This is a goal that everyone in the community should support, as it will make the area a safer place for everyone, including children, pedestrians, and cyclists. 2. The disabled, people needing public transport to work and the elderly who need regular hospital appointments but don't own a car

We, the parents of children attending Wroughton Academy, need to show solidarity for the immediate reconsideration / update of policy that should already be common sense. Having researched the subject, it appears that schools do, in fact, have the ability to introduce policy to prevent children using the bathroom during lessons. This doesn’t mean that they HAVE to, or that it NEEDS to be a blanket ban. I would challenge the teachers to have some empathy and put themselves in the children’s shoes. How would they feel if someone denied them access to the bathroom if they were caught short? We’ve all been there, at some point or another, and this is as adults who are very used to dealing with bodily functions. Unfortunately the body doesn’t always do precisely as we wish it would, so how can this be demanded of children. I thought that we were passed the dictatorship days of classrooms gone by, but apparently we are not. Under no circumstances am I condoning the abuse, or misuse of this proposed change, but if a child is a “repeat offender” or it is suspected that they are just being disruptive, the matter can be brought up with the parents on an individual basis. The recent change in how the children enter the school in the morning has been touted as a way to give the children more independence / agency over their actions. I propose that this independence/ agency is also extended to unplanned bathroom breaks.

We need to ban the sale and use of the rodenticide Bromethalin, as there are no antidote should it be unfortunately ingested by an unintended animal or even human. Unfortunately, the story doesn't end there with using this type of Rodenticide. Obviously intended to humanely kill rats and mice but it is anything but humanely. The rodents don't always make it back to their nests. Sometimes, they die on the way. Death attracts other animals who then in turn will eat some of the poisoned animal, they now unbeknown are on their death sentence of no fault of their own. Little did my husband know, that our own beloved dog sadly suspected ingested some on her early morning walk at a local park. She became ill directly after. She was rushed to an out-of-hours veterinary surgery. She showed all the symptoms of being poisoned - excessively salivating, seizures, eye twitching, delirious, head swelling and green diarrhea. After suffering multiple seizures all day, our beloved girl died after enduring a cardiac arrest. We were told by the vet, that she didn't have any internal bleeding so it confirms again the suspicions of this type of rodentcide was left on the grass in the park. Unlike anticoagulant rodenticides which cause internal bleeding, should they be accidentally ingested, the patient can be given vitamin k which clots the blood after their stomach being pumped and charcoal being administered by a vet. This park is a well known dog walking park and also, where children play but also the FA have many childrens football tournaments and matches, whereby the children tackle and slide along the grass. I therefore, kindly ask for your help to ban the sale and use of Bromethalin Rodenticide, which is freely being sold on the internet on sites such as Amazon. No antidote no survival, so shouldn't be on sale. Together we can work on getting it banned!

Not everyone can afford private dental care which leaves lots of people vulnerable. I have been at my current practice for about 10years. I have recently been advised that they will no longer be supporting NHS patients, but happy to accept my wife and I on a private basis. As pensioners we are not in a position financially, to be able to afford to pay for private treatment, especially in the current economic climate. So we set about trying to find a practice locally that would support NHS patients,but without success.

Despite the local secondary school, train station and shops being only a mile away, most Ditchling residents feel they have no choice but to drive the short distance to Hassocks because this short stretch of road feels unsafe to walk or cycle along. Some, such as children attending Downlands or sixth form colleges in Brighton, have no choice but to use it. As one Ditchling resident puts it: "My son used to cycle from Ditchling to Downlands but I stopped him after another parent told me they'd seen a car speed right up to his back wheel and stay there all the way down the Keymer straight. It's just too dangerous." Numbers using this road this have increased significantly over the past few years and there has been a recent, devastating fatality as well as many near misses. Action is needed before there are any more. This short stretch of dangerous road also deters people from travelling from London or Brighton by train to visit Ditchling, reducing possible revenues for its local museum, pubs and cafes, as well as public access to the National Park. This petition has been created by Ditchling Climate Action Network, a new group set up to tackle local climate and environmental issues, brought together over our concern for our, and our children's future. We believe coming together as a community is the best way we can engage local decision makers, demand action and bring about positive change. Sign the petition to help us compel ESCC to make this short stretch of dangerous road safer for cyclists and pedestrians.

