• Change the marketing name of “Kaffir Lime Leaves” to it’s Thai name “Makrut Lime Leaves”
The word “Kaffir” has roots in the Arabic language but has come to be a racial slur, usually directed at Black African people, around the world. It’s etymology with regards to the fruit and tree is not clear, however it is believed to have racial connotations. Lime leaves are increasingly becoming a cupboard and freezer staple in the UK thanks to the growth in popularity of Thai food on the British isles. The name “Makrut” is commonly used in Thailand and the name is free of any racial or negative connotations. “Makrut” is a more suitable term for our retailers to market this produce under. Britain has a proud history of multiculturalism and anti-racism. Whilst the term “Kaffir” may not be in common usage here, it’s meaning can still be felt by many who reside in the UK. Food is a cultural cornerstone and every dish we eat reflects thousands of years of human history, as well as trillions of years of natural history. It always reflect the movement and integration of peoples, and we can nurture and promote that by giving lime leaves the name they deserve. We can prevent the unnecessary use of an offensive racial epithet by people who simply want to enjoy good food.

  • Children before politics
Families are facing unprecedented hardship. The Child Poverty Action group stated today that: “We've reached a low point if in the midst of a pandemic we can't make sure children in the lowest income families have a nutritious meal in the middle of the day."

  • Reconsider Boris Johnson's plan for Transport for London
It is going to impact extremely unfairly on all londoners. It will particularly cause hardship to the poorest. It is totally unreasonable to impose such restrictions when the problem has been caused by Londoners following the government's advice to avoid travelling on public transport. According to Sadiq Khan the government lied about tfl's finances. The problem also results from the historical refusal of the government to finance public transport in London at a similar level to other capital cities.

  • Save Our Yoga Communities
Scotland's physical and mental wellbeing is suffering. Suicide rates are going up and not enough is being done to help freelance group instructors and Yoga businesses who are trying to ease the burden on the NHS AND support NHS workers who need that external support from dealing with the added stress put on them. These sole traders and small businesses are supporting people by helping improve their immune systems with gentle breathwork and physical activity in a safe and nurturing environment, improving physical and mental wellbeing with Meditation and Mindfulness and generally create a support network for those that are more vulnerable including trauma-informed Yoga. These sessions are lifelines to people and without more help and support are at risk of disappearing altogether.

  • Support local voices in Peckham Town Centre
It is important for both a number of reasons. The first reason Is that they're planning to make a major development in the heart of Peckham. It will involve them building a 20 storeyTower block that will tower over Peckham. They are planning to build on the site of the Aylesham Shopping Centre. We were not consulted over this. It is out of character within its community. It does not meet local housing needs. It is too big and The tower will be up and running by 2023.

  • we need more schools to match the amount of housing.
I moved into a small village over a year ago and couldn't get my youngest into the local primary school. it took over a year. In fact over a 3 mile radius none of the schools could accommodate both my primary school aged children, resulting in them going to different primary schools. The local council have given permission to 3 different housing plans for over 300 houses on separate estates 1 village. The local school can only taken in 30 pupils per class with only 1 class per year, there isn't room in the local school for the children in the village already, with many kids having to travel over 1-2 miles to get to school. No 8 year old child should have to walk 2.8 miles one way to school because anything under 3 miles is classified as walking distance. with the amount of traffic and dangers around this should also be change. Children are our future, we need to make some changes to help them reach there full potential. PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME MAKE A CHANGE TO PROTECTION CHILDRENS FUTURES

  • Ban children from taking part in trail hunting
Most people oppose trail hunting. It is a matter of record that sometimes it involves cruelty to or painful death of foxes, inadvertently or otherwise. Until the Government bans it as uncivilised, one thing it can do: stop children under 18 attending meets or chases, something that is bad for their mental development and is even more uncivilised.

  • Ban cigarette filter tips that are not biodegradable
Cigarette filter tips traditionally take decades to breakdown, and are polluting our oceans and rivers. Up to 38% of waste found in our oceans are cigarette butts. There is no reason to continue using cellulose acetate for this.

  • Traffic Restrictions on Tatnam Road Poole
The closure of the end of Tatnam Road has meant long diversions for many motorists creating more traffic on other routes especially Wimborne Road. The lack of access to Fleets Lane and Sterte Road has meant longer journeys for personal, business and school traffic. The end of Tatnam Road has created a very much used turning point for traffic, especially the Poole High School traffic creating more pollution. It has also affected house sales (my personal experience) as it has taken away the convenience of getting to the town centre and railway station.
