Jessica Anderson ran the London Marathon trying to beat the world record for the fastest marathon time for a woman wearing a nurse's uniform. Jess, who is a nurse herself, beat the current record - of three hours, eight minutes and 54 seconds - by 22 seconds. This wasn't enough to make her a record breaker though. That's because she did it wearing her medical scrubs - and Guinness World Records said this does not meet its criteria for a nurse's uniform, which must be a dress! It's time to resign these gender-rigid stereotypes to the past.

A traffic survey was apparently performed on Woodbury Avenue in 2011 with an average speed recorded of 29.7mph, so the council refused to do anything stating that it was clearly within parameters. Whilst most people drive below the limit, local residents are witnessing more and more drivers that appear to use the roads as race tracks. With family Halloween and Christmas events held by the Residents of Farm Close becoming ever popular, vehicle traffic increases for a number of weeks and children are required to cross the road at night, often between parked cars. ‘The Glades’ has a play park that can only be accessed by crossing Woodbury Avenue at a risky location directly adjacent to a blind bend. It is not uncommon to hear vehicles braking heavily. East Court is another attraction that requires roads to be crossed to access and yet there isn’t a single recognised crossing point that could be identified as 100% safe for pedestrians. With two schools located close together, the whole estate has suffered with huge surges of traffic for decades and so it’s about time something was done to alleviate some of the safety concerns.

many people are elderly & many people don’t have the luxury of paying nearly £10 per day to pay for tv whilst in hospital. Their days are long & they are often unable to care for themselves & long for a little light entertainment to get them through the day. Watching their favourite soap series may be what they live for. It may be a dying mans last wish to watch his favourite team play a football match. Although Hospedia provide a good service they also charge a phenomenal price to watch the tv. You also pay for tv throughout the night when patients are asleep. I think tv & entertainment should be part of the service as an inpatient, it helps to make people feel better & lifts their spirits. It makes their day a little better.

Amazon's recent use of plastic envelopes seems to an extraordinary decision to make in the wake of concerns about plastic in the oceans and in the landscape. Amazon seem utterly unconcerned by this and appear to have chosen to take the attitude that they are bigger than the environment and have stopped bothering to listen to customers who complain.

For over 17 years Oasis Nursery has been an important feature of Melton. As one of the best performing nurseries in the local area, Ofsted rated it as ‘Outstanding’ in 2015. However, this outstanding Nursery is facing closure due to funding issues. According to the Board of Trustees, there isn’t enough demand to keep the nursery open. If enough of us sign this petition we can demonstrate to the Board that this Nursery is in demand and force them to reconsider closing it. Keeping this Nursery open will provide current children with the stability they deserve. I started this petition because I personally know how important this nursery has been to families in Melton and the surrounding areas. Three of my children went to Oasis, as well as my nieces and nephews. They all received the very best support from this Nursery.

The Post Office in Sidcup High Street is a main part of the community. Nationwide, every week one in four people visits their Post Office and they're a focal point in towns and villages. In Sidcup the current accessible Post Office on the High Street, serves the needs of the whole community. Visit it on any day and at any time and it will be busy. Customers are dealt with speedily and efficiently by trained staff who know how to handle all our post office needs. As a community we are very sad that the current postmaster has decided to retire. He and his family have been serving Sidcup for 27 years. However, as a community we are also extremely concerned that this will leave us without accessible Post Office services when the current Post Office closes on the 28th June this year. There are Post Office services in the Happy Shopper on Station Road but there’s no way they can accommodate the volume of people that are currently using the High Street Post Office. There’s not enough staff or room to queue and the Happy Shopper is not accessible, there's a step to get into the shop and the doorway is narrow. We have been told the Post Office is committed to finding a new Postmaster and High Street location but that they don't seem to be doing much about it. We are calling on the Post Office to actively search for a new Postmaster and accessible High Street location for Sidcup Post Office and we are calling on our MP James Brokenshire to support us.

All residents in mobile park homes, caravan and motorhome owners and people living in rural areas have to pay inflated prices for the supply of these gas bottled. During winter months, this cost puts a huge financial strain on all residents in residential park retirement homes (mostly retired )and users. The cost of electricity is regulated but not bottled gas, so its time this was regulated as well. If it can be done in Spain then why not here.

The child maintenance service is failing children in the UK. Loopholes are allowing parents to avoid paying child maintenance, even when they can afford it. The way that child maintenance rates are calculated is leaving children in poverty. Families are being left waiting for months without any support while they wait for applications to be processed. I use the child maintenance service, and I’ve started this petition because I want the government to fix the system to make sure that all children can get the support they need. I’m calling on the government to: - Put provisions in place to make sure that no matter the circumstance, children receive the support they need. - Reduce the waiting times so that parents are not left for weeks on end without enough money to support their children. - Close loopholes that allow parents who can afford child maintenance to avoid paying.

The Stadium at Elm Avenue should not be destroyed by property development as it is an sports area of rich historic significance for the people of Newark. In the past, the land has been passed over to local government ownership with a view to it remaining as a sports area for local people. There is little free-access or low-cost sports space in this town and this precious yet currently underused space is in demand. There are football teams and other local people who are keen to use this space but it has been governed in such a way that they could not afford to use it and so it has little use at present. This is a terrible shame as we need to encourage more grass-roots sport. If the Stadium space is built on, the local people will lose yet another area of green. As Newark is an area low social mobility and multiple studies have shown links between access to green-space and economic well-being, the local government should be doing everything in its power to protect any remaining green-space. In addition green areas are needed now more than ever to mitigate against climate change. Instead of removing urban green space, we need to protect and improve it, for example by adding further trees to the entrance to the site and thereby supplementing the few that exist already. Help us to first protect and then maintain this urban green area for current and future generations of Newark to enjoy.

James Peacock School in Ruddington is proposing to make a significant number of its most experienced and highly-qualified teaching assistants redundant. The head teacher claims that cuts are needed to save money but there are other ways to solve the problem. Nevertheless, the School’s governors are being asked to approve damaging plans to target teaching assistants. Making teaching assistants redundant will cause long-lasting harm to children, to the school and to the Ruddington community. Those whose jobs are at risk have firm roots in the village and are well-known to children and parents having worked in the school for many years. Teaching assistants provide vital support, supporting teachers in managing class behaviour as well as ensuring children with special needs receive additional care and attention. Reducing the number of teaching assistants would deprive children of support and restrict teachers' ability to teach effectively. Not only are there other ways of balancing the School’s books, but it is likely that schools funding will increase over the next year. The government schools minister for England, Nick Gibb, has said that school funding will be a priority for the autumn spending review. Now is not the time to get rid of teaching assistants who are indispensable for the children and teachers of James Peacock.

Survivors of rape and sexual assault are being forced to hand over their phones and social media accounts to the police - or risk their attackers walking free. Instead of making sure victims and survivors are safe and supported, police want to pick apart years of text messages, photos and personal memories - making survivors feel as if they're the ones on trial. Key digital evidence could be given to police and disclosed in court without excessive phone downloads being taken that risk being used for fishing expeditions into victims' pasts. One woman has said: "My phone documents many of the most personal moments in my life and the thought of strangers combing through it, to try to use it against me, makes me feel like I'm being violated once again." The NPCC and CPS are already facing a backlash against the plans. If thousands of us sign this petition and add our voices, we can make sure they backtrack.
