• A Labour Minister for Animal Protection.
This is incredibly important, the level of animal cruelty has become unbearable, these animals have no voice and nobody to represent them politically in the world of law making. In 2016 how can we say that we live in a civilized society with the amount of animal abuse, when vegans and veggies are openly laughed at as being loonies just because they respect the animal kingdom and an animals right to life, the animals desperately need a voice and we want that voice to be the labour party.

  • Shut down Newcastle University Animal Lab
Vivisection is ineffective and archaic. Animals do not share our DNA, there is nothing that we can learn from animals that is relevant to the human body. As such we ask that Newcastle University moves on to modern forms of research such as computer modelling, micro- dosing and organ on a chip which are vastly more accurate than the outdated cruelty that they currently use. It is time to stop placing profit over results. This cruelty must end, for the sake of the animals. Sentient beings have the right to live a life free from suffering and torture. These tests are not conducted for results, they are conducted for profit. Modern testing is far more reliable and applicable to the human body. We the undersigned wish for advancement in treatments and medication which does not happen when using animals.

  • Lothian Buses to continue to accept Adult City Single Tickets
Services working with vulnerable people hand out single bus tickets to enable people to get to health appointments and to meet with other vital services. The decision to stop accepting Adult City Single Tickets restricts the ability for services to offer such provision. Users of food banks have been particularly impacted by the decision. Foodbanks use these single tickets to issue to clients who have walked quite a distance to receive 12-25kgs of food to carry home. When previous client stated ‘When I accessed a foodbank in the intervening time between losing my house and going to a homeless hostel I went to the foodbank on Madeira Street and they gave me a bus ticket to get back to Lothian Road, which was as you can imagine a massive help!’. Alternative ticketing systems that Lothian Buses could consider are listed below: • Adult City Single Scratchcards are less likely to be counterfeited. • Using two prepaid child tickets to allow an adult to board a bus (no plans as yet to cease the sale of books of child singles) • Single journey citysmart cards with only one journey loaded on them • Day saver scratch cards solds to charities for £1.60 each • Annual donations of scratch cards to charities that are existing customers of Lothian Buses as part of LB’s corporate social responsibility

  • One pence Scottish Tax Rise to Prevent Savage Cuts to Services
The tax rise would mean better off people would pay significantly more than those on lower and middle wage levels. Those on £150,000 would pay an extra £1,500 per year, those on £30,000 around £140 a year. And it would raise almost £500m to invest in services currently being cut to the bone or abolished

  • Safety for Pedestrian Crossing - Prevention is better than Death!
At present drivers go through the pelican crossing when it's turning red, and also when it is red. This crossing is used by many school pupils including those at Queens Park Community School, Capital Academy and Malorees Junior School. It is only a matter of time before a child gets killed by a driver. Brent Council needs to put a red light trigger camera and warning sign at the pelican crossing before a death not after one. Prevention is better than Death!

  • Save Calcot Children's Centre
This centre is absolutely vital for babies and parents. Life as a new parent can be challenging and, at times, isolating. This centre is crucial for meeting other parents and getting the support needed for your baby, whether that be for weighing, feeding or any other concerns. Without it many people would have to travel to Burghfield, which is very difficult for many people in the area.

  • day of protest in Support of Doctors.
The Health Secretary, Jeremy Hunt has draconically imposed a new Contract on Junior Doctors. This is a dangerous moment for the NHS, for the Doctors and the BMA. They need to know that we support them in their fight against this tyranny. The TUC can act as a focus for this peaceful protest. We want one day of solidarity and support. Let us show Mr Hunt that the Nation stands with our Doctors and our NHS.

  • Unfair car parking charge increase in Herefordshire
Herefordshire Councils Cabinet signed off last December/November a raise in the car park charges which came into effect on the 1st of February. As a example Herefords Merton Meadow car park before the increase was £3 all day as of the 1st of Feb this went up to £5 this is a raise of 66%!! Whilst in leominster the car park in Broad street went from £1 to £2.50 which represents a 150% increase!! Further information on car parking price changes can be found at https://www.herefordshire.gov.uk/media/3921502/car_park_notice_of_variation_of_charges_feb_2016.pdf This is unfair because this now means that people that work in Hereford will now have to work for 3/4 of an hour just to park their car. I also believe that with more and more chain stores moving in Hereford the increased car parking charges will impact on local residents, tourism and business people not coming at staying in Herefordshire. Many local small independent shops haven't got e commerce websites and therefore people can't buy their products/services online. This in turn is playing into the hands of major business and taking money away from local business. The other day a work colleague was paying for parking in Herefords Merton Meadow car park. The lady in front of here was from Cardiff for the day she said "£5 for parking, thats the last time that I come to Hereford." Their argument that this was done to try and get the public to use more public transport is floored when in their last budget they reduced the bus services that they subsidise therefore meaning that less services are now running. Also how many councillors do you see actively using and promoting public transport?? If you agree with any of the points that I raise please please sign my petition against Herefordshire Councils Cabinet and maybe Cllr Rone will take note and review the parking charges decision that has been made. Thank you for your time.

