  • North Tyneside Council to abolish parking charges
North Tyneside Council currently have a system of parking charges which unfairly discriminates against anyone who has not got/ is unable to use either a mobile phone or debit card to pay for parking. The council also charge till 8pm every evening which is later than all surrounding council areas. Up and down the coastal car parks the council are replacing coin machines with pay by APP or debit card payment only. This means that people who use cash only cannot park as many people do not routinely carry mobile phones or debit cards whilst walking dogs, exercising, using the beach etc.... This ridiculous ruling will also undoubtedly have an undesirable knock on effect of additional parking in residential streets by visitors to the area. People who do not have mobile phones & debit cards for payment are being unfairly discriminated against by the council.

  • Abolish Gas and Electric Daily Standing Charge
All the energy providers charge for a daily standing charge (DSC) for the provision of Gas and Electric supplies. The DSC varies between energy providers and also which of their tariffs. This year the DSC appears to be in excess of 20p per day for either gas or electric. You could, therefore, be paying over £146 per year to energy providers in addition to the cost of your gas and electric. In this day and age, I cannot see any reason as to why a DSC should be levied, as it seems to go back to the days before consumers were given the choice of energy provider. I also believe that the DSC is also one way that the energy providers can increase tariff prices and gain extra revenue, yet state they have cheaper energy tariffs. This DSC should be abolished.

  • Remove tax on environmentally friendly products
There is an increasing focus on the recycling of many different materials. Whilst this is obviously vital for environmental sustainability, we should also encourage the use of recycled and reclaimed resources, to ‘close the loop’ and increase the demand for these materials.

  • Complete Footpath From New Cumnock To Cumnock
This is the link between New Cumnock and the main town, Cumnock. The path was constructed after a man was fatally injured on this stretch. As it is quite a level section it would help able bodied, disable, sight impaired people to both exercise and commute in safety. Many cannot afford to commute by bus for groceries etc.

  • Save Lloyds Bank Heathfield Branch
It is needed by the community and is a key part of our local infrastructure - lots of people use it and it has easy access for the disabled and elderly. A lot of businesses in the town rely on the branch to do their banking and have business accounts there.

  • Make Busby Glen Park Accessible
As a disabled resident I often walk my dog at Busby Glen. I use a mobility scooter so I’m unable to access the top part of the park as the only access is stairs. There is access if you are able to walk up the grass verges but on a mobility scooter, it’s impossible. I would like the council to address this issue.

  • Bring Back Zero Carbon Homes
Over the past couple of years, we've become aware that climate crisis is approaching even faster than we expected. We've seen record-breaking temperatures around the globe, and that's given rise to some apocalyptic scenes. Bats and birds dropping out of the sky during heatwaves in Australia. Wildfires in Greece and whole towns destroyed by wildfire in America. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has warned us that swift action must be taken in the next eleven years to avoid the worst consequences of climate change. 40% of the UK's emissions come from households. Every year, the average household emits 2.7 tonnes of CO2 just from heating. That's more than a person should emit every year from ALL sources - travel, food, shopping - if we're going to avoid climate chaos. Before the Zero Carbon Homes policy was scrapped in 2015, we were on track to reduce this 2.7 tonnes to zero in new homes. That wouldn't just have helped the planet - it would have helped people to keep their energy bills down, too. The abolition of the Zero Carbon Homes policy was called "short-sighted, unnecessary, retrograde and damaging." Ed Davey, former secretary of state for energy and climate change suggested the then PM, David Cameron “may as well hug a coal power station”. But we're in a new era now. Politicians across the political spectrum are being forced to admit just how important it is to cut out the carbon. Bringing back the Zero Carbon Homes standard would be a massive step forward, showing the public and the world that the UK Parliament's declaration of a Climate Emergency isn't just empty words.

  • Give Bristolians the Bike Infrastructure They Deserve
Bristol has one of the highest rates or bike usage in the UK, in fact 57,000 walk or cycle to work, the highest in England & Wales. Over a quarter of Bristolians ride a bike at least once a week, let's get those numbers up by improving safety and consideration on the roads. We must ensure there is less traffic wars between cars and bikes by, when it is possible, providing dedicated bike lanes. 80% of Bristolians feel traffic congestion is a major problem, an increased use of bikes would have an immediate effect on car usage, just removing 10% of cars at peak time has a huge effect on traffic flow. In order to meet the Net Zero target for 2030 we should really be pushing to encurage bike uptake. Bicycles are safe, clean, green, convenient and fun, not to mention all the health and social economic benefits, so let's build a city than Bristolians want and so rightly deserve. Thank you, Bristol Citizens

  • Change if epidiolex (cannabis oil) licence
48% of people with epilepsy in the uk have refractory epilepsy (not controlled). This places them at increased risk of death and injury. In the uk deaths from epilepsy have increased 70%. Many people would benefit from a change of licence for epidiolex which has been shown to help in these cases but are been denied it due to current licensing guidelines. Sadly families and individuals are suffering currently due to the current situation.

  • Stop Heinz selling multi-packs wrapped in plastic
I was shopping with my son the other day and we saw that Heinz soups and beans are available as single cans or multi-packs. The multi-packs are wrapped in plastic yet sell for less per individual item. We feel that it is morally wrong that individuals have to make a choice between buying affordable food with a higher plastic footprint or spend more on a product with less packaging. We are asking Heinz to cut stop this wasteful practice now.

  • Trees for Schools
Children are more vulnerable to air pollution than anyone else. In London there are already kids who don't go out on days when pollution levels get too high. Poorer families are more likely to live in highly toxic areas and can't afford to move out, which makes this a social justice issue too. Planting trees outside of our schools is one of the ways we can make a difference. Please help!
