  • Stop the badger cull in: Somerset
Badgers are lush! Surely we should protect them not kill them. We humans have jeopardised their natural habitat and wild lives quite enough already! There has been no scientific evidence to show that killing badgers is an effective way to reduce TB in cattle. Culling badgers is a cruel, expensive and ineffective policy which should be stopped. Let's get a campaign going in our area - perhaps we could team up with Secret World Wildlife Rescue in Highbridge? Somerset Wildlife? RSPCA? Let me know if you wanna b badgered with this campaign..... Cheers,Jo

There has been no scientific evidence to show that killing badgers is an effective way to reduce TB in cattle. Culling badgers is a, cruel, expensive and ineffective policy which needs to be stopped. There are studies that are working with vaccines to inoculate Badgers against TB and which should be given time. When we are hoping that developing countries will prioritise biodiversity over economic growth it is hypocritical to be killing our own wildlife.

  • Expand Balcarras School to Meet Local Demand
We the undersigned consider the ‘Leckhampton Corridor’ senior school place issue to be a serious and growing problem for the families and community affected. We note that many Leckhampton children are losing out on places at their two nearest senior schools Balcarras and Bournside. This disadvantages children who have to take extremely long journeys to and from schools further away. We further note that Balcarras have objected to Bournside’s proposals to revise their catchment to tackle this problem.

  • Bring the Brighton Wheel to Ramsgate
Margate has The Turner Centre and Dreamland to attract visitors. We have our beautiful Royal Harbour, Tunnels and wonderful cafe culture but we need more reasons for families to visit. Thanet as a whole would benefit from the added tourism as we would be able to offer a better package, more reasons to visit. The wheel would not incur huge capital investment, ongoing leasing fees would be paid for out of revenue, therefore no risk to the council.