  • SUPPORT THE NHS REINSTATEMENT BILL TO BRING BACK OUR NHS
KEEP BACKING THE BILL! KEEP SIGNING THE PETITION! KEEP WRITING TO YOUR MP! ** UPDATE 15/03/2017** The postponed 2nd Reading of the NHS Bill is scheduled for 24th March 2017. It is so far down the list that it is unlikely to be debated. The NHS deserves more than this. Please email/tweet/facebook your MP asking them to support the NHS Bill. We are in this campaign for the long haul.** ** UPDATE 31/10/2016** The NHS Bill has been published in full on the parliament site. We need MPs to support it on 4th November in the House of Commons. Keep our NHS Public are organising a rally of support outside parliament from 11am-1pm - all welcome. It is unlikely the Bill will proceed further on this day, but the campaign - and the pressure on MPs - will continue. **UPDATE 30/7/2016** On 13th July 2016, the NHS Reinstatement Bill was successfully presented in the House of Commons, by Margaret Greenwood, Labour MP for Wirral West. Although opposed by Philip Davies, Conservative MP for Shipley, he did not call for a vote and so it was introduced by acclamation. The debate was well attended by Labour MPs, including Jeremy Corbyn. We think it’s positive the Bill wasn’t voted down, was presented by a Labour MP and has the support of the Labour front bench. But it needs to be published in full before its second reading on 4th November 2016, so we'll be keeping a close watch. **UPDATE 12/3/2016** We have been amazed at the number of people who have signed this petition, even since the debate closed. Fantastic. Please don't be put off signing as every signature helps to show and build support for the Bill.** **UPDATE 11/3/2016**The petition was formally handed over on 11 March 2016, on the day the Bill was discussed in Parliament. The Bill was filibustered by Conservative MPs who spent 4.5 hours talking about their Bill, so only 17 minutes was left for the NHS Bill. However, there is a huge groundswell of support for the NHS Bill, and we will be looking at ways to reintroduce the NHS Bill to Parliament. But we need to build more support from MPs, especially those in the Labour party. So PLEASE do write to your MP asking them to back it. The campaign continues.** The NHS in England is being dismantled. NHS services - including acute and emergency, children’s, elderly and maternity care - have been deliberately underfunded since 2010. The comprehensive care we’ve come to expect continues to be cut back. Many services have been handed to private companies such as Virgin, Serco and US giant United Health, hiding behind the NHS logo. Valuable NHS buildings and land are being sold off to property developers, often as a result of the exorbitant costs of paying for new hospitals built under the Private Finance Initiative (PFI). These are our services and our assets. We the public own them. And polls repeatedly show that most of us want to keep our NHS. Privatised services cost the NHS and tax payer far more than when provided by our publicly owned and publicly run NHS. That is because public health systems don’t seek profits. They don’t need to pay dividends to shareholders. They don’t have the added costs of private sector loans. And they don't have to pay the management fees that private companies charge. A public NHS also doesn't have privatisation’s heavy marketing and contract administration costs of extra lawyers, accountants and management - at least £4.5 billion annually on one estimate and rising. Just cutting them, not NHS services, would go a long way to cover the shortfall between government underfunding and the NHS' needs over the next 5 years. These huge commercial costs and the chaos caused by the ongoing NHS fragmentation are the direct result of privatisation. This is endangering the quality and safety of our public healthcare. Privatisation isn’t just bad for the tax-payer. It's bad for our health. The Bill was presented to Parliament in July 2015 by Caroline Lucas MP with the cross-party support of 77 MPs. It is backed by the Green Party and the SNP, as well as by Jeremy Corbyn, John McDonnell and other Labour MPs, one Plaid Cymru and one Liberal Democrat MP. Please sign the Petition to show MPs that we, the public, want them to reinstate the NHS as a public service. It is their responsibility to do so. And please write to your MP - whatever party she/he belongs to - stating your wish and urging him/her to back the Bill to bring back our NHS in England. You can find out who your MP is, how to write your letter and get more information on the NHS Reinstatement Bill Group’s website: http://www.nhsbill2015.org/ And join in the conversation on Twitter: @nhsbillnow and #NHSBillNow. Launched on 11th February 2016 this Petition originates from the NHS Reinstatement Bill Group, which includes the Bill’s co-authors Professor Allyson Pollock and lawyer Peter Roderick. Backing for the Bill continues to come from NHS personnel across the spectrum, from paramedics, nurses and Junior Doctors to senior consultants and managers. Over 300, including well-known names (Alan Bennett, Keira Knightley, Melvyn Bragg, Damian Lewis, Helena Kennedy, Stephen Frears, Alexei Sayle, Darcey Bussell) signed a letter of support published in The Guardian on 4th March 2016: http://www.theguardian.com/society/2016/mar/04/why-we-support-the-cross-party-nhs-bill

  • GOVERNMENT WANT TO CLOSE 1 IN 4 PHARMACIES IN THE NEXT 12 MONTHS
I have been in business as a pharmacist for more than 20 years , owning 2 pharmacies and this is the first time I feel threatened by the governmants proposal to cut my income by 6% equivalant to £25, 000 per pharmacy . As a result I will end up closing one of my pharmacies and running my other pharmacy on pigeon staff . Therefore , there will be a reduction in services ,eg deliveries to the housebound, compliance packs to the disabled , no smoking cessation clinics , no free blood pressure checks and inhaler technique checks. The governmant want the majority of prescriptions dispensed in big warehouses or internet pharmacies with no patient interaction !
