Save jobs at Cammell LairdsCammell Lairds has just won £619M worth of contracts to maintain the Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) Ships, but in stead of reassuring their workforce, they have decided to propose 291 redundancies with the first taking place, just weeks before Christmas. We need to be Turning the tide on Casualisation, we believe it is not acceptable that companies like Peel Ports who have a controlling stake in Cammell Lairds, can take such aggressive steps to maximize profits.5,251 of 6,000 SignaturesCreated by Ross Quinn

Portrait for £50 Note 2020Noor Imyat Khan gave her life for the cause of freedom in this Nation‘s war to overthrow the Nazi Regime. Ms Noor served in the WRAF (Women‘s Royal Auxiliary Air Force) before transferring to the top secret Special Operstions Executuve set up by Winston Churchill, then as part of SOE was airdropped into France and organized and ran Churchill‘s network of resistance communication in Paris. Ms Noor was betrayed, and after suffering starvation and torture by the Gestapo in Dachau concentration camp, was executed by firing squad by the Nazi SS in 1944. Ms Khan was posthumously awarded the George Cross by King George VI in 1949. Here is proof of the inclusivity within Britain of the Muslim community. Ms Noor was also the first female radio operator sent into Nazi-occupied France in 1943. She was 29. Here is an opportunity to recognize the United Kingdom‘s inclusivity and its belief in democratic freedom. I respectfully invite likeminded members of the public to sign this Petition to the Bank of England.9 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Kenneth Webb

Ask New Covent Garden Soup to stop using plastic in their packagingOur use of plastic is unsustainable and we are killing our planet. Let's not change plastic-free packaging to plastic-containing at the very time we can change our world for the better.100 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Michelle Hiscutt

Support Taunton runners who say no, to plastic bottles!Alongside 650 others, I ran the Taunton DLO 10K on 30th September. I was disappointed to discover that the halfway drinks station was handing out plastic bottles of water, the majority of which were slung over the next few hundred metres. An estimated 1,300 single use plastic bottles were generated at this event. Even more were handed out at the Marathon and Half Marathon event in April. This is just unnecessary plastic waste generation that can easily be replaced by more environmentally-friendly alternatives, such as using paper cups at the drinks stations. Cutting out single use plastic bottles at such events is important as it would demonstrate the council’s leadership and responsibility in reducing plastic waste locally. It would show the council's commitment to honouring the Somerset-wide "Pledge against Preventable Plastics" taken on World Environment Day. Please sign this petition, endorsed by Taunton Transition Town, for a more sustainable and plastic-free future locally!1,066 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by David Blake

Protect A'Mhoire environment from the proposed space port. This area contains a large SSSI, a special Landscape area and one of the largest blanket bogs in the world helping to reduce global warming (by sequestering carbon). The exact location proposed seems very vague, but this cannot be good for such an important environment. Most mentions of the plan do not show the exact proposed location and do not mention the important & fragile environments in the area.72 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Hilary Gee

Reinstate the Remembrance Day Parade in SaltashSaltash annual Remembrance Day Parade has been dropped because officials "didn't want children to go hungry or get cold". The Mayor said the parade would have had to have been squeezed in late afternoon - which wouldn't have been fair on families. I believe it is important for the parade to go ahead so the people of Saltash can remember everyone who gave their lives. We need to teach our children our history and show them why we honour these brave individuals. The Mayor is already under pressure in national newspapers. If thousands of people sign the petition now, he could change his mind and let the parade go ahead.2,288 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Thomas Stapleton-Yabsley

Stop the BBC from giving airtime to organisations whose funding is kept secret. Many groups and individuals, often those who refuse to give the source of their funding, are allowed to air opinions on BBC news and current affairs programmes. They are rarely asked the source of their funding. At the same time millions are being raised in the USA to fund British rightwing think tanks who are frequently asked by the BBC for their opinions. As a result we, as the audience, can never know whose opinions are being represented. This undermines fair access to information, a cornerstone of a healthy democracy.109 of 200 SignaturesCreated by John Ingham

Don’t sell Manchester United to the Crown Prince of Saudi ArabiaCrown Prince Mohammad, the second most powerful person in Saudi Arabia, is considering buying Manchester United. Right now, the Prince is coming under fire after a journalist who was critical of him "disappeared". The journalist, Jamal Khashoggi, went missing from the Saudi consulate in Istanbul two weeks ago. Saudi Arabia is currently denying any involvement but countries around the world are calling for an investigation. The Prince shouldn't be allowed to buy the club while there's such a serious allegation hanging over his head. Manchester United belongs to its fans and players. It is the most successful club in England’s history and has produced stars such as George Best and Ryan Giggs. It shouldn’t be owned by rich rulers who just want to use it to boost their reputation.1,490 of 2,000 Signatures

Ban smoking when drivingIt is dangerous to smoke whilst driving, as it not only endangers the driver, but other road users. Currently, the law outlaws smoking if the vehicle is a work vehicle, as it is an extension of the workplace, but this does not go far enough and ban drivers from smoking in their own vehicles too.10 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Dave Reardon

Traffic lights in Newton-le-WillowsI live on the Wargrave estate which is hemmed in by three Railway Bridges, the only way out is via Park Road, Vulcan Village and Wargrave Road bridges. The road out through the Vulcan is very narrow and the bridge there is very narrow with bad visibility. Also with all the extra houses that are being built on the Vulcan Site there is a lot more traffic. The money to provide these lights is already there from the developer of the old Vulcan site and is available until 2021. Please take action now and install the traffic lights.211 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Alan Maines
