• Excessive vehicle speeds around Lyndhurst
These roads are constantly used by both vehicles and pedestrians and cyclists. Most drivers drive at a very high speed along these roads which the Parish Council feels could have a serious or fatal consequences There have been 2 fatalities in 2014 After many failed attempts to persuade the authorities to act and assist Lyndhurst Parish Council, we feel it's time to ask the public to support our cause to prevent anymore injuries or fatalities.

  • No to Edinburgh Rugby at Myreside
This development of the stadium will fundamentally change the nature of our quiet residential area. Thousands of people will regularly be travelling to and parking in the area - Myreside, Merchiston, Craiglockhart, Shandon/Harrison Park and Morningside/Craighouse. These plans will result in: Very large volumes of traffic being brought into the surrounding area, with road safety being a concern. There is already heavy congestion in the vicinity during peak times and these plans will significantly increase problems on roads leading into and out of the area Parking in residential areas and private developments – Edinburgh Rugby estimates what we believe is a conservative 500 cars per match for the trial period. We believe the limited public transport in the area will result in many 100s of cars, minibuses and buses parking in surrounding areas - and those without resident parking permit restrictions will be most affected - as supporters follow their teams for across UK and Europe. Visual and environmental impact of a large stadium complex being built. Noise and litter problems, temporary food stalls and bars, anti-social behaviour.

  • Protect The Arts in The Arches
The railway arches on John Street have housed independent arts based businesses for nearly 30 years. It has been a vibrant cultural space for the nurturing of grassroots talent in music, dance, theatre and various other arts. There are few other spaces in the city centre that have this kind of thriving arts community. Currently the arches are home to 3 independent businesses, The Cardiff Arches, Jukebox Collective and Only Drums Aloud. All 3 have been based at the arches for over 10 years. The Cardiff Arches rehearsal and recording studios provide a vital city centre resource for all Cardiff based musicians including young musicians who don’t have the transport or budget to travel to out-of-town studios. Jukebox Collective is a leading company for street dance education and performance in the UK and was recently awarded National Portfolio Organisation Status by Arts Council Wales. Only Drums Aloud has been providing award winning drum tuition to children and adults of all abilities for over 12 years at the arches, and as well as a samba band and group tuition it also double as a rehearsal space. A recent planning application for office blocks the land adjoining the railway arches is threatening their continued use as music and dance studios by restricting the access and parking that are currently available to users of the arches. We believe that some minor changes to the proposal will allow the redevelopment to go ahead whilst retaining access and parking for all 6 studios on the row therefore allowing the arts in the area to continue to flourish.

  • Everyone 4 Squash
Dear Squash Fan! We hope you can take a moment to sign our online 'e-petition' to help our squash courts in Scarborough. Four years ago we registered our interest to become part of the new Scarborough Leisure Village which is due to be completed in May 2017. The Council pledged to replace the existing facilities and 3 new glass back squash courts were centrally located in the plans. Today we face the threat of having no courts as the potential leisure service operators want a larger gym. So at this 11th hour the Council are wanting to change the original plans and completely remove the squash courts. This would leave us with no courts in the town centre and far too many gyms. Therefore we are starting this 'Everyone 4 Squash' campaign to secure the presence and long term success of squash in Scarborough fo our current players and generations to come. We would be grateful if you could show your support and by signing our petition and spreading the word to all fans of squash and other competitive sports. Many thanks for your support, 'Everyone 4 Squash' Scarborough Squash Players

  • Cleaner air for all Londoners!
Over 9,000 early deaths are caused by air pollution in London every year. There are areas in London that exceeded annual pollution limits just eight days into 2016. These pollution hotspots are on our high streets, by our children’s schools and where we work. We’re finding out more and more about how damaging air pollution is - not to just people with asthma, like myself, or other respiratory or even heart conditions, but to children whose lungs are smaller, whose growth is stunted, because of the dirty air they breathe. That’s why, despite living in Zone 3, I was shocked to discover that both of my children’s schools are in air pollution hotspots, where legal limits are regularly broken. Sadly, this is not unusual, as many primary schools are on roads with heavy traffic and this is the biggest source of air pollution in our city. Even more shockingly, under current plans by the UK Government, London won’t meet legal limits of air pollution until at least 2025 – 15 years after the original deadline. At the moment the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) will mean only the cleanest vehicles can enter central London from 2020. This is still, however, not enough to clean up all of London’s air even by 2025. That’s why Sadiq is looking at whether the ULEZ should be expanded to the North and South circulars. Yet, there are pollution hotspots outside of this area. So, the ULEZ needs to be expanded to cover the whole of Greater London to protect all Londoners. The UK Government has been taken to court for failing to protect us from air pollution and the previous Mayor did very little to clean up our air. While I welcome the considerable efforts that the new Mayor has taken, I encourage him to be bolder, braver and faster with action to address this crisis.

