  • Disabled Parking at Hospitals in England
England is the only part of the UK where hospitals routinely charge patients and visitors for parking at all. Guidance by the Department of Health & Social Care is that concessions should be available for disabled people.* Free parking should be allowed for disabled people because they: > Are commonly forced to visit hospital more frequently, precisely because of their disabilities > Generally have much lower incomes, often less than half the national average > Are much more likely to live in poverty** > Often have to meet extra costs directly caused by their disabilities * https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/nhs-patient-visitor-and-staff-car-parking-principles/nhs-patient-visitor-and-staff-car-parking-principles#fn:2 ** https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/disability-facts-and-figures/disability-facts-and-figures#living-standards

  • Drive UC back to legacy benefits
So many people are being scrutinised by this government and as a result, are suffering. Many stories have been shared in the media since this cruel system rolled out. It’s time for this government to be held to account. Enough is enough. Only the rich can survive in the UK today.

  • Limit Online Gambling amounts
It is important because online gambling is destroying families and peoples lives. The online gambling companies are quick enough to restrict or even close peoples accounts if they are winning too much. In other words it is impossible to win. Let's level the playing field by restricting what everyone can spend with an online gambling company to say £50 per week. This way debt and asset loss cannot spiral out of control in an extremely worrying short space of time. I know of a case where somebody gambled away their family home without their partner knowing anything until the repossessors knocked on the door.

  • Improve the university experience for autistic students
Countless students struggle with issues of isolation and distraction, feeling overwhelmed by everything around them during their transition to university. For students with an autism spectrum disorder, these struggles are magnified and are an every day struggle. There are many difficulties that people with autism may face when transitioning from school to university and we are urging universities to be proactive in bettering their existing services as well as introducing new ones. We are not trying to help students overcome an autism spectrum disorder or get around it. We are campaigning the university to help ensure that students with autism are achieving their full potential during their studies. We are beginning this campaign at Cardiff University, with the aim to expand it across all Russell Group universities.

  • End Loneliness
If we can end loneliness with a little community spirit then this will lessen mental health issues down the line. This will have a positive affect on the NHS and community spirit in general. If someone knows they will get at least one visit a month it will give them something to look forward to.

  • Abandon the Library Consultation
Libraries matter to communities. To make informed decisons about libraries the Council needs to know what people think. But this consultation will not do that. The consultation is stuff full of jargon. The language is confusing. It should be in plain English. Readability of text can be measured using a SMOG test. That's "Simple Measure of Gobbledygook". The Sun newspaper has a SMOG value of less than 14. The Express is less than 16. The Guardian and Telegraph is around 17. The SMOG value of Worcestershire County Council's consulation is an amazing 44! Ordinary people have little chance of understanding it. But a good consultation should be about getting ordinary people's views. The Council should therefore abandon it and do it properly!

  • Use only silent fireworks in Scotland
Small children and animals are being constantly put in a state of fear for weeks at a time due to the careless use and misuse of noisy explosive fireworks. My dogs are trembling with fear every night, others are sharing their stories of similarly terrified pets on facebook and twitter.

  • Immediate reduction of high stakes gambling machines
These machines let people spend thousands in a matter of minutes, creating lots of gambling addicts. This directly effects social and mental wellbeing, and leads to 2 people committing suicide every day. The only reason the government has done this is because of financial gain from the tax system of around £400 million! This is a very disappointing irresponsible attitude.
