Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust plan to sell the Brighton General Hospital and develop a new Community Health Hub. Brighton General Hospital Action Group believe that this public land must remain a public asset for the people of Brighton and Hove.We believe that this site redevelopment offers the opportunity to address some of the much needed, and urgent, health, social care and housing needs in the city and are concerned that current proposals are inadequate.

Polystyrene is toxic and non-biodegradable, so can take hundreds of years to degrade, while alternatives such as cardboard or bamboo can disappear rapidly and pose no risk to health. It is infuriating to know the potential health issues associated with this material, whilst also having to dispose of the packaging from takeaway food knowing that it will end up in a land fill, the ocean or washed up on a beach. The US has taken the lead on this and many cities have already partially or completely banned the use of polystyrene. Reasons for the proposed ban include: 1, It does not biodegrade. It may break into small pieces but the smaller polystyrene gets, the harder it is to clean up. 2, It is made of fossil fuels and synthetic chemicals. Those chemicals may leach if they come in contact with hot, greasy or acidic food. Yes, they keep your takeaway food hot, but they may add an unwanted dose of toxins to your body. Styrene is used to make polystyrene plastic and is a contaminant in all polystyrene packaging. A 1988 survey, published by the Foundation for Advancements in Science and Education found styrene in human fatty tissue with a frequency of 100% at levels from 8 to 350 nanograms per gram. This amount is one-third of the level known to cause neurotoxic symptoms in humans. Styrene attacks the central and peripheral nervous systems and the accumulation of this material in the tissues of the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves is correlated with acute or chronic functional impairment of the nervous system. 3, Animals can also eat it. Turtles and fish seem to mistake polystyrene for food, and that can kill them. Not only can they not digest it, but the foam could be full of poisons that it has absorbed from contaminants floating in the water. 4, It can’t be recycled. Some commercial mailing houses may accept packing peanuts, but for the most part recycling centers do not accept throwaway polystyrene food containers. Bristol is an example of a city that does not have the capacity to recycle polystyrene currently

Vale View Primary School, Mill Lane in Reddish have taken the difficult and drastic decision to close the school at 12:45 on Friday afternoons. This means children will have to go home early, or if parents are working they will have to pay for childcare at the school or make other arrangements. Chair of Governors - Frederick Van Deursen - stated in a recent letter to parents that ‘current costs are not sustainable’ and the school ‘face significant deficit if we do not take action.’ Although we recognise the dire financial situation Vale View Primary is in and there is no proposed change to how much time the children get with teachers. We the undersigned ask the school to work with the wider community to find an alternative solution to ease the funding issues. We ask that the school remains open for 5 days a week 9:00-15:15. Early closing on a Friday presents a number of issues for many parents and children at the school and the wider community. Not only does this disrupt the children's routine, but it also creates issues for working parents and those with caring responsibilities. We acknowledge that the contact time for children will be the same, it is the disruption to local families and community that is at the heart of the problem. This change in hours is just not acceptable to us and we urge the Governors to reconsider. We believe the school has found a local solution for a national problem. Their budget issues have been created by a lack of funding from central Government. 91% of schools across the country are affected and are facing real terms funding cuts of £2.5bn. 90 out of 96 schools in Stockport face cuts with a total, real terms loss of £6.4m which equates to £169 per pupil. Accepting this change in the school week will potentially create issues for all schools in the future. If schools continue to show that they can manage the chronic underfunding in this way, then the Government will assume schools can cope with the current real terms cuts and any further cuts in the future. We need to be strong as a community and help the school find other ways to manage the shortfall so that we don’t pave the way for 4 ½ day week to become a normality for UK school children. We the undersigned, commit to working with Vale View Primary to secure more funding for our school and all schools.

Pauline and I have been together for 3½ years and happily married for 16 months. Pauline, a Jamaican national, has lived in the UK for over 17 years under a series of home office approvals. All her family are here with settled status. Pauline has British grandmothers and her grandfather fought with the Royal Navy in World War 2. A cheerful and likeable person who always puts others first, Pauline has contributed positively to British society, including previously as a qualified carer for the elderly. Voluntary care she has provided has allowed my aunt to continue living in her own home following a serious car accident. Our application for a spouse visa was refused in September 2017 despite meeting all the eligibility criteria and Pauline was immediately taken to Yarls Wood Immigration Removal Centre. She was held there for 24 days until we managed to secure bail with help from the charity Bail for Immigration Detainees (BID). Just 3 weeks beforehand the Home Office had given us the go ahead to get married! The matter has been front page news in the local press (first “Shrewsbury bride’s hopes dashed” and then “Wife loses battle to stay in UK"). We were finally able to get married a week after Pauline’s bail. Pauline was subject to serious abuse as a child and has been diagnosed with some debilitating mental health conditions though she always puts on a positive face. Whilst in detention she lost 1½ stone and was placed on suicide watch. The G4S medical team did nothing. Our solicitor submitted a further human rights application which was recently refused and Pauline was told to immediately leave the UK or face severe punishment. They said no new information had been submitted and there was nothing to stop us from living together in Jamaica, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Their decision relied on a previous decision more than 5 years out of date. It completely ignored clear advice from NHS professionals and the fact that my specialist work helps add millions to the regional economy! Our solicitor immediately recommended a Judicial Review. Pauline's GP is so concerned at her poor treatment that she has referred the matter to the British Medical Council. Dozens of people are being profoundly affected, including vulnerable children and adults. As the wife of a British citizen Pauline in theory meets all the requirements for a spouse application submitted from Jamaica but like her previous applications this could take another 16 months to determine with no guarantee of success. Given her current condition I doubt she would last a single day in Jamaica, isolated and cut off from her home and loving family. Is this the way to treat someone with the potential to make such a positive contribution to the UK? Immigration rules must be interpreted with flexibility and compassion. Forcing Pauline out of the country and potentially destroying so many innocent lives is a very severe punishment for someone who has committed no real crime. It has absolutely no regard to human rights. We call on the Home Office to stop interfering with the lives of the thousands of normal people targeted by the indiscriminate hostile environment policy and to reverse this cruel and inhumane decision.

