Nurseries who have children with additional needs can apply for funding to provide that child with additional support such as a one-to-one. Funding was applied for in advance of the term so the setting secured finances to employ staff as required. However from the summer term 2015 the panel will not be held until much later in the term, this term it will be June. This puts not only a financial burden on the nursery to provide the support necessary but there is a financial risk as it is not guaranteed that funding will be granted or they might not receive the level of funding applied for. Therefore nurseries might decide they can no longer offer places to children with additional needs. My 4 year old son has Downs Syndrome and has one-to-one Support as he is not verbal and communicates with sign. He also has no concept of danger and will run if he senses freedom so to have that allocated adult to supervise him is essential. However his nursery is a charity and doesn't really have the spare funds or profit to employ staff for most of a term and the financial risk of having children with additional needs must be a factor for their future. We have friends who have children with additional needs who had issues with the level of support their child has as the nursery have not been able to secure the full level of funding. If nurseries feel unable to offer places to children with additional needs then they miss out on valuable experiences and friendships with their peers and preparation for transition into school. Children in the nursery miss out on the joy of interacting with diverse abilities and experiences. Parents of children with additional needs miss out on important down time to recharge and get things done. The only benefit is keeping money in the council coffers for a few months. Lord Marlesford's litter bill is still working its way through Parliament, but if it is passed it will allow councils to fine the registered owner of a car for a littering incident. Until that is agreed though, the litter camera approach will only work if you can actually identify an individual, which makes it practically impossible. It will help to reduce the disgusting and very alarming amount of litter that is thrown onto our roads every day.

It's also important to consider the local producers and the need to reduce food miles.

All the maternity and women's health provision of Liverpool was pulled into this one site. It's a much loved hospital. It provides crucial specialised care and the daily joy of new babies. #one born. The driving force for closure is a clumsy funding structure not the needs of women and babies. The alternative of wards in the new Royal is not an equivalent. This is a modern hospital on a good site.Our taxes built it for our babies and for our women.

HFH was one of the first nurseries to open in East/West Molesey. Dozens of children have benefited from the fantastic work and commitment of Emma and her team. They have provided fantastic loving care from the moment they opened nearly four years ago. They have only just found out that Rushmon Homes plan to install one of the anonymous corporate nursery companies in their place in the planned new nursery facilities. They were given no prior notice either by Rushmon or Molesey Football Club. It's madness to close a brilliantly successful local business, that has brought peace of mind to so many families in the Molesey area, and replace it with an alternative that undoubtedly has profits as it's main goal. As of March 20th 2015 GLYPHOSATE, the active ingredient in RoundUp weedkiller, was re-classified as “probably causes CANCER” by the WHO (the World Health Organisation). Most of the community are unaware this weed killer is used in ALL parks and play parks in Falmouth; including Kimberley Park, The Bowling Green Play Park, The Princess Pavillion and The Dracaena Centre. GLYPHOSATE stays active in soil for up to 6 months. This is scientifically proven; Neutralization upon contact is a marketing myth. Children and dogs may still come into direct contact with the chemical (and may ingest it) when playing in areas, which were sprayed weeks or even months previous. The 505 bus service is under threat on the grounds of running at a loss and being underused. Public transport is a public service - financial viability shouldn't be a consideration. Epping Forests' bus services are already few on the ground but are vital for the many residents who don't drive, the elderly, disabled people, students and the low waged/unwaged. We need more services, not fewer. The 505 service is currently operated by Arriva and Network Harlow. Arriva made £373 million profit in 2013. If they are unwilling to continue providing the service Essex County Council needs to find an alternative company to run the route, with subsidies if necessary, or set up a not-for-profit operator to take it over. The Sri Lankan police has a long history of human rights abuses and vicious attacks. Amnesty International’s latest annual report into Sri Lanka alleged that unlawful detentions and torture by security forces were carried out routinely. Since 2007, the Scottish Police College has trained thousands of Sri Lankan officers - including some senior commanders. But training has failed to protect human rights in Sri Lanka. Siobhan Reardon, Amnesty International's programme director in Scotland, said: “Human rights campaigners and family members of people subjected to enforced disappearance were threatened and arrested, and fatal attacks on religious minorities went unpunished.” Also a UN report commissioned by secretary general Ban Ki-Moon found that as many as 40,000 Tamil civilians may have been killed in the last months of the civil war in May 2009, mostly through indiscriminate shelling by Sri Lankan security forces. The police training reform project is funded by the Foreign Office (FCO), was supposed to embed "international standards in police training." But a recent FCO report found instances of torture, deaths in police custody, police abductions and instances of suspects shot and killed as they attempted to flee. The current contract will end on 31 March 2015, but it could be renewed. Police Scotland should not enable human rights abuses in Sri Lanka. However, most cases first develop between the ages of 16 and 30.
