  • Speed bump on Elizabeth Diamond Gardens
We should have speed ramps put down to stop cars speeding onto the street. It's a safety issue for residents and members of the public using the cut through from the main road. As there is no footpath speed ramps would solve the issue.

  • Speed Bumps Implementation
They improve road safety while having a minimal negative effect. Many people claim that bumps on the road can be risky to motorcyclists and bicyclists. In addition, they reduce the overall response time when it comes to delivering emergency services.

  • Prevent accidents , B3092 Milton on Stour : Introduce a speed limit
Many people from the village , and those that use the road, have expressed their concerns and fear of meeting an HGV travelling at speed ,often over the centre line , coming towards them. One of the three recent speed related accidents concerns a lady driving from Gillingham to Mere in her husband's large car. The lady was confronted by an articulated lorry that was in the process of 'jack knifing ' (when the trailer over takes the drivers cab.) The side of the trailer struck and crushed the front of the car. The lady suffered shock and bruising. Had she been driving her own sports car the result would , in all probability ,have had a different out come as her sports car would have gone under trailer.

  • Elon Musk: remove Tommy Robinson and Katie Hopkins from X/Twitter
Since X/Twitter reinstated Tommy Robinson’s biggest social media platform on 6 November 2023, he has wasted no time in whipping up anti-Muslim hate on the site once again. Tommy Robinson is a prominent far-right figure and founder of the English Defence League. In 2018, he was banned from Twitter for violating rules around ‘hateful conduct’ and now has 5 years of hateful content to share. And Katie Hopkins was banned in 2020 after years of anti-migrant hate. Her past statements include calling migrants “cockroaches” and “a plague of feral humans” and describing London Mayor Sadiq Khan as the "Muslim mayor of Londonistan". Blocking the far right’s social media limits their ability to spread the word about their events, fundraisers and hateful rhetoric. After Robinson’s ban from Twitter in 2018 and from Facebook and YouTube in 2019, hundreds of thousands of fewer people saw his content every month. Before his bans Robinson was able to get 10,000 supporters to his rallies, while in 2019 numbers struggled to get beyond a few hundred. We stand against Musk’s decision to give them both a platform to spread hate and misinformation. Do you agree? Add your name today.

  • A reliable rail link between London and Penzance
Cornwall needs good full time well paid employment to enable our children and grandchildren to stay. This will never happen until government and companies invest in the area and a good reliable train link is essential to that investment.

  • Brighter Paths, Safer Steps: Fairlands Valley Park Lighting Petition
Imagine finishing your day's work and wanting to spend some peaceful 20 minutes in the park to unwind, only to be met with pitch-black pathways. To a friend, I’d say this park is part of our community's heartbeat—it's where we connect with nature, unwind from our busy lives, and watch our children play. But half of the year, when the days are shorter, many of us are deprived of this vital community asset. By installing proper lighting, we're not just brightening pathways; we're connecting communities around Fairlands Valley Park, enhancing safety, and extending the park's welcome to every resident, every day. This isn't about luxury; it's about making sure that everyone can feel safe while using our public park. Here is a quick overview of what lighting in Fairlands Valley Park can do for our community: - Accident Prevention: Brighter paths mean no more slipping and tripping which makes our park safe to use for everyone. Especially for those with reduced mobility. - After Hours: Our park doesn't close when the office does. Enjoy after-work relaxation. - Active Travel: The park provides key routes for active travel, walking, cycling and wheeling avoiding busy roads. - Family Friendly: Safer walks for kids after school and for evening activities. - Dog Walkers: Evening strolls with your furry friends, stress-free. - Football Matches: Walk back on well lit paths after an exciting match. - Enjoy Nature: Experience the outdoors all year around. Not just on the weekend. - Community Care: Lighting deters antisocial behaviour, keeping our park welcoming. - Feeling Safe: No more looking over your shoulder or taking detours. Walk, run, and play without worry. - Sustainable: Advocating for wildlife-friendly, energy-efficient solutions. Stevenage Borough Council is currently looking into the issue of lighting in Fairlands Valley Park. I asked them a question at the Council meeting in October 2023 with the request to install lighting to make the park feel safer to use and they have started a review. While the Council acknowledged my concerns, no commitments have been made. What I couldn’t convey to the Council was that the lighting wouldn’t just be for me but that many people would benefit from being able to see where they are going. Adding your name to this petition will help show the Council that there are many more people in Stevenage who would like lighting installed in Fairlands Valley Park.

