• End the employment agency/umbrella company rip off
Millions of workers across the UK, from construction workers to IT professionals, are being hit hard in their pay packets. The Umbrella companies make the workers pay their NI contributions (employers NI) as well their own (employees NI). On top of this double NI deduction the company also charges the worker for the 'privilege' of receiving their own money. They call this their 'margin' and can cost as much as £30 a week to the employee. https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.ucatt.org.uk/umbrella-company-con-trick&ved=0ahUKEwicvcjBxvDPAhVsAsAKHdbSDFQQFgg9MAA&usg=AFQjCNF0VVD62uWTQceD9W6OE2JAog9C2g&sig2=UAe8y414tNQmyJAwDvFXHQ

  • Specsavers - Stop Advertising in the Daily Express
Anti-immigrant hate crime in the UK has increased fivefold over the past few months (according to the National Police Chiefs' Council). The UK media has, in the words of the United Nations human rights chief, peddled "sustained and unrestrained anti-foreigner abuse" and "vilification, intolerance and politicization of migrants." Migrants are routinely portrayed as less-than-human, and unworthy of dignity and respect. The Daily Express alone is responsible for headlines such as "BRITAIN MUST BAN MIGRANTS" and " SEND IN ARMY TO HALT MIGRANT INVASION." Specsavers: is this your vision? We are calling on you to take a stand, and no longer tacitly endorse the demonisation of migrant communities by the Daily Express. Just earlier this year, the newspaper was forced to publish a correction after press watchdog IPSO ruled that a piece entitled 'Europe's leaders have no plan to cut immigration' inflated and distorted migration figures. The impact of this kind of media rhetoric is not limited to the newspaper stands: it has real-life, divisive consequences. By withdrawing a recent front-page advert from the Daily Express, you have recognised that what your brand appears alongside, matters. We call on you to take this further and withdraw all financial and symbolic support for a newspaper that is notorious for inciting racism, Islamophobia and xenophobia.

  • Product Recycling.
By making the manufacturer take back and dispose of their product this will make them produce a better longer lasting item, this hopefully in turn will produce a lot less waste that goes to landfill. This can easily be achieved and afforded by the company because they just add a little extra to the initial cost of the products when they are new. This will also encourage the manufacturer to make their products to be more durable and sturdy, built from better and longer lasting materials and stopping the ludicrous amount of disposable plastic toys and other rubbish that last about half a second once they are removed from the packaging. While I'm on the subject we could also have food manufacturers make their products from vegetable protein like potato starch and will hopefully eliminate the vast amounts of plastic waste.

  • Stop Shrinking Our Terry's Chocolate Orange!
In the U.K. we rely on these guys to enrich our Christmas Holidays. Failing to produce a thick segmented 175g Terry's Chocolate Orange at Christmas is like... Punch without Judy, Barry without Paul, Ant without Dec, a roast without Yorkshires Christmas is ruined! Furthermore, to be ensure we're not stingy with our TCO's we're now going to have to buy double. So not only are we bereft of Chocolate but now we're out of pocket! Thanks a bunch Terry's!

  • Change presentation of newspaper apologies.
Dishonest or poorly researched jounalism creates a distorted perception of events and people which is unhealthy for the society we live in. A proportionate retraction would go some way to addressing this by making readers more aware of this unfortunate practice.

  • Ban polystyrene use in the UK
I believe we need to ban the use of polystyrene used in packaging in the UK to ensure the health of our people and the planet. Currently, there is a campaign to stop micro beads but this needs to extend to polystyrene. A new report from the National Research Council in the US has upheld the listing of styrene as “reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen” in the National Toxicology Program’s 12th Report on Carcinogens (RoC). There is “convincing relevant information” in mechanistic studies that observed DNA damage in human cells that had been exposed to styrene. Not only is polystyrene toxic to humans, causing cancers, it pollutes the environment much like plastic. I have spent many days on beach cleans and have found these particles littered across the shore break. It breaks down into smaller particles which look like food, confusing fish and mammals, who then digest it. The polystyrene, after being digested by fish then ends up in our food chain. I've seen small children playing with this 'snow', I've seen the stomach lining of fish and birds littered with it. These are the fish that die from it, what of the fish that end up on our table? I call for the use of this substance in all packaging to be banned as a matter of urgency. Take away packaging litters our streets, it is extremely difficult to recycle, often ending up in land-fill and in our seas. There are numerous affordable cardboard, vegetable starch alternatives that break down in an environmentally friendly manner, easily preventing the pollution of our planet and our bodies. Please stand with me to ensure that this small, simple change is implemented by our government making a big difference to all of our lives.

  • Stop waste, feed the hungry
Emergency food bank use is it some of it's highest levels. Trussel Trust remains at record high with over one million three-day emergency supply packages being given to people in 2015/16. This shows more and more people in the UK are going hungry. Currently there are tonnes of produce from supermarkets in the UK being wasted. By major supermarkets following Tesco's example and signing up to schemes that donate this surplus produce to those going hungry it will immensely help the ever-growing problem!

  • Whirlpool - recall your faulty goods.
Millions of Whirlpool tumble dryers across the UK are at risk of catching fire due to a fault, but whirlpool are dragging their feet replacing them. People who are looking to buy a new tumble dryer need to know about the poor after sales from the Whirlpool group of companies. Knowing but ignoring a potential fire hazard is appalling for such a long time. Millions of homes could be at risk from the dangerous tumble dryers. Whirlpool need to recall the faulty goods before it's too late. They say "product safety has always been our chief concern" It's time to prove it!

  • Stop Schwarzkopf Testing Their Products On Animals And Using Animal Products
Schwarzkopf, here's an important message for you. Animals are not ours to abuse or test products on. There are now many alternatives to test your products to make sure they're safe for use and do not pose a danger to consumers. Animals do not need to suffer for your products to pass their safety tests, get onto shelves or into consumers homes. Not only is animal testing unnecessary in the world we live in today, it's completely unethical and unimaginable that any human being could cause that amount of pain to a sentient being for the sake of cosmetics. It's important to rid of animal testing in cosmetic companies because it's unethical and unnecessary. It may also be important to know that in fact your sales could potentially rise. Veganism and activism against animal cruelty is growing every single day. Every vegan and every animal activist is a potential customer for cruelty free companies so this may be something to consider.
