• Stop charging tax on NHS overtime during covid crisis
NHS workers are not only working hard to care for all during this crisis at the moment, we are also working a lot extra and having annual leave cancelled to cover the crisis. We are all working a lot of extra hours but are being penalised massively by tax. I believe that all NHS workers should not be taxed on overtime and NHSP shifts whilst this crisis is ongoing. Not only are we attending work like lambs to the slaughter we are also paying a lot more in tax for the privilege of covering the front line and keeping people safe.

  • Decommission Stanlow Oil Refinery
This would create hundreds of new green jobs which could see workers transferred whilst Big Oil takes care of the retirement schemes for those of the right age. In time this would redress the social inequality in Halton, the borough next door, which currently has the lowest life expectancy in the United Kingdom. It would also dramatically reduce the pollution of the North West of England's two main cities, as well as the surrounding areas.

  • VAT refunds for SMEs
It’s imperative that help to save and sustain small businesses. The current climate will have catastrophic effects of the economy and socio economic issues in the community. We need to protect jobs and the businesses. I have asked the government to consider to refund the last two quarters of VAT for all businesses who have been trading for over 3 years or more and have set up a petition, This would help  SMEs to survive over the next few weeks and months . They too have outstanding bills to pay especially to their suppliers.  We know the Government has done a lot in terms of furloughed staff and the self employed. However unfortunately very little has been suggested for the owners of SMEs other than to get a loan.  Sadly not all companies could afford to take this on and repay; Especially now that businesses have been affected by this crisis. In addition the banks are NOT lending. I believe this initiative would be easy to implement and could possibly save thousands of businesses across the U.K. Notwithstanding all the monies could be returned over a period of time.  I plead with you to-put this forward in your capacity as a very high profile person in the media and within the government. I would be very grateful if you could sign and share the petition. As you know I need 10000 for it to be considered. Many thanks and stay safe and healthy.

  • Change The Count
Taking an annual snapshot of the homeless population to get a head count. is a anual joke within the homeless organisations whom the count is taken for to secure funding for each consistuancy. Sadly its not not a good joke cause someone's saying we've only got around 4250 people living on the streets, I have lived in the streets and believe the count is wrong! So here's a solution to try and get right.

  • Full benefits despite savings
People are suffering not being able to claim benefits for having over £16,000 or being penalised for having less than this with their benefit claims if over the £6,000. It's not fair. People have been saving for houses, children, amongst other things. Please raise the limits so we don't have to use our savings to live on that we may need in later life.

  • PPE - Demand and Supply Graph at COVID 19 Briefings
The current situation with PPE is particularly worrying as Health and Care workers are putting their lives on the line if it is not supplied. So far the government has been very woolly with figures but surely Health and Care workers as well as the general public are entitled to know if demand is being met.

  • Test all Care Home Residents and Staff for Covid 19
According to the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency 26% of all Covid 19 deaths in Northern Ireland to date are in Care Homes and hospices. https://www.nisra.gov.uk/sites/nisra.gov.uk/files/publications/Deaths%20Registered%20in%20NI%20-%20Week%2014%20-2020.pdf Many people living in residential and nursing homes are considered in the high-risk category. We must take every step we can to protect them. Widespread testing of residents and staff has not been taking place and there have also been significant shortages of personal protective equipment for staff.

  • Allow ALL small businesses access to the Small Business Coronavirus Grant Scheme
Why should small businesses (limited companies) operating from a residential address not qualify for the Coronavirus grant scheme? Just because we do not trade from a business property (paying business rates or claiming small business rate relief), we do not qualify for anything other than a loan - putting us further into long-term debt. According to the latest statistics from the House of Commons Business Statistics, there were around 2 million limited companies operating in the UK in 2019. Of these 2 million actively trading companies, around 990,000 were employers, whereas 891,000 companies were not. Therefore, just over half of limited companies are employers and just under a half are one-man-band businesses (more thank likely trading from home). The Government's "Small Business Coronavirus Grant Scheme" has let down these businesses simply because they trade from home. All I am asking is that these businesses be given access to the same grants system as the other businesses that trade from a property that is paying business rates (or receiving small business rates relief). Smaller businesses like ours do not have the reserves of our much larger counterparts and simply cannot afford to go three weeks (let alone another three) without income. To us, this isn't just a business, this our livelihood, this is how we feed our families.

  • Tax Free Pay for Keyworkers
Many keyworkers are paid poorly but provide essential services that keep the country going. This has been highlighted with the recent Coronavirus outbreak. Many of us turn up for work day in day out even without adequate PPE, so that the population is provided with care, food, transport, security among other services needed. We are now told we are valued but at the moment they are just words. When hopefully things get back to normal we will go back to being taken for granted. Show us how much we are actually valued.