  • FIREWORKS!
Why do we use fireworks? For celebration, for art? The decibel level of fireworks wreaks havoc, distress and trauma amongst animals and wildlife as well as many sectors of our communities. The noise level is pointless. It's destructive, it's harmful, it's unnecessary. Fireworks can be manufactured without the BANG! They can be made to produce beautiful light shows without danger or distress to anything or anyone. We have a responsibility to our planet and all who inhabit it. The devastation and trauma caused by fireworks is horrendous. This is totally unnecessary. The distress caused to our beloved pets and wildlife is inhumane.

  • Discourage MPs from having second jobs; change their salary into a deductible allowance.
The MP's will not change their behaviour, it will only get worse. They need the public, from all political persuasions and with one voice, to demand change. They are supposed to be serving us!

  • SAVE OUR GREEN SPACE. NO HOUSES ON PRESCOT ROAD FIELDS
This land is extremely important in terms of making up part of the sporting pitch provision and the green space of Widnes. We believe that it must remain so. This land is designated as sporting/recreational Green Space in Halton Borough Council's Local Plan, as such any permission to build a housing estate on it should be refused. We have lost many of our green areas to housing development due to government planning laws. Housing development of this land would have a hugely detrimental impact on people living in Hough Green and the surrounding area. We urge Miller Homes to consider the local community and reconsider their intentions to submit a planning application for housing development on much needed green space. We would urge Halton Borough Council to do everything in their power to stop any part of this designated sporting/recreational/green space land being developed into yet another housing estate, should Miller Homes submit an application. • Stop the allotment fee increase of 143% in Worcester
Petition against the proposed 143% increase of rates (plus extra charge for water) over the next 3 years for allotment plots for Worcester council run sites. Oraganised by Laura Maddock, Droitwich Road allotments site coordinator As tenants of Worcester allotment sites, run by Worcester Council, we all realise that a raise in rent each year is acceptable in line with inflation, the growing cost of water and the increase in general costs. However, we feel the proposed raise in allotment fees proposed over the next 3 years is unjust and unacceptable, for the following reasons; *A 143% increase (excluding the additional fee of £15 per tenant for water) is extortionately high and too much of an increase. taking a full plot from £72 to £175. *An £80,000 spend on admin costs seems an awful lot, especially as this amount is due to rise considerably over the years to come. *Tenants will be priced out of their plots *People on the waiting list are turning down plots as they cannot afford the high price. Therefore, we will have empty plots, and there for the council will lose money. *This increase isn’t in line within any of the allotment fees within the Uk. Even at £72 we are one of the highest in price. *Apart from the ‘106’ money received for fixing up parts of some of the sites no maintenance has been carried out by the council. We have plots that are unable to be let due to the overgrowth of hedges, trees, and weeds. Tenants themselves have had to maintain empty plots in order for them to be let. *On site contractors are not being over seen by the council, thus causing damage and more repair costs. *The National allotment association agrees that it was an extremely high rise in rates. *The council have not communicated with any of the tenants about this proposal. *Our site has many benefits for the community. We have a community garden which provides activities, boosts mental health and wellbeing, and provides free food for the local residents. *We have a wildlife garden which boosts the biodiversity of our city. *We have businesses who volunteer on site, clearing plots and communal areas. The local school visits our site to cover their science and geography topics as well as helping us plant over 100 trees and bulbs to enrich the site. Allotments are such a valuable resource and have such long waiting lists across the country, if Worcester council are allowed to set such a high fee other councils may follow suit and it will price out so many people.
