• Demand an Investigation into the Home Office's Cannabis Policy and Decision-Making
Lack of Public Discourse: The Home Office's refusal to engage in open, transparent, and inclusive conversations about cannabis policy denies the British public the opportunity to voice their opinions, concerns, and ideas on a matter that affects millions of citizens. Selective Adherence to Expert Advice: The revelation that the Home Office disregarded the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs' recommendation for drug decriminalization while acting on other advice raises questions about the consistency and transparency of decision-making. Impact on Communities: Current cannabis policies have real-life consequences, including criminalization, disproportionate law enforcement, and potential harm to individuals and communities. These policies should be reviewed impartially to ensure they are effective and just. Our Concerns: We are concerned about the perception that certain decisions regarding cannabis policy may have been influenced by interests outside the realm of public welfare. It is important that any investigation into Home Office cannabis policy includes a careful examination of the factors, including potential industry interests, that have influenced decision-making. This should be done to ensure that policies are developed and implemented in the best interests of the public. Our Request: We call upon the UK government to launch a formal investigation into the Home Office's handling of cannabis policy. This investigation should include, but not be limited to: 1 - An examination of the decision-making process regarding cannabis policy, including the factors considered and the extent to which expert advice is followed. 2 - A review of the impact of current cannabis policies on individuals, communities, and public health. 3 - An assessment of the Home Office's commitment to transparent and inclusive public conversations on drug policy matters. We believe that a comprehensive investigation is essential to ensure that drug policies in the UK are grounded in evidence, promote public well-being, and reflect the values of an informed and engaged society. Conclusion: By signing this petition, you join us in urging the UK government to conduct a thorough investigation into the Home Office's handling of cannabis policy. We believe that transparency, fairness, and evidence-based decision-making are essential in shaping policies that impact the lives of millions. This petition aims to gather public support and bring attention to the need for a fair and impartial assessment of cannabis policy in the UK, highlighting the importance of open dialogue and adherence to expert advice, while remaining open to a wide range of concerns.

  • Do Not Ban XL bullys, punish the owners
I think if everyone comes together we can save a dog breed in which there are a lot more of these dogs that live their lives as a happy family pet than there are ones who attack people. We need to pull together and stop dog breeds getting punished just because of bad owners

  • Protect Torquay Pavilion + Emergency Repairs Now!
Torquay Pavilion is a much-loved asset that has been cherished for generations since it opened in 1912. People power prevented its planned demolition by the Council in the 1970s. The Community has fought again for its future since the Pavilion's long-term leaseholder, MDL Marinas, closed it as a shopping centre in 2013. Working hard to take successful legal action against the Council in 2018, the Community defeated a damaging, barely viable and unlawfully-permitted scheme incorporating the building. People power is needed once more to ensure that the building survives.

  • Stop importing invasive species!
Invasive non-native species are one of the biggest threats to biodiversity. Now, one of the world's most invasive species, the Red Imported Fire Ant (Solenopsis invicta) has arrived in Europe and scientists estimate it's only a matter of time before it is devastating native fauna and causing loss and costs to agriculture. The UK remains one of the last island nations to import soils and potted plants containing soils. In doing so, it is importing an increased risk. Asian Hornets, Fire Ants, terrestrial flatworms, slugs and snails are all species found in potted plants and soils. Their small size and ability to bury in to the soil means that they arrive unseen, even if the plant itself is checked. The only conceivable way to ensure species are not being readily imported is to reciprocate action seen elsewhere and ban the imports of soil and plants containing soil.

  • DON’T TAKE FROM PENSIONS TO FUND TAX CUTS
It looks like the Government could take from pensioner’s incomes to fund tax cuts while we’re all facing a cost of living crisis. Even if your income doesn’t come from a pension right now, this could be the beginning of slashing people’s protections to make the rich richer. The Government’s refusal to say they’ll protect people from pension poverty is all over the news, but right now this is just an idea they’re floating to see if they could get away with it. They could change their minds if they realise this could cost them the next election. We need to act now. If thousands of us sign the petition, it will show the Government that if they want to stay in power, they can’t take from us all to give to the rich.

  • Introduce a Railcard for Social Care Workers
Social Care Workers do one of the most difficult and challenging jobs in our society and I believe that introducing this Railcard would not only encourage others to join this demanding but rewarding career, it would also go a long way in acknowledging these workers and showing appreciation for their role.

  • Wheelchair users can’t get taxis
Maybe people are not aware of how few cabs take disabled passengers that are not able to get out of their chairs. There are hardly any. All the cost effectiveness has been removed from local governments certainly in Kidderminster? Bromsgrove and Redditch and probably nationwide.

  • No US nuclear weapons on UK soil
The US Government wants to put their nuclear weapons back on British soil for the first time in 15 years. The plans "strongly imply" the intention to base nuclear arms at Lakenheath in Suffolk, which last hosted them in 2008. The plans have already angered campaigners with many claiming such a move would be irresponsible and put the UK at risk. The good news is, right now the idea is still in the planning phase and nothing is set in stone. But we need to make sure the UK Government listens to us, the British public's view on the matter. Sign the petition if you agree that the public should be consulted on whether the UK should host America's nuclear weapons?

  • Protect British family farms from unfair treatment by supermarkets
The future of British food and farming is at risk, with many small family farms worried that they won’t be in business by the next generation – or even by next year. Is this what we want for our food system, and our countryside? Farmers don’t just feed us; they are also custodians of the land. But they cannot keep going if they are denied commitment and security, and are not making a reasonable profit. We must create a fairer, more sustainable future – one which supports family farms, preserves rural communities, and ensures access to quality British food for generations to come.
