively help fund a more sustainable future for the people of Highland and around the world. The Russian use of chemical weapons on UK territory is an act of war. The reckless use of a highly toxic chemical in a public place exposed many innocent people to mortal danger and showed contempt for the rule of law, UK sovereignty and human rights. The UN was originally set up for the express purpose of preventing acts of war between member states. Any unilateral sanctions against Russia by the UK will not have the impact or the authority of an international resolution of all states reaffirming the international rule of law. In these times of increasing international insecurity, it's vital that all peace-loving nations come together in solidarity to condemn such actions by rogue states.

The potholes are dangerous to the public and drivers and Nottinghamshire county council and highways agency are nit bothered

So many children along with families and elderly are put at risk each day crossing the main road through Penpedairheol. There has been a number of accidents and children knocked down by the sheer number of cars which use the roads and the lack of visability due to parked cars. It is essential that our local council pay attention to ensuring we live in a safe environment in order to prevent a fatality.

Retirement-age UK citizens who migrated from commonwealth countries as children, and who have lived, worked, and paid taxes in the UK for several decades, are now having their rights as British citizens called into question. British citizens are being denied NHS treatment, evicted from council homes and denied the right to work, on the basis that they do not have the paperwork to prove their entitlement to these basic British, and fundamentally human, rights. Take the case of 63 year old Albert Thompson. He has lived and worked in London for 44 years, but was recently denied NHS treatment for cancer because he is not able to produce a British passport. He will only receive the treatment if he can produce the £54,000 needed to fund it. He arrived from Jamaica as a teenager, but the Home Office is disputing his eligibility to remain here. Last year he was evicted from his council-owned accommodation because the Home Office suddenly questioned his eligibility. According to the migration charity Praxis, they have seen a sharp rise in cases like this since records began in 2015. British citizens cannot allow this callous treatment of our friends and neighbours to continue.

Shepway is fast becoming a tourist location that is popular for many. For us who live here, the beaches and canal are the places we go for leisure, for exercise, for stress relief, to enjoy and the council are taking that away from us. We should be able to enjoy this area without paying! Not only are they charging, they have put the machines the opposite side of the road, a danger waiting to happen. Sign this petition, show support and let us put pressure on these councillors!

It is unfair to allow new students to access the new maintenance loans whereas existing students are unable to have the new loans at all. It is not justified and is seriously unfair for anyone who has already started their courses.

Young people are losing their exposure to outside spaces and they need to regain their sense of adventure and wonder. When children are becoming more and more focused on phones and gadgets, it is no time to close our outdoor centres and lose the skills of trained staff.

There is currently only one bus (103) that operates directly outside of Rainham Essex c2c rail station, however there are three other buses that operate in the local area. Therefore, we want the Mayor and Transport for London to direct the 287, 372, and 165 buses to stop at the Rainham Interchange bus stop (outside Rainham station). This new bus route will enable people to more easily change between buses and the train, at any time of the day. By introducing this additional bus stop, it will connect the 287, 372, and 165 buses to the 103 and provide those with specific mobility requirements with better access to different modes of transport. In addition to the station, the bus stop also directly serves Rainham Library and its nursery so the justification for better connections to it seems overwhelming. This bus stop also has better shelter for people to stand under in bad weather than Rainham War Memorial (D) bus stop, which all buses currently stop at. Residents and commuters will have a direct route towards the station and back home without having to walk through the dark, in bad weather, or out of their way to another bus stop. This will reduce the number of local and short car journeys that drop off and pick people up from the station.
