• Save The Cosy Coffee Corner!
Mel and the team at The Cosy Coffee Corner have become an important and much loved part of the Bank community and are one of the few remaining independent coffee shops left in the City. Closure will not only mean that Mel will lose her life savings invested in the business but that her team will also lose their jobs. This doesn't need to happen.

  • Save Ribbon Court Coventry
I believe public pressure could make a change. The people involved in the main struggle to speak for themselves. And could end up living in a totally inappropriate environment, their community will be split up.

  • Sunak changes laws for developers not paying against phosphate pollution
It's important to stop it now by ensuring developers face their responsibilities. We are trying to help with the environment and the future of our planet, which starts at our home environments. Making an open statement of abusing the safety of our rivers etc is extremely alarming.

  • The NHS should provide free dental repairs to teeth damaged by seizures
A staggering 58 per cent of people with epilepsy who responded to our recent survey have faced dental repair costs they could not afford. And over two-thirds have broken or chipped their teeth as a result of a seizure. This startling data, gathered as part of a survey we conducted in March and April 2023, lays bare the challenges facing people with epilepsy who often suffer severe damage to their teeth as a result of their medical condition. That is why the Epilepsy Society has launched FixIt4Free, our campaign calling for free dental repairs for people who have damaged teeth during a seizure.

  • Stop property developers polluting our rivers!
Michael Gove wants to let developers increase pollution and harm rivers. Right now, planning authorities can only approve developments they’re sure will not damage protected habitats - but if the Housing Secretary gets his way, that rule will be scrapped. The papers are saying that the Government will try and amend the levelling up and regeneration bill. The Bill is currently in the House of Lords, and the Government needs to get support for it soon if they want Michael Gove’s plans to succeed. With our dirty rivers all over the news, will the House of Lords want to support more poo-llution in our water? We need to show the House of Lords that we will not stand for the Government’s plans to put our natural habitats at risk instead of saving them.

  • Butlins requires a Changing Places (not in the swimming changing rooms)
A lot of people take going to the toilet and keeping their dignity for granted. Imagine being a parent of a 10 year old disabled child who needs more space than a baby changing table due to child’s weight and height, and your only option is to go through wet changing rooms and hope that the accessible changing room is free so that your child can be changed in comfort and keep their dignity. You also can only use these facilities 9-5 daily, the rest of the time, you’ve got to go back to your apartment, upto 0.7 miles. Would you be happy being in an entertainment venue and having to walk 0.7 miles to use the toilet?

  • Save the Pavilion Youth and Community Cafe!
Please support our campaign and send a strong message to KCC! We need KCC to continue funding its share of this vital facility! The facility receives other grants but KCC's funding is crucial. Contact our Kent County Councillors and tell them how strongly we feel about this situation. Without adequate funding, much of the good work done at the Pavilion will stop. Email [email protected] and [email protected]. Also include our MP, Craig Mackinlay on craig.mackinlay.mp@ parliament.uk

  • Traffic lights at junctions
This will make them safer and prevent frustration, risk-taking and accidents. At present you can only turn right when the lights change briefly to amber. This is particularly dangerous when the car facing you is also trying to turn right. If it’s a double decker bus, you can’t see what is driving up the inside lane so is even more dangerous. There are plenty of turn-right filters in other parts of town so why not Leith?

  • MP's, Voting Records, and their use of social media
This is about improving your political representative's honesty, and strengthening representation for you in your area. One MP I know of represents a seaside constituency and regularly posts photos of themselves eating an Ice cream, having fish and chips, and walking on the beach, with comments about how much they love the area. The coast and tourism is vital to the constituency they represent however it is regularly dogged by sewage discharges after heavy rain that make the sea contaminated and unsafe for recreational use. In 2021 the same MP was given an opportunity to vote to reduce sewage discharges to the sea, however they voted against an opposition amendment to the Environment Bill to do so, even though other MP's rebelled on the issue and voted for the amendment. None of their social media following would have any idea that this is what happened. This is just one example to illustrate the issue, and I'm sure this will happen up and down the country.

  • Buxton Library
People need the library for books, computers, maps and DVDs. Many other services could be provided. At present it is a long walk to the library for those who live north of the town centre.
