• FIX THE FOOTPATHS OF BRITAIN
A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO ARE IN WHEELCHAIRS OR SCOOTERS, LIKE ME, ARE IN TERRIBLE PAIN ALREADY AND HAVING TO COPE WITH THIS 'OBSTACLE COURSE' OFTEN PUTS THEM OFF GOING OUT ALTOGETHER DEPRIVING THEM OF THE MUCH NEEDED FRESH AIR AND THEIR FREEDOM OF INDEPENDENCE, SO......... MAKING THEM HOUSEBOUND. THE CONCRETE GRIDS (LINES) BY THE CROSSINGS AND CYCLE LANES ALSO CAUSE A LOT OF PAIN.

  • Free High Quality Pollution Masks For All In London
I just spent £40.00 on a pollution mask so that I can cycle my way into town with feeling slightly safer with less exposure to the toxic levels of air pollution that fill the city. At first, on purchasing the mask it almost felt like the normal thing to do, increasingly seeing more masks pop up on cyclists faces throughout town. "Well the air dramatically exceeds legal toxicity levels, it gives me respiratory problems, it flares my hay-fever up terribly... I guess this is just something i need now because this is how it is, and i care about my health..." I thought to myself. But wait a minute... Why am i having to fork out forty quid so i can breath safely on my way to work?! Especially when I am one of the few who are trying to make a difference by choosing to cycle my way around town. I am not contributing to this health crisis yet I am paying for it. The truth is, we're all paying for it whether you're a cyclist, driver, walker, tuber. Having lived in London for 3 years now, and been a cyclist the entire time, the terrible air quality is something myself and friends have become increasingly aware of and is something we have noticed getting worse with little being done urgently to change this. "Around 9,500 people die in London alone every year due to long-term exposure to air pollution, with most deaths due to nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and fine particulates known as PM2.5s." (Guardian 7 Oct 2015) "The research based on the latest updated London Atmospheric Emissions Inventory, shows that every area in the capital exceeds World Health Organisation (WHO) limits for a damaging type of particle known as PM2.5. It also found that 7.9 million Londoners – nearly 95% of the capital’s population – live in areas that exceed the limit by 50% or more. In central London the average annual levels are almost double the WHO limit of 10 µg/m3." - (Guardian Oct, 2017) An "Ultra Low emission zone" set for 2019 and to be expanded by 2021 is a good step, but we need more urgent action to be taken. "Paul Morozzo, a clean air campaigner at Greenpeace, said: “London air isn’t safe to breathe. Every person in London is affected by this crisis – old or young, healthy or ill. The air you breathe in London is putting your health at risk now and in the future, whether you realise it or not." (Guardian 4 Oct 2017). Cyclists, walkers and members of the public who choose to opt out of driving/ public transport should be encouraged to continue staying green by being given pollution masks to wear in the increasingly dangerous and toxic environment. Although i feel this is by no means a solution to the problem, and Government must take more drastic steps to ensure the safety of the public here in London and in all areas across the country affected by air pollution, I feel this is a fair and necessary action until air quality improves. The Masks should be seen as an immediate and necessary tool to reduce the risk of illness in a city with a government that seems to refuse to take responsibility for the mess it has caused to air quality. I just don't feel this is something I should have to pay for when Government could implement stricter laws more urgently to protect it's people right now. High quality pollution masks such as the Respro Ultralight Pollution Mask filter out the deadly particulates and dust allowing you to breath cleaner air. I hope that this petition may reach and enlighten those who may not be aware of the severity of the crisis. I am not just campaigning for my own health and well-being, but for all in the city. We should all be wearing pollution masks right now, however you travel through the city. If you are concerned for you and your families health regarding air pollution, and you feel you should be protected with a mask, then I feel it is the responsibility of Government to provide you with one. I don't feel I should be rewarded or congratulated for choosing to cycle. I love cycling. I get everywhere faster, I have more fun, i get exercise and i feel good at the thought that i am not contributing to the air crisis. But I feel we all should have the right to breath safer, cleaner air, especially if you care enough to take positive action to combat the problem.