The problems with the current PMQs format are numerous and concerning: Political Point Scoring: PMQs have devolved into a platform for political point scoring, where the primary objective seems to be creating sensational sound bites for media consumption. This practice undermines the seriousness of the issues being discussed and hinders meaningful debate. Lack of Truthful Answers: It has become a common perception that questions posed during PMQs rarely receive truthful or substantial answers. This evasion of accountability erodes the trust that citizens should have in their elected representatives. Name Calling and Slurs: PMQs often descend into a shouting match filled with personal attacks and derogatory language. This behavior is not conducive to constructive political discourse and sets a poor example for the public. Shouty Shambles: The chaotic and confrontational nature of PMQs does little to serve the interests of informed and responsible governance. Instead, it frequently devolves into a "shouty shambles" that only serves to whip up political party followers. In these serious times, it is crucial that we have mechanisms in place to hold our elected representatives accountable and ensure that they operate in a mature and responsible manner. We believe that the current PMQs format falls short of meeting these objectives and propose the following solutions: Transformation: Reform PMQs to make them a genuine question and answer session. This could involve stricter rules regarding the conduct of participants and a commitment to providing substantive answers to questions posed. Termination: If PMQs cannot be reformed to serve their intended purpose, we request that they be discontinued. This would free up valuable time in Parliament for more productive discussions and deliberations. We believe that these changes are necessary to strengthen our democracy and enhance the accountability of our elected officials. We urge you to consider the sentiments of concerned citizens and take action to address these issues. The UK is in an economic and cultural crisis. Our elected agents should make all use of their time to resolve issues, not strategising clever put downs to the opposition. Political horseplay is all well and good when things are going well. Now is not one of those times.

By September 2025, most working families with children under the age of 5 will be entitled to 30 hours of childcare support from the Government, which is vital support when the average nursery place is an unaffordable £14,000 per year.  But thousands of children are locked out of most of this support right now - forcing parents to give up work, denying children vital opportunities to develop and pushing families into poverty - all because of their parents’ immigration status. Even if children are British citizens, they are still locked out - it’s completely unfair. This Government are stopping parents from standing on their own two feet by depriving them of access to vital services, leaving families struggling even more during the cost-of-living crisis. Every child, no matter their race, class or immigration status, has the right to a fair start in life. Yasmin’s story -  Yasmin’s first-born son didn’t get the chance to go to nursery because of nothing more than the fine print on her visa. The Government’s exclusionary rules locked Yasmin and her son out of this support. However, her daughter did get the chance because by the time she was old enough, Yasmin could benefit from government support with the costs.  The impacts on her son have been long-lasting. His teachers have told Yasmin how he struggles more to make friends and interact with his peers than her daughter because he was robbed of this vital early years support. No child should be deprived of opportunities that are so important to their start in life, and no family should be forced into poverty because of government action.

Lots of buildings in the 1960’s were built using RAAC concrete, commonly referred to as “crumbling concrete”. It has also been nicknamed Aero Bar, after the chocolate bar that contains pockets of air. Experts say its lifespan is only around 30 to 40 years. Buildings should have been repaired or replaced, but a succession of Prime Ministers have passed the buck or refused to fix the problem. More than a 100 schools have been forced to shut because of safety concerns. And it could get worse with fears that as more of this weak concrete is discovered it could lead to closures of courts, police stations and even hospitals. Rishi Sunak says he’s not to blame and the Government is failing to grasp the magnitude of the problem of unsafe concrete in the UK’s public buildings. The Government to stop passing the buck and get to work and solve the concrete crisis.

Cafe Joseph has become the heart of the local community. For parents of children at the school next door, Cafe Joseph is a place to meet and support each other. For the adults with disabilities living in the home around the corner, Cafe Joseph is one of the few places where they can go out and feel welcome and accepted. For people who are struggling with challenges in their life including mental health struggles, unemployment and bereavement, Cafe Joseph is somewhere they can find love and support. For the church members who come in after mass, Cafe Joseph a chance to socialise and meet new people. We have shared our stories and craft projects, and enjoyed discussions about our faith. Cafe Joseph offered a warm space and a hot meal for people struggling with the cost of living crisis through the winter. The staff have provided training and work experience for young people, enabling them to pursue careers in hospitality industry. The Kidzone mornings have provided fun and games for children during the holidays, allowing them to play safely with their friends and enjoy a warm meal. At Cafe Joseph, we have shared the good times and the bad, and wonderful coffee and cakes. The customers and staff have become our family, and it is a vital part of the community and our lives. Cafe Joseph really is “No Ordinary Church Cafe”!

Many people in Cannich have fond memories of swimming in the river, hopping across the rocks and walking cherished pets that stretch back to their childhood. The current assault on access means that they will stay as memories, with no prospect of handing our heritage on to the next generation, for the benefit of the privileged few.