  • Protect Cornwall from Diesel Power Plants
The proposed plant sits within a cluster of fields just across the road from both an Area of outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) regions. There are two Bronze age barrows that are Scheduled Ancient Monuments and a third non-scheduled Iron Age round that are in close proximity. Concerns exist on both the visual impact on the beautiful countryside of National archaeological importance and the environmental impact this brings. http://www.heritagegateway.org.uk/Gateway/Results_Single.aspx?uid=MCO8831&resourceID=1020. We believe that the affect on this Archaeological site* will be profound. As such we think that the decision should lie in the Secretary of Sates hands. *Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979 Section 61(9) Lets not set a detrimental precedence that allows the subsidies for burning Fossil Fuels and polluting an area heavily devoted to Green energy sources. Join us in opposing this inappropriate development.

  • Save allotments green space:tonight 26th July to be destroyed for a car park
Allotments are the key to local sustainability they provide food and produce for the community, much needed activity and socialisation for local people , they support the environment for providing a home for urban insects birds and animals ,and are an oasis in our sprawling concrete of green fertile ground . The local government are attempting at the last minute to rail road through plans to commandeer the allotment land to make way for a car park for the station. In the constituency of Theresa May ! I am not against providing facilities for the station as it encourages use of our railways however this needs great debate and cannot just be pushed through the back Door , to destroy part of our environment and heritage and community without first consulting the local community. The parish council meeting is tonight 26th July . Please sign my petition This is important for our environment and our children's futures.

  • Aberdeen City Council Is Blocking Aberdeen Royal Infirmary Car Park Plans
Many people are not able to use the bus service due to the high costs, or the long waiting times. Also many people are in poor health, and have no choice but to use the car to either attend appointments or visit the hospital. The parking at present is exceptionally poor, and many have to go home without visiting patients as they cannot get parked.

  • Save Chelsea Farmers Market
The Chelsea Farmers Market is one of the few remaining outdoor independent trading locations in the heart of Chelsea reflecting the great history that made the Kings Road and surrounding areas a place individual to the rest of London, a thriving village. Any plan to demolish this would remove a heart of the community that is different from any where else in Chelsea. Only this site offers a unique outdoor experience to diners and shoppers. The Kings Road has increasingly become like any other High Street in England, however The Chelsea Farmers Market offers an escape from this by providing relaxed outdoor experience all year round to the residents and visitors of Chelsea. It's a unique destination enjoyed by all walks of life. The loss of The Chelsea Farmers Market would be another nail in the coffin for independent traders and individual community space for the sake of the commercial and financial gain of the minority. We need the power of the local residents, visitors and Londoners to help prevent this change to an area that will be demolished and never be re-created. Your signature can help preserve one of the few existing open air trading spaces, save jobs and prevent another concrete jungle from being developed.

  • WOODVALE: STOP THE ROT
A redevelopment of Sandbrook Way in (Woodvale, Southport) has been promised again and again, only to have scheme after scheme flop. We still have a badly lit, down-at-heel, area around the shops, which attracts antisocial behaviour. One sticking point putting developers off is the fact that there are many interests and owners to relocate or agree to change. As a result the problem persists. It can be solved if the Council uses its powers and is willing, when there is deadlock, to compulsorily purchase property at the market rate. If they show they are willing to do this it will potentially encourage developers to take more interest. Those who are holding up development will have to sell. So far the Council has NOT been willing to use its muscle and as a result the area remains blighted. We do not run the council but we can put real pressure on by petitioning the Council to take action and use its compulsory' purchase powers. We need your help. Cllrs Lynne Thompson and Haydn Preece are also collecting hard copy signatures.

  • SAVE "POLZEATH PANCAKE SHACK" (mr surfys)
We are a pancake shack, we are based on a cliff where there is no shop, food outlet of facilities for 1 mile. We provide a service for people local and tourists, serving drinks and hot food to take away, we are sensitive about the enviroment where we are, and we operate from an ECO cabin, which runs on wind power, we take our rubbish home and we use recyclables. We are only open during weekends and summer months, we close the shack and move it by the end of September. We have permission from the land owner at Atlantic terrace to say we can operate from the parking space, and also the highways agency, have no objections to us being there. We have been there at New Polzeath for 6 years now, and since the road closure with the Atlantic house hotel, we have considerably lost business. But we are still open for the public, as we are providing a service, and also we only use local suppliers.
