We must reduce the amount this chemical is used because of the wildlife and nature impact. The bees are unable to live around this chemical and the plants it's used on. Bees are in serious decline and need our support. Tests support it is carcinogenic to humans too, can be linked to cancer, liver and kidney damage, diabetes. There are many other means available online to give ideas for how to replace this chemical and rid the streets from weeds. We managed before this came along and we have a moral duty to manage now, for the bees and insects, and human wellbeing.

In the UK the average family throws away 22% of their weekly shop, which is worth £700 per year. Food waste is really, really bad for the environment. It takes a land mass larger than China to grow the food each year that is ultimately never eaten – all to produce food that we then just throw away. In addition, food that is never eaten accounts for 25% of all fresh water consumption globally. Not only are all of the resources that went into creating the uneaten food wasted (land, water, labour, energy, manufacturing, packaging, etc), but when food waste goes to landfill, which is where the vast majority of it ends up, it decomposes without access to oxygen and creates methane, which is 23x more deadly than carbon dioxide. Every which way you look at it food waste is a major culprit in destroying our planet, and in fact if food waste were a country, it would be the third largest emitter of greenhouse gases after China and the USA. Planning permission has been applied for to build 91 acres of permanent and seasonal white plastic polytunnels in Ocle Pychard. The face of the beautiful green county of Herefordshire is slowly being wrapped in plastic, turning it into an industrial wasteland for yet more strawberry production. The application also includes a settlement to house 330 itinerant workers. The people who live in this tranquil and rural area - many of whom are elderly, and have lived their whole lives here - now face the prospect of being surrounded, their rural views being replaced by 5.2m high polythene structures. There will be negligible benefit to the local residents and businesses, as these farms operate as independent, isolated and self-contained communities. This development only benefits the owner, who doesn't even live here. Noise pollution, light pollution, loss of biodiversity and natural habitats, the effect on leisure and tourism, increased heavy traffic on the roads ... the impact of such a development is massive. Combine that with the damage to the wellbeing and peace of mind of the people who live here, and you have to ask whether it's really worth it. Each such development that is granted permission by the council paves the way for the next development. When will it end? Will the rural counties of the UK disappear under oceans of plastic as Almeria in Spain has? After many requests and dogged persistence, East Sussex County Council (ESCC) Transport Monitoring team conducted a speed survey on Malling Street/Malling Hill in April. The results were shocking. The data tells us that: • an average of 24,000 vehicles pass by our houses on Malling Street every single day • one third of them are breaking the 30 mph speed limit – 8,000 • over 2,000 of them are going over 36 mph – every single day! We do not believe that we should wait until there is a fatality or serious injury before ESCC put up speed signs, paint road markings indicating the speed limit or – ideally – install a speed camera. We are fed up with the speed of traffic down our street, Malling Street, and Malling Hill, particularly the big HGVs who either don’t know or don’t care about the 30mph speed limit. We are also tired of East Sussex County Council and others taking little action regarding our concerns and requests for speed enforcement. We want: • to create a better environment for all road and pavement users in our area. • less fast and heavy traffic which is dangerous and creates pollution. • all drivers to treat local residents with respect by sticking to the speed limit.

The water runs in from a spring in the nearby hill and creates a boggy mess on the lower playground. The surface becomes very slippery and dangerous, many children have slipped there in the past. At present Torridge District Council have no plans to replace the climbing frame they recently removed because of the spring but we want to see them do something about it so the equipment can be replaced. This is important to the children, they love to spend time playing at the park. There is already a very limited amount of equipment available for them to play with and it is unfair that they have more taken away.

Burton End Road is a main road in Haverhill. It is used by hundreds of vehicles daily and acts as a main thoroughfare for hundreds of children and their carers attending one of several schools within the area. At the moment, the road narrows to single file at one end and relies on vehicles giving way to each other which more often than not encourages drivers to speed up, going way above the 30mph limit, as they don't want to wait. Vehicles are often seen mounting the already very narrow pavements barely missing pedestrians as well as racing towards pedestrians who attempt to cross the road. We would like to see several changes made to the area including -regular clearance of the foliage opposite Anglian Place which obstructs the narrow pavements - metal barriers along the pavements where the traffic goes into single file -a zebra crossing near to Cleves Road -flashing signs which show the drivers the speed they are travelling at These changes will ensure the risk of a child being run over dramatically reduced as well as encourgage more children and their carers to walk to school as it will be safer thus reducing the traffic volume and carbon emissions.

This petition is very important as driver's that speed down Field End Road are putting our children in serious danger, as well as us parents. A few serious accidents have happened within the last 6 months, could've been avoided had the driver's stuck to the speed limit.

The British love common land. Although all common land is owned by someone, in the hearts of the British people it will forever belong to them. People are free to visit, free to roam, and free to sit and stare. These are very precious freedoms, even more so because common land is a natural, unspoiled, environment that everyone can enjoy and where threatened wildlife and plants can survive and thrive. But land owners, cash-strapped councils, commercial organisations and other organisations, are now trying to exploit our common land for its financial value, to the detriment of its natural state, the threatened species that inhabit it and, of course, our free access to it. The Commons Act 2006, which applies in England and Wales, requires anyone constructing buildings, ditches, embankments, or hard surfaces, or putting structures or fences, on common land, to make an application to the Planning Inspectorate for consent. There are certain exceptions, but these relate only to traditional countryside uses or the direct conservation of the common. The public, and environmental bodies, are consulted on every application. However, if anyone chooses NOT to make an application for consent, there is nothing that the Planning Inspectorate, or the Secretary of State for the Environment, can do about it. Officials need to be able to demand applications for consent for works on common land, stop works that do not have consent, levy sanctions for non-compliance, and much more. The provisions of the Commons Act 2006 MUST be reinforced by the Secretary of State for the Environment, to protect and preserve all our common land in England and Wales, and to leave it in a fit and natural state for future generations.

North Lanarkshire Council intend to close the plant nursery in September 2018. This would be a great loss for the whole of North Lanarkshire, and would mean putting plant containers, bedding and floral displays out to tender to the private sector. Also, this would put an end to job placements and horticulture in this area, as well as the loss of visitors in Coatbridge. The nursery has over 100 years of service within this authority, and is used by several vulnerable groups, who would no longer have access to the support they get here. We recommend the council steps in to stop this closure and keeps the complex open to the public and available to the community. More than 1300 people have already supported our campaign by signing the petition available in the cafe at Drumpellier Country Park, please sign this petition to show the strength of support in the community for retaining this service.

Scalpcliff Hill is a Designated Nature Reserve and area of Ancient Woodland with the trees and habitat supporting a number of protected species. The area has been further designated a Site of Biological Importance (SBI) within Staffordshire. The Nature Reserve is a designated Nature Reserve and the wildlife and habitat protected and preserved for future generations to enjoy.

We all should be aware of the threat of global warming, and how it is rapidly affecting life on Earth. Much has already been done to ensure more sustainability in our daily activities, however, there is so much more that can be improved still! Whether a landfill is filled with general household rubbish like food waste and un-recyclable plastics, it is forgotten that this also includes excess clothing produced by a vast fashion retail industry. An estimated 300,000 tons of clothes are sent to landfills in the UK annually! Imagine how many refugees, homeless people and people living in poverty all over the world could benefit from more clothing being donated to charities! With the added bonus of reducing carbon emissions where the clothes would have been burned! Let's follow France's example and make our retail industry more eco-friendly and sustainable!
