• Don't sell off Channel 4
A privatised Channel 4 wouldn't be the same. Its focus on innovation would disappear as shareholder profits become the only priority. It would cut its work with hundreds of independent producers. We don't need another Channel 5, ITV or Sky News. Some of us enjoy Channel 4 News with Jon Snow. Some of us enjoy Countdown. Some of us enjoy Made in Chelsea. All of us want Channel 4 to stay OURS. Channel 4 is like no other broadcaster. It's a national treasure with a duty to make innovative programmes and reflect the diversity of British society. Keep it that way. "The notion that a privatised Channel 4 would continue to invest significant sums in news and current affairs or make equity investments in British feature films, or try out more programme ideas each year than any other channel, is utterly illusory." David Puttnam, film producer “I can imagine getting a call in the middle of the night from a shareholder sharing their view about something we were going to air that was going to have a lot of impact...The nature of that coverage would subtly change over time. And the fierce independence of our journalism, I can’t help but think, would alter over time.” David Abrahams, Chief Executive of Channel 4 Read more about Channel 4 on the We Own It website http://weownit.org.uk/evidence/channel-4

  • Better Funding for Westcroft Health Centre
Our area is expanding rapidly and we have a high proportion of young families who need better access to GP services. It is almost impossible to get an on-the-day appointment to see the doctor and some patients are waiting up to 4 weeks to see a doctor about non-urgent problems.

  • BRISTOL CITY COUNCIL - TENANTS NEED THESE HOMES!
Bristol is in the middle of a housing crisis affecting thousands across the city and made worse by the unaffordable rents and insecurity of renting privately. Shortage of Council Housing and Housing Association properties leaves the Private Rental Sector at breaking point. Lack of supply drives down standards as we tenants are forced into paying eye-watering rents for damp and mould-ridden houses with only a couple of months security. In these circumstances, privately-owned empty buildings are a dangerous and unacceptable limit on the pool of available housing. Where properties have stood empty for 2 years or more the Council can turn them into much-needed homes. Empty Dwelling Management Orders provide Local Authorities with powers of ‘Compulsory Leasing’. They can take possession, renovate and rent properties to recover costs. After that the building is returned to the owner with a paying tenant. These powers are currently a last resort. It should be made clear that the use of EDMOs will be taken up if all other reasonable efforts come to nothing. • Dual The A90 North Of Ellon To Fraserburgh Via Peterhead
The variety of vehicles travelling on these routes are causing to many accidents as well as extremely slow travelling times. I have never known a route take as long or have as many accidents as this section. Because of the wide variety of vehicles, vehicles are having to overtake to avoid tailbacks and congestion. There have been many meetings, newspaper articles etc. I think it's about time this went 'National' so people can see the situation of a road in 2015 in Scotland

  • LIFT THE SENTENCE TO STONE A SRI LANKAN WOMAN TO DEATH FOR ADULTERY
No one should be put through an ordeal like this - especially someone with children waiting for her back home. I honestly could not believe this headline when scrolling through my facebook news feed. I once read a short story called The Lottery by Shirley Jackson in which a woman is stoned to death because she is unlucky enough to draw the unlucky ticket in the local 'lotery'. That was fantasy. This is reality; and the two should never be mixed. Please help prevent this barbaric act before it's too late. Surely we've had enough of death and murder?

  • The Sun should be accountable for promoting race hatred.
Because the Sun routinely headlines lies & mis-information that promotes race hatred & misunderstanding in the UK. The front page headline used on 23/11/2015 for instance may be mathematically correct but and its a big but, this depends what question was asked of the people they polled. The question is at best skewed. It's a general question and not specific. The question asked was "How do you feel about young Muslims who leave the UK to join fighters in Syria?" It didn't ask for instance which side these young people would be fighting on or if they would be jihadists. The Sun helpfully misguide their readers by adding a photograph of so called "Jihadi John". You can make your own complaint here too: https://www.ipso.co.uk/oxbxApps/app/complaint1.html

  • Invest Gloucestershire County Council's Pension Fund in Renewables
The development and use of renewable energy sources is required to protect the future of all who live and work in Gloucestershire from Climate Change. The current strategy of the Pension Fund administered by Gloucestershire County Council Pension Comittee to invest many many £millions in large fossil fuel companies is compromising the future of those of us who live in Gloucestershire and those who contribute to or are receiving GCC pensions.

  • Support The Food Waste & Food Poverty Motion
It is estimated that supermarkets waste around 180,000 tonnes of food each year, with far higher waste in the supply chain caused by their unnecessary cosmetic standard policies, which contribute towards waste of around 3 million tonnes in the supply chain. In Norwich there are over 7,000 children living in poverty, with the effects of childhood malnutrition lasting a lifetime at a significant cost to the taxpayer, with increased spending on social services, criminal justice, healthcare and extra educational support arising from an upbringing below the breadline. The need to redistribute unsold food to those who can’t afford to feed themselves has become so urgent that a number of organisations have recently joined together to form Norwich Food Hub – which aims to collect food from supermarkets, bring it to a central city-centre location for sorting, and redistribute it to community groups helping those in food poverty. Since forming we’ve been in contact with over 15 organisations interested in receiving food, including 6 breakfast and after-school clubs for young children. By supplying to these groups alone we could be feeding over 250 people each day. Using food waste to feed the hungry is not a solution to food poverty. That should be addressed through fair and sustainable welfare policies. However whilst both food waste and food poverty co-exist we need to organise so that this food can be used to help people in need. Support from the Council would go a long way to achieving our aims and reducing food poverty in our city.

  • Protect sport: Widen the protected list
English/British sport is being destroyed by such as Sky. Witness the lack of home players in the Premier league. That has to be stopped. Kids are growing up with an attitude that Sport only matters for the money. It is far more important than that.
