• Replace the terms 'Girls and Boys/ Ladies and Gentleman' to improve wellbeing
There are significant numbers of people, who feel strongly about these issues - are you one of them? Replacing these terms would signify a move forward in a progressive society that seeks to value people. 'Labelling' is a social construct and as such can be de/reconstructed. Those responsible for providing a service, compulsory or non-compulsory, to the general public can lead the way in replacing these terms from audio and written materials to move closer to a society that embraces equality and diversity in a meaningful way. The positive message that this action could effect links to equality, diversity, mental health, resilience and wellbeing. All of these factors can contribute to flourishing linked not only to the emotional and psychological benefit of the country and as importantly the economic health of a nation. A flourishing nation is a rich nation. The Wellbeing of Future Generations Act (Wales) 2015 sets out this stall. The overt and subconscious messages that permeate society around gender, limit the aspirations of those who absorb and internalise them. Language plays a powerful role in the development of identity and self belief. This call to action requests a simple and clear mandate, to catalyse cultural change and be part of the solution rather than the problem. Wales leads the way on many progressive issues; let this be one of them. Be part of that change.

  • Bring an Aldi Store to Barry, South Wales
Barry is the 5th largest town in Wales (after Cardiff, Swansea, Newport, Wrexham and Merthyr) and could easily support an Aldi store. This would give local people access to the two budget supermarkets and widen the choices available to the people in Barry. Using Facebook as my measure, I believe that there is a significant majority of people in Barry that would welcome the addition of an Aldi store and that the Vale's planning department should respect the wishes of the people in Barry

  • Catmose College - hot weather uniform policy
It is both unfair and unsafe to expect students to wear the prescribed uniform which includes black blazers, ties and tights, in spells of hot weather. The relaxing of these items is In order to promote health and wellbeing and to maximise concentration levels amongst students. This is practiced within all major uniformed associations such as military and emergency services. Guidance should also be observed by NHS England http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/Summerhealth/Pages/Heatwave.aspx After a short and frank discussion this morning with the Headteacher on this issue, my suggestions were met with a degree of negativity. Whilst a decision was made to relax the uniform with an impending high of 29 degrees C, comments were made to suggest there have been no complaints from either Parents or Students, one which I aim to prove is not the case. Therefore, I would like to call on all Parents and Guardians who have children at this school to support this petition and ensure a fair and safe policy is adopted. Contrary to comments posted on social media by the school, yesterday is believed to be the first time the uniform was officially relaxed through a notification to all staff from the Head Teacher, bizarrely this was after pressure on FB and my face to face conversation with the Head. I am not in search of glory, but it needs to be made clear this was down to pressure, which this petition further enhances. Thank you all in advance😉

  • Please let the People Parking Bay in Hackney remain
We would like to see a people parking bay or parklet in every street in Hackney. The provision of official parklets by Hackney Council in three locations in Hackney in three years is welcome and we recognise Hackney is ahead of the curve in London. However, it will take a millennium to have a significant impact on the parking environment in Hackney. Therefore, we would like to work with the Council to develop a community and business led 'parklet' programme that will allow people and businesses to invest in the public realm. This experimental community parklet allows the gauging of public support for such an idea. Please do let the experiment run its course. The bay is very popular with residents and passers by. The visitor book has hundreds of positive comments: https://goo.gl/photos/gUA8bbtaMamuCcUC8 Walking is the most common way for people to get around in Hackney but while car parking dominates kerbside space there is little provision for pedestrians to rest. Many people, including older and disabled people, and people with kids need regular rest stops while walking, and pavements are too narrow for walking let alone placing benches on them. The popularity of this people parking bay is demonstrating that resting spots for pedestrians are likely to very popular. The people parking bay was a lead article in Local Transport Today. https://www.transportxtra.com/publications/parking-review/news/53699/hackney-resident-wants-to-convert-parking-bays-into-people-places www.peopleparkingbay.com

  • Rehome All Tenants of Grenfell Tower
It's a damning indictment of our society that people are afraid to accept help because of draconian, ideological restrictions on social housing. People MUST be treated with dignity.

