• Remove Craig Whittaker as chair of APPG for looked-after children
Craig Whittaker MP has shown an appalling lack of judgement and caused great distress to survivors of sexual abuse by sharing a sick joke about Jimmy Savile on Twitter on 5th May 2015. He tweeted: Trust Labour? I'd rather trust Jimmy Savile to babysit! with a link to a Richard Littlejohn piece in the Daily Mail, from which the quote was taken. Many people and organisations have condemned this in the national press and on Twitter, including lawyers representing many of Savile’s victims. He has repeatedly been asked to apologise but to date Whittaker has neither deleted the tweet nor apologised. Whittaker’s role as chair of the all-party group for looked-after children is not tenable – he has shown complete contempt for the many care leavers who have experienced abuse (and bearing in mind that many of Savile’s victims were in care). We call on the two vice-chairs of the APPG to ask Whittaker to step aside or remove him if he refuses to resign.

  • we want a new electoral vote that is more secure.
It is obviously important that the Prime Minister that is voted for gets to no 10. We vote and rely on a electronic counting process that makes it easy to cheat .like everything electronic it can be programmed to give any output you desire. We need all counting stations to have more than one independent person counting each vote all along the whole process we need to go back to the old way of counting to ensure the correct person gets to number 10.

  • Homeless Rights Of Justice
Because Saint Peters square is again the site of protesters demanding justice and a fairer society. On the 16th of August 1819 it was the people of Lancashire demonstrating for parliamentary reform that were massacred at Peterloo. This time it is the homeless people of Greater Manchester that are upholding the fine tradition of radical protest in Manchester. They have set up camp near to the central library entrance and are demanding better treatment for homeless people across Greater Manchester. Because the number of homeless people is growing across the UK due to the austerity measures being pursued by our government. Because these people deserve a home. This is a heroic David vs Goliath struggle, and we should make sure David wins!

  • Campaign to save the Camp public house St Albans
The Camp is the epitome of your friendly local pub and has been serving the city of St Albans for over 100 years. With locally brewed real ales, and great value pub food – our local pub is at the heart of the community. The pub is also the social hub of the area, providing local entertainment including regular quiz and karaoke nights, evening events to raise money for local charities and hosting live televised sporting events. Despite being the centre of the community, soon locals in St Albans will be left without their local pub. The pub is due to close on 15th May and we desperately need your help to save it. The closure of the Camp public house demonstrates how vulnerable communities are to speculative and aggressive development tactics. An application to register the Camp as an Asset of Community Value has now been submitted to St Albans City Council. With the closure of the Camp imminent, we need you to help us urge the Council to accept the application to list the pub immediately. This will ensure planning permission is required for the pub to be demolished or converted to any other use. The listing also gives the community an opportunity to potentially come together to form a co-operative group to buy and run our local pub. Please sign this petition and urge the City Council to accept the nomination to ensure the pub continues to be part of our local community.

  • School Buses for the children of Milton
It is not a safe walking distance for the children. The children have to walk through rival areas which could/would lead to gang fights. There are very busy roads if the children had to walk.

  • Force Supermarkets to use re-cyclable packaging for all foodstuffs
The amount of food sold in Supermarkets is astronomical and the packaging is still around 40% non re-cyclable. This is hugely damaging to the environment.Sorting through my waste is so dis-heartening when I keep having to put this packaging into the landfill bag.

  • Todmorden High School
The school has been promised money from both the council and the government again and again and they have still received nothing. Schools in Halifax have great facilities and yet Tod High is consistently ignored. The school has recently received 'Good' from Ofsted and has moved from being in the bottom 5% to the top third of schools in the country in just two years. This year the school is being asked to make £150,000 of cuts - How is this possible?

  • Green Party: Join Forces with Independents to Get Job-Sharing MPs
As some of you may be aware, the Green Party tried to stand two candidates in Basingstoke (Sarah Cope and Clare Phipps), and the Electoral Commission rejected their application. Four independent people (Rachel Ling, Emma Rome, Zion Zakari, and Adam Lotun) attempted to do the same in two other constituencies. We had been in talks with the GP leadership about working together, but have now received an email from the GP's legal advisor telling us that they have zero interest in cooperating to present the legal case. I don't think that is right. I believe the Green Party should work with independent campaigners to get job-sharing as an option for how candidates should be able to stand. (n.b., I am referring to job-sharing, where two people are both committed to a single job, sometimes also known as flexible working. I am not referring to the second-jobbing that happens among many MPs currently, or the part-time antics of Boris Johnson).