Renters in Scotland are suffering. Across the country, sky-high rents are forcing people into poverty and far too many tenants are living in slum-like conditions. We used to have rent controls to protect people from exactly this situation - until Thatcher scrapped them in the 80s - and now it’s time to bring them back. In 2016, the Scottish Government brought in so-called “Rent Pressure Zones” to try to tackle high rents, but these have failed. No council has been able to use them, and the evidence suggests it wouldn’t help even if they did. Now we need to bring in proper, nationwide rent controls. Oakfield House is a proposed open rehabilitation unit will provide a safe and nurturing environment for local males and females with complex and often enduring mental illness and learning disabilities who may have stepped down from secure services or other rehabilitation services. These facilities are essential for allowing people the space and support they need to recover from mental illness.

Closing Wellingborough Test Centre will increase the lead times at other test centres, especially Northampton. STOP - THE INCREASE IN CONGESTION AND EMISSIONS IN AND AROUND NORTHAMPTON AND KETTERING. Extra 1500 test each year. More cars going up and down our roads too and from. More cars running around the other towns. STOP - THE INCREASED COSTS TO LEARNER DRIVERS AND PARENTS(up to 2x). Lesson times around wellingborough can be 1 hr long. Lesson times will have to be at least 1.5 hrs due to increased distance. STOP - THE INCREASED HASSLE FACTOR FOR LOCAL PEOPLE AND DRIVING INSTRUCTORS. Wellingborough Instructors have a great working relationship with the wellingborough DVSA examiners - they are a good bunch. Driving tests from Glamis Hall simply work for all parties. This directly affects more than 40 local Driving Instructors who live and work in and around Wellingborough. THIS MAKES NO SENSE GIVEN WELLINGBOROUGH’S CURRENT AND FUTURE GROWTH IN HOUSING Wellingborough is growing massively with Stanton Cross(3500 new homes) and Glenvale Park off niort way(3000 new Homes) The Wellingborough Test Centre is heavily oversubscribed - The DVSA were talking of increasing capacity.- now no capacity.

Many UK constituents voted for their MPs because they represented the political party that they support. MPs who have left their party should respect their constituents by offering to stand in a by-election. This will prove that they are still driven entirely by the desire to fairly represent the wishes of the majority in their constituency, and not by their own agendas

We as a team have worked in house for the hospital some for over 25yrs. We work hard to meet the standards of cleanliness that is required. Not only that we have a repour with the staff throughout the hospital. Doctors, Nursing and HCA trust us and our ability to do our jobs to the highest of standards. It's our lively hood and we think it's only fair that we have the right to fight for our jobs to stay in house.

If nothing is done then someone is going to get hurt! The pedestrian crossing on the Weymouth Way at Southill was installed for a very good reason, that being the road is too dangerous to cross without it. Prior to the crossing being installed you quite literally took your life in your hands as you made a quick dash across the roundabout approach roads. Those with mobility issues or young children were faced with an even greater risk. Weeks ago a minor gas leak was detected close to the crossing and the crossing has been barricaded to prevent it being used. We have since been told it's a complicated leak and may take some time to repair, but we don't know if that's to be measured in weeks, months or even years. So we are back to making a dash for it across the roundabout as before, a situation that was considered too dangerous and the reason the crossing was installed. If the situation was having a negative impact on drivers I am sure some form of temporary lights would have been installed, but as it only affects pedestrians then nothing happens. Signs have been erected asking drivers to take care as pedestrians may be crossing the road, but I can confirm that most drivers are ignoring the signs. I was nearly hit by a speeding car as, rather than slowing slightly to give me more time to finish crossing, the driver thought it best to accelerate and blare the horn. So the question is why can't temporary crossing lights be installed until such times as the gas main is repaired?

This month, 56 desperately needed social rented homes are due to be sold-off at auction by housing associations, so called 'social landlords'. 15 being sold by Housing association, Peabody, including 17 Robinson Road, a refurbished 2-bedroom home in Bethnal Green, with a reserve price of £730,000. Right now, there are 4,500 people on the Tower Hamlets waiting list for a home like this. They're the people Peabody are supposed to help. Last year, Peabody made a profit of £175 million, while paying their Chief Executive £278,750.

My family and I are running out of time and we don't know where to ask for help. My case has been on going for three years now and I am scared of their unchanging views because it means for me to be separated from my family again. My dad has been working here in the UK for almost fourteen years where ten years he was apart from us. My mom, sister, brother and I came here in 2015 to be together with my dad. Then, we had to renew our visas last 2016. We did our biometrics together but for some reason mine was a late submission and that's where it all started to crumble. We were put in a situation where we don't have anything to show for and we have been in two firms, one of which is still representing me but I am starting to lose faith. Multiple Administrative and Judicial reviews have been sought out but their decision was maintained.This battle has drained us financially and emotionally and we are running out of options. I hope we had better knowledge of what we should have done and trusted the right people, maybe it wouldn't have come to this. We are seeking any kind of help. I don't want to leave United Kingdom as it is my dream to be here ever since I was a child. This is where we belong. If I were to be given another chance, I will work harder and earn the right to prove myself. My home is where my family are and I don't want to be taken away from my home.