  • Reinstate the 8 Human Rights workers sacked by e-mail
In February 2017 after months of negotiations trying to avoid compulsory redundancies triggered by deep budget cuts, EHRC management sent e-mails to 8 workers work addresses informing them they were being made redundant whilst they were taking part in a lawful one day protest strike. The EHRC still has over 47 equivalent vacancies these displaced workers could easily fill, but has so far refused to do so. What is so shocking is this employer also happens to be the UK's UN recognised guardian of our Human Rights! With Brexit uncertainty and challenges to Human Rights law being suggested, we need a strengthened fully resourced EHRC to defend the most vulnerable from discrimination and attack.

  • Extend equal marriage to all areas of the UK now
Currently same sex marriage is not allowed in Northern Ireland. This is because, despite laws being passed in the UK that grant same-sex marriages, the Northern Irish assembly (because of the now infamous DUP) has blocked any such proposal there. This means that LGBT UK citizens are being treated as 2nd class citizens in a part of the UK, we need to address this quickly and with certainty, as this is intolerable. It will also have further reaching consequences as a change in law in Northern Ireland will strengthen our position when campaigning with other countries when they deny their citizens equal LGBT rights.

  • DUPs views have no place in our government
Some of the DUP’s views are dangerous. They include being anti-abortion, opposing same-sex marriage, and denying climate change. These views have no place in British politics. But they could end up having a lot of influence in the government. The UK government should lead the world on these issues. If the DUPs backwards agenda is allowed to influence UK government policy, it could set us back years. If you believe in action on climate change, the right of women to choose, and the right of every LGBT person to marry whoever they want, please sign the petition.

  • Local Authority funding for The Tree Club
The children that attend the Tree Club have complex needs that include communication difficulties, requirement of personal care, sensory and processing difficulties, and challenging behaviour. To support them and to meet the requirements of regulatory bodies such as the Care Inspectorate we provide a high staffing ratio and in depth training. This is a significant cost to the organisation that simply can’t be met by parent fees. Our children have very few opportunities to access mainstream clubs and activities, if any. The Tree Club aims to bridge this gap. We endeavour to meet all our children/young people’s individual care plans. These plans detail the requirements for each young person to meet their full potential in relation to social and well-being targets. The Tree Club monitors and develops these plans, and supports each child’s individual outcomes, through carefully thought-out accessible activities, which focus on peer interaction, enhancing abilities and most important of all – providing fun play. The Tree Club allows parents and carers to access quality and affordable after school care, matching the similar mainstream provision, that is unfortunately inaccessible for our children. We also provide holiday schemes, allowing carers greater choices to be able to either access or support their ability to work, or support respite and/or quality time for our young people’s siblings. We offer this respite which for most of our service users’ families is impossible to source elsewhere. This service provides a break from caring, an opportunity to recharge their batteries and a support network to discuss issues and behaviour techniques and coping strategies and reduces the social isolation they face.

  • National Recognition By the NHS & NICE of the diagnosis For Dissosiative Identity Disorder
There is no firm recognition within the majority of the psychiatric establishment within the NHS of the existence of Dissociative identity disorder. Many sufferers are brushed aside & accused of being liars & are often accused of fabricating the symptoms. People with DID need to be recognised & supported within our community.

  • Condemn Donald Trump for pulling out of Paris climate agreement
This is an international problem, which met with an international solution - and Britain must join the international condemnation of America's terrible, selfish decision. We do not want to live in a world dominated by bullies. We do not want to live in a Britain too scared to do anything America doesn't want. We demand leadership that makes us proud to be British. If Theresa May cannot condemn America's decision to condemn our planet, will she ever stand up for anything? British people stand up for others, and we stand up for what we believe in. We do not want a Prime Minister who licks the boots of the American president. Theresa May must show strong leadership and sign the international letter condemning Donald Trump and his abandonment of the Paris agreement.
