Last week was one of the coldest weeks we’ve had in a long time . Whilst out on the street we saw people sleeping in door ways with nowhere to go. Local support workers and people who work for homeless shelters told us they were completely packed and didn't have enough space to let in more people. Recently, in Bristol and London, homeless people have been dying on the streets from hyperthermia. In Brighton alone 17 people died in 2017. And last week a homeless man in Lincolnshire died in his tent. This cannot go on.

Currently, in America, you can have your toothbrushes, toothpaste tubes and other Colgate products recycled, and you even get payed for it! You send it to Terracycle and they turn it into other products for building materials. But not in the EU! We have to pay to have them recycled and it costs over £100 a box! Toothbrushes and toothpaste tubes wash onto our beaches in the millions every day, if colgate offered everyone the opportunity to recycle their products, their sales would go up!

It is inhumane to imprison people indefinitely, without being convicted of a crime, often with no legal representation. As one of the detainees has said "We want the Home Office to listen to us and stop the injustice of indefinite detention..It is the uncertainty that is most difficult, I can deal with imprisonment if I know my sentence. But here, there’s no criminal record, and no clarity about what's going to happen to me. It's a pain that we all bear on a daily basis." Because people are being asked to either pay an unjustfied price to keep their current seats and effectively being forced to move from their current seats, price increases are understandable but removal of child ticket options from sections of the ground are not acceptable.

At the moment we are seeing the coldest weather ever and terrible condition. There are so many homeless and their pets with no where to go and are been left to try and survive in this awful weather. There are so many church’s that could open their doors to give people shelter and the community could help run these between them with help from professionals. Introducing anti-homeless benches is not going to solve homelessness in Southampton. The council have a responsibility to support people living on the streets by providing shelters. Instead they are making it harder for those without a roof over there head to get by. Benches can provide a place to sleep that is off the ground and dryer than the floor, and sleeping in the town centre is often safer for people sleeping rough, due to CCTV. Hiding societies problems does not solve them. We want Southampton council to act now!

Children need a safe place to play and socialise, there are no other play areas on the Headland that can facilitate this. Please sign this petition to let council officials know the strength of feeling from local residents.

Throughout the year residents on the Garrison Estate in Shoeburyness are blighted by noise pollution and anti-social behaviour due to New Barge Pier Road being turned into a race track late into the evening. Often the noise generated from scooters, bikes and cars carries on into the early hours of the morning. New Barge pier road is a flat road with a sweeping curve and a hard stop at one end; providing the perfect race track. However, the noise from these drag races disturbs residents on a nightly basis especially during the summer months. As the road can be fairly quiet during daylight hours; this can encourage cars to speed; and given the very close proximity to a public park, nature reserve, primary school and play ground, not to mention 400 + households in the local vicinity; notwithstanding the late night noise pollution, speeding cars are wholly at odds with the number of families, children and animals that come into contact with the road based on the public use encouraged by facilities in the local area. Furthermore, despite the best efforts from the police; given the lack of police resources; residents are simply 'fed up' and at odds with the slow response to late night drag racing. As such we the petitioners believe that traffic calming measures applied to New Barge Pier road will dramatically reduce speeding which in turn will aid the reduction of anti-social behaviour that blights this specific area. This should also reduce the need to call upon already massively strained police resources to attend such matters.

The university employer body, Universities UK (UUK), has proposed an end to the defined benefit portion of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS), drastically reducing the retirement income and security of affected staff. Independent modelling of what the changes would mean for a typical lecturer found they could lose as much as £10,000 a year in retirement income. USS benefits are already lower than other teaching staff pension schemes. These cuts will only weaken both the position of staff in the scheme and the attraction of working in institutions where USS is offered. That’s why USS members in the University and College Union (UCU) have voted overwhelmingly for sustained strike action to defend their pensions from these damaging changes. Strikes which disrupt students’ learning are always a last resort and we are committed to resolving this dispute by meaningful negotiation if possible, but as no agreement has been reached a wave of national strikes began on 22nd February 2018 and is scheduled to continue until 16th March. We support the UCU members taking strike action and call on UUK to engage meaningfully in negotiation with UCU, submit the USS scheme to independent and transparent valuation and agree to UCU's proposals to maintain the sustainability of the scheme. As a college student who drives to college, I fill up my car with petrol around every 7-10 days. I am roughly putting in around £25-£30 every time. I am going to University in September and if I choose to commute (which may be the cheapest option), I will be driving 38.6 miles a day. As a student who is doing a full time course which is very time consuming, finding a way to earn money is crucial to survive. I am aware there is student discount for using public transport, for shops, restaurants etc. but what about reducing the price of fuel? I am a strong believer that this could benefit a lot of students. Petrol is so expensive. Driving my own vehicle will give me the flexibility to work after lectures.

This is absolutely sick and a disgusting trend that has to be stopped as kids are desperate to upload their video to get the most views and likes. The effects on the victims must be horrendous with 100's of comments, views and likes.

Inverclyde commuters have faced annual increases for travelling on the Gourock/Wemyss Bay to Glasgow lines. A yearly season ticket now costs £1796 from Gourock to Glasgow. Despite this high cost and record numbers of passengers on these routes, we have seen modern class 380 trains with comfortable seating, heating, toilets and free WiFi removed to cover "driver training" on other routes and had these carriages replaced with the unreliable, 40-year old class 314 trains with none of the amenities of the newer trains. The Scottish government has now said that these old trains could be running from Inverclyde until 2019. We believe that this is unacceptable and that Inverclyde commuters deserve far better. It is not sufficient for Inverclyde's MSP to ask for the carriages to simply be cleaned, we believe they should be replaced. We call on the Scottish transport minister to use his position to return the newer class 380 trains to Inverclyde immediately.