  • Start caring about Carers!
Carers are becoming ill with the huge strain put on them. Most working 24/7 - 365 days of the year with little or no help from outside sources. I have been one such Carer for eleven years and my health has deteriorated drastically because of it. There are even child Carers who have to help out at home and don't get paid anything as nobody knows about so many of them.

1 in 3 of us will suffer with a mental health issue in our lives. Whether it be depression, eating disorders, body dismorphia, suicidal feelings or stuggling to cope with life on a daily basis, yet we are not given any advice or lessons in schools to learn coping strategies or how to spot an issue and help others. We have sex education, but not education on how to cope with a relationship break up, we learn about nutrition, but not about how to spot someone who is abusing themselves with food. We need to teach our children how to cope if they or their friends, family need help.

  • A Place of Sanctuary - Right Care, Right Time, Right Place
What’s the problem? Nationally, mental health services are in crisis. Southwark Pensioners Action Group (SPAG) supports the campaign to open a Place of Sanctuary at the Maudsley Hospital, Denmark Hill site.  Kings A&E feels like an awful place to be if you are having a mental health crisis because in a busy, hectic sometimes aggressive reception area alongside those with broken limbs or other physical trauma.  It’s feels even worse if you are a child, a young person, a pregnant woman or a mum with a baby  60% of young people turning up in crisis are not known to mental health services for children and young people  The significant increase in knife crime since January 2018 means Kings A&E is under huge pressure What do we want?  A 24 hour walk-in Place of Sanctuary at the Maudsley Hospital Denmark Hill site for those in mental health crisis.  Especially for Children and Young People, and Pregnant Women, Mothers with Babies in mental health crisis  Mental health money must reach the frontline  No more cuts to Children and Young Peoples’ mental health services in or out of hospital Why?  Kings A&E is not a Place of Sanctuary for people who need emergency mental health treatment  Excellent crisis care saves lives  Our children, pregnant mums and mothers with young babies deserve far better emergency mental health services What time is it??  It’s TIME for the South London and Maudesley Hospital Trust to step up  It’s TIME for the Trust to provide a 24 hour walk in Place of Sanctuary at Denmark Hill  It’s TIME for the Trust to pull its weight for those in mental health crisis Who can do it?  You can by signing this petition 

  • Clean Air Day 2018 - Making West Midlands Transport Fit for the Future
The 21st June is National Clean Air Day, when children and adults across the West Midlands are pledging to walk, cycle and raise awareness of the effects of air pollution. As you know, all member authorities of the WMCA have areas which exceed legal limits of nitrogen dioxide. Evidence shows that such exposure reduces lung growth, contributes to long term ill health and can cause premature death. We hope that National Clean Air Day will reduce pollution on the day, but more importantly it is an opportunity to focus on the future. The single largest source of nitrogen dioxide in many areas is diesel cars, and in this region more than most this is due to a car dependency faced by many households. For too many people public transport, walking and cycling do not feel safe or practical. Road congestion damages our health, economy and communities, and the current dependence on cars is unsustainable with a growing population. Meanwhile, cars contribute to many of the other health challenges we face. Among these, the West Midlands has some of the highest childhood obesity rates in the country, and the lowest rates of physical activity - both would improve if children felt safe to walk and cycle. Sedentary lifestyles are closely linked to car use and contribute to major illnesses such as diabetes, heart disease and depression. The combined authority includes areas which already have some of the poorest health outcomes in the country. If the West Midlands is to grow inclusively the opportunity for health must be available to all residents, with clean air, safe roads, and well-connected transport.

  • Remove VAT from female sanitary products
Due to the new sugar tax, the government is set to make £250 million a year. The very most female sanitary products could make from VAT is £130 million a year, and that's if every woman in the UK needed them, which clearly isn't possible, but it shows the maximum amount they could possibly make. It's clear sugar tax will make up this difference and making money wasn't even its primary reason for it being implemented. It's obvious female sanitary products are not a luxury item, and women all over the globe need them. Being charged VAT on them is simply ludicrous. There is simply no excuse now for VAT being on female sanitary products anymore even at a reduced rate. Periods aren't a choice, and female sanitary products are necessary to deal with it. Women shouldn't be charged on a product they NEED - not WANT, NEED. It doesn't make sense, its obvious it doesn't make sense and now it doesn't make sense financially either.
