• Stop Murdoch
We believe that this takeover would not be in the public interest and that the plurality of the UK’s media landscape would be seriously diminished if it went ahead. Our media is already dominated by a handful of very powerful organisations that exert huge control over the national conversation.

  • Stop the downgrading of Fair Trade!
The global grass roots Fair Trade movement is under threat and we need to act now to dispel the myth that the Fair Trade global movement is coming to an end. In light of the Fairtrade Foundation's announcement that they are proud to be partnering with Cadbury, to expand their cocoa sourcing program - Cocoa Life - which will include a FAIRTRADE Mark on a product that does not contain FAIRTRADE cocoa. We the undersigned call on the UK and European Fair Trade movement to unite in expressing our grave concern that this is a further watering down of the Fair Trade Principles that underpin the global Fair Trade movement. Gaining access and winning over the big players of the market was never the intention of Fair Trade. We call on ALL the Fair Trade players, in the UK and Europe, to resist the downgrading of Fair Trade by the dominant players, to a market driven charity! We call on all Fair Trade stakeholders, in the UK, including the Fairtrade Foundation, to unite under one banner to form a constituted National Platform, representing the voice of the whole UK movement. A platform that empowers the producer to set the price - a bottom up approach that is based on a social and environmentally responsible economy. A special place where producers set their price and engage in a sustainable mutually rewarding relationship with their customers and which encourages responsible consumers.

  • Stop mobile phone networks charging to connect to the police 101 service
A short while ago I had a nusance neighbour and was asked to provide information to the police by a housing association every time the neighbour caused a disturbance on the 101 service It wasn't until I got my bill that I found out that was charged every time I had called. Ordinarily a one off charge once in a blue moon but on one occasion I had phoned in 7 -8 times a day This soon adds up. Luckily for me it was only for a few weeks. The person was later charged and moved to a different location. And my family was thanked for their help. The crux is that if I called 999 every time I wouldn't have been charged. As yet I do not know if the other networks charge for connecting to the 101 service or even the 111 service

  • Call on UK supermarkets to stop stocking destructive palm oil products
Unsustainable palm oil production is causing irreversible destruction of rain forest habitat for some of our planets most endangered species such as Orangutans, Proboscis monkeys and Cloud leopards as well as causing human misery and threats to health through environmental pollution, land grabs and poor working conditions. Without immediate and direct action from consumers many of these species could be lost from the wild by 2020, sustainable alternatives are available and it is our responsibility to act. I have recently returned from Borneo after a 3 week course studying rainforest ecology and conservation and witnessed first hand the catastrophic scale of the damage being caused by ruthless palm oil companies who show little or no regard to the precious and delicate ecology of the rainforest. To see a mother Orangutan with her young child in the wild is a truly magical experience but also heartbreaking to consider that this may not be possible for future generations to behold, please join me in calling on all food suppliers in the UK to take responsibility for their actions and to raise public awareness on what cost their food really has on the planet.

  • Ivf abuse
The only reason why these procedures are being pushed is to make money from those who trust what they are being told, and desperate enough to believe what they are being told. They are being cheated, and companies have a license to steal and are free to do so..

  • The BBC must provide fair coverage of the protests over the Dakota Access Pipeline
There have been debates about the proposed pipeline to transport oil across America for over 2 years. The route chosen appears to be in breach of several treaties between the Government of America and first nation tribes concerning the preservation of sacred land and burial sites; investigation by the the Army Corps of Engineers, charged with ensuring the safety and sustainability of any use of public lands, has been cursory and incomplete. A small group of First Nation people, with support from across the world, are trying to stop the pipeline, not only because of the threat to sacred land but also because of the threat to drinking water. There is significant evidence that their human rights have been breached and that actions by local law officers have been illegal and disproportionate. Full and fair reporting by the BBC would facilitate a wider debate on the important balance between the demands of corporate monopolies and social and environmental protection.

  • taxing newspaper bosses
National newspapers in the UK set the tone and agenda of the political debate and can influence policies which result in cost to the public purse or cuts to public services. Yet much of the national press is owned by people who avoid the consequences of such policies, either because they are foreign nationals or, by using “non-Dom” status and/or offshore “financial instruments’, to avoid paying the taxes which would give them a stake in the policies their newspapers advocate. In other words they influence policy but do not pay for the consequences - an example of representation without taxation which undermines the concept of public service and accountability."

  • Rip off employment agencies
They have created a system of throw away workers who have no job security and who cannot get access to loans , mortgages or job training. All certificates, licences or training for any job has to be paid for by the worker out of whats left of their wages after they have had to pay for all the employers fees and pay the umbrella company just to be paid for the work they have done. These agencies and payment companies are taking hundreds of millions of pounds that hard working men and women have earned and lining their pockets while the people who have done the actual hard work are left to struggle day to day with no guarantee of work on a daily basis.
