Keep the UK in the ECHRThe political conversation being had at the moment is skewed towards reducing, removing or abandoning key components of our Human Rights legislation and we disapprove of this. It was a Conservative Party pledge to replace the UK Human Rights Act (1998) with a British Bill of Rights. The reasoning behind it was to reclaim sovereignty for the nation-state with regards to Human Rights. In doing so, all those concerned have shown a fundamental lack of knowledge about how the EU, the ECHR, and the British legal system, interface with one another. Not only do we think the British Human Rights Act does a good job at protecting the British people's fundamental rights and liberties, we think the further guarantee of a European level is useful to ensure that human rights are respected and developed. To not be part of the ECHR would be to be in the same boat as Belarus, Europe's last formal dictatorship. Britain is greater than that.1,261 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Christopher Powers

RE-INSTATE CALLINGTON ROAD MENTAL HEALTH HOSPITAL BUSAlthough sited within a major city Callington Road Hospital is not served by any public transport system. All other Bristol hospitals run a hospital bus system even though they have access to public transport. Many staff, service users and visitors rely on the hospital bus to connect to other transport systems.189 of 200 SignaturesCreated by wiltshire and avon health branch unison

Make supermarkets hand over all unsold food to charities and offer a delivery service to the needy.A group of French MPs has tabled a draft law to make it compulsory for supermarkets to hand over all unsold food still fit for consumption to charity. Many supermarket chains in France already donate unsold produce to charities, but 63 MPs from across the political spectrum would like to see the practice enshrined in law. Late in July, they tabled a draft bill making it compulsory for supermarkets with 1,000 square metres (10,800 sq ft) of floor space to give their “unsold but still consumable food products to at least one food charity”. Belgium became the first European country to introduce a similar a law in May. Given that the UK is facing an ever-more worrying reliance on food banks, shouldn’t we be thinking along these lines too? Under the next 5 years of Conservative government, people will be encouraged to live an ever-more healthy life-style to reduce the pressure on the NHS. What better way to do this than to ensure the most needy have access to fresh fruit and vegetables and other basic essentials they currently can only class as a luxury if on benefits or a very low income? I propose an even more logical solution: Those of us who are lucky enough to be able to afford wonderful groceries delivered to our doorstep could donate an extra £2 per purchase to ensure that fresh fruit and veg and other essential groceries are delivered to someone in need en route to our homes. You might be utterly surprised, David Cameron, just how many of us would be willing to sign up to such a scheme, thus ensuring the sick, disabled and elderly have a much-needed helping hand. Please consider this idea very seriously as it is based upon pure logic and the sharing of resources that are currently simply wasted.190,387 of 200,000 SignaturesCreated by Lizzie Swarf

Chris Skidmore - Vote to keep the ban on fox huntingHunting wild mammals with a pack of dogs causes unnecessary stress. There is no reason why, in this day and age, such outdated methods should be used to hunt any animal. Foxes in particular are iconic as part of the British natural fauna and are relatively peaceful animals. There are better methods and measures that can be used to stop foxes from damaging livestock and farmland than the way proposed by pro-hunt campaigners. The act of chasing a fox with a pack of dogs is barbaric and has no place in our society. Voting to repeal the hunting act would also be an affront to democracy. Polls from YouGov, Ipsos Mori and The Mirror show that the majority of the public want to keep the hunting ban in place. If there is to be any vote on the repeal of the hunting act, the public should be consulted via a national referendum. If this condition cannot be met, then the ban should remain in place. You can see the poll results below: https://yougov.co.uk/news/2015/01/09/british-people-still-support-fox-hunting-ban/ http://www.theguardian.com/uk/2012/dec/25/britons-fox-hunting-ban-survey https://www.ipsos-mori.com/researchpublications/researcharchive/3315/Hunting-Poll-2013.aspx http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/fox-hunting-back-agenda-says-5665629 We, the people of Kingswood, ask that you, Chris Skidmore, vote to keep the hunting ban over the course of this next parliament.240 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Daniel Johnston

Thomas Cook, decent compensation to the Shepherds.Thomas Cook are morally responsible for the deaths of two children, Bobby and Christi, who died of carbon monoxide poisoning in a hotel room for which Thomas Cook were responsible. The inquest found this week that their deaths were unlawful although criminal prosecutions in this country are unlikely. The senior managers from Thomas Cook refused to answer questions in court, their legal right but to their absolute moral shame. Thomas Cook received £3.5m compensation following the deaths yet the parents of the two children have received only a fraction of this amount. This case is morally offensive, disdains the principles of natural justice and shows the contempt with which large corporations hold ordinary people.119 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Andrew Moody

Pachamama cafe to trade at Easton Arts TrailThis is important to us: myself, my partner, toddler and little one due in August, as we are a small family business and the decision to not allow us to be involved in this and other recent events, directly effects the viability of our business - our livelihood. We have demonstrated our commitment to the community and the centre, by operating our cafe at the centre over the past 2 years. In order for us to continue trading, in what is a difficult financial time for many us, we need to be able to trade at events, especially key ones in our local calendar, as without these opportunities, our future is under threat. We feel passionately about our community and privileged to be able to be involved and run our cafe business in the heart of our community, our home. We have received positive support from the local and wider community, with so many positive comments about our food and friendliness. We source as many of our products locally with a focus on fair-trade and organic where possible. We provide our food at affordable prices, so that we can offer something for all members of our community. We have shown our continued commitment to those that use our cafe but also all users of the Easton Community Centre and care about the connections and interactions that we have with all of those who we encounter. If we are excluded from certain key events then this will be the end of our business, so please sign our petition so that those who have the power to do so will enable us to continue trading by allowing us to be involved in weekend events too as was agreed in our initial interview when we first took on the tenancy and as we have continued to request. We had lots of positive feedback at the last Easton Arts Trail from traders, performers and the public at large. Please show your support so that those who have made the decision to offer this opportunity and other such opportunities to outside caterers hear your voice and ours, which will mean they too will hopefully show their support and allow us to open our cafe at this key event as previously agreed. Thank you in advance for sharing your voice in support of our small family business, so that we are able to continue trading. Reclassify children's fancy dress clothes from toys - to meet clothing standardsCurrently fancy dress costumes are classed as toys so are not necessarily fire proofed or fire retardant. The amount of children that are taken to hospital with burns due to fancy dress clothes is increasing. This can be stopped, simply by changing the classification from toys to clothes. Currently fancy dress clothes are CE checked for flammability. But this check is only suitable for toys which burn a lot slower than fancy dress clothes. Fancy dress clothes should be in the same category as the flammability of children's night clothes. After all children WEAR the fancy dress clothes, they do not play with them. "At the moment fancy dress costumes are not necessarily fire proofed or fire retardant. They are classified as toys, not clothes. Toy clothing, identified by the CE mark, is regulated however – including dressing up toys. Also, the flammability of children’s nightwear is regulated. All toys on the UK market are required to comply with the relevant flammability requirements. Toy manufacturers use materials that comply with the strict rules and carry out the necessary tests to demonstrate compliance"57,882 of 75,000 SignaturesCreated by Emma Smith
