28-8-2018 - The QE2 Bridge was closed from 2.20pm and not fully re-opened until 6am the following morning. During this time, local people and people from further afield were held up in hours and hours of delays with completely grid-locked traffic. This is becoming more frequent as the area gets busier and more development takes place. There must be plans in place to stop total and utter gridlock to our area. This not only disrupts local residents, it is detrimental to all the business who operate out of this area. So many hours are lost due to sitting in un-necessary traffic jams! SOMETHING MUST BE DONE!!!

In your response to the Taylor Review of Modern Working Practices, ‘Good Work’, you rightly stated that it is important that everyone “has the ability to … earn a living to support them and their family”. We therefore hope that you will agree with us that it is outrageous that staff within your Department who keep it safe every day, clean the office, deliver the post and serve food are on poverty wages. For example, it is neither safe nor acceptable that to feed their families, security staff must work a minimum of 60 hours a week. This is at the same time as being on the front line of keeping a Whitehall Department safe. You will know that the Prime Minister has promised the “greatest extension of rights and protections for employees by any Conservative government in history”. We hope that you agree with the PM that this should extend to those working for the government and in government buildings, including your own. As you will be aware, many Departments already pay a proper liveable wage, including HM Treasury, the Department for Work and Pensions, Department for International Trade and Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. In fact, this is something your staff (from the former Department of Energy and Climate Change) fought for, won, and are rightly proud of. In addition, the Houses of Parliament, where you have a Parliamentary office, is also a Living Wage Foundation employer and so those staff that clean one of your offices are paid a liveable wage, while those that help run your Department are not. I am sure you agree this cannot be right or just. Back in 2016 the Trade Unions sought to engage positively with your Permanent Secretary, Alex Chisholm. Despite initial early indications of a positive approach, including confirmation that increases in pay were both affordable and within the Department’s gift, the Unions have at best been met with intransigence and indifference since then. We hope that given your commitment in the Industrial Strategy to be personally responsible for “improving the quality of work”, you will agree with us that when it comes to people’s livelihoods and ability to look after their families this attitude is not acceptable. We, the undersigned, are now calling on you to intervene and commit to paying at least the London Living Wage to all your support staff, and to holding proper discussions with the Trade Unions on their terms and conditions.

The Fife Health and Social Care Partnership want to close the Primary Care Emergency Service (GP out of hours) run from St. Andrews Hospital. They propose to move the service to Kirkcaldy. . Local GPs say that the proposed new service represents an unacceptable loss of local service that will threaten patient safety and impact most profoundly on our elderly patients and on families with children. As a result of the distance involved in having to travel to Kirkcaldy to access services, North East Fife patients will be the most significantly affected by these proposed changes. In addition our community hospitals and palliative care units will be left without local medical cover during the out of hours period. Please stand up for our local health service by signing this petition. --- This petition has been started by a politician - 38 Degrees is independent of all political parties.

The secruity of Britain relies on both a strong navy capability and a strong economy. To achieve a strong economy in Northern Devon we need to protect the jobs at Appledore Shipbuilders and continue to develop the high skills economy that is required for modern shipbuilding. The opening up of the competition to build the Type 31e to include overseas shipbuilders could lead to the diminishing of Britain's capability to provide for her own security needs. As a naval warship it is vital that we retain the skills needed to build and maintain the vessels within Britain, both during peace time and at times of conflict.

For as long as anyone can remember, there has been an hourly service between Dursley and Gloucester. Bus operator Stagecoach says they lose £80,000 a year on this route and are reducing this service to every two hours. We want GCC to find a way to restore this service, which a local resident calls 'a lifeline', by exploring other options, e.g. subsidies, community transport, another bus provider. Otherwise, these cuts will be devastating for: Workers and students: will need to leave an hour earlier to get to work or college and wait an hour later to return. For example, some will need to get a 6.38 bus as the next bus at 8.38 is too late. Cam Rail Station: will no longer have an hourly bus service to the station and commuters may be forced to drive, increasing pressure on parking. Hospital patients: will no longer have a timely way to make appointments at hospitals in Gloucester and Dursley. Mental health service users: will now be forced to arrive an hour before their centres open; cafes and shops will not be open when they arrive. Businesses: fewer shoppers coming into Dursley and Gloucester. Rural communities: Berkeley will be impacted by no longer having a direct route to their nearest city, Gloucester. The environment: more people will be using cars to make journeys that they could once do by bus. GCC's Local Transport Plan says they will: "work with transport providers to provide an appropriate level of service throughout the day, evening and at weekends to link communities with employment, education, health services, retail centres and enable connectivity between bus and rail services". We call on GCC to restore this service and honour this plan.

The safety of 15,000 participants is at risk as well as potential lost income associated from the businesses who have the foresight to make the most of the event.

Air pollution affects us all, from when we are in the womb through to old age. It is linked to premature births and can stunt lung growth in children. Air pollution can trigger heart attacks and strokes, worsens asthma attacks and causes lung cancer. Babies, children and older people are more vulnerable to the impacts of air pollution. We need the Council, with the support of national government, to take urgent action to clean up our air to protect the health of children and babies.

We the undersigned object to the closure of the sexual health clinic in Sydenham Green Health Centre We believe this will mean difficulties because of the extra travel distance, increased cost and inconvenience for users of the clinic who are predominantly local and many under 25yrs.Users may have caring responsibilities, a limit on the time they have to attend due to work and family commitments and accessing public transport can be very demanding if not impossible for these users, especially in winter. Lower socio –economic groups will be disadvantaged by these changes as will the groups mentioned below. According to the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust the target groups for this service are quote” young people, men who have sex with men, black and minority ethnic groups and the vulnerable within the community. This is an outrageous attack on such groups in our community. Making potential users travel further may deter them from attending altogether. The clinic at Sydenham Green provides free contraceptives for young people. The impact of the closure may be a rise in untreated STI’s and unwanted pregnancies. The closure of Sydenham Green will also have an impact on the sexual health clinics in the other areas expected to take up the shortfall increasing the workload of the Waldron, Hawstead Road and Downham clinics. Waiting times will then increase at these clinics. The increased use of on line testing moves away from the confidentiality essential to users of these services and putting off users is a false economy which will not ultimately save the NHS money. This is primarily a cost saving exercise by the CCG .We ask for adequate budgets and resources and a reversal of this decision. The CCG website states ”We do all we can to ensure that local people get the most accessible services possible”. We do not agree.

The people of Thanet, demand that the land located at Hartsdown Park be allocated to the existing tenants in situ, allowing them to continue to enjoy uninterrupted use of their premises. The community units are to be retained, allowing each tenant the opportunity to purchase their areas either individually or as a collective, ensuring that all community projects currently sited are allowed to continue to serve the community.

Parents children and adults awaiting an autistic or other special needs assessment are left with little or no support until such assessments are carried out. Even when a diagnosis is made which is very often a battle in itself the support is very often inadequate and many many parents are made to feel at fault by professionals who seem not to listen to the concerns and experiences of parents which sometimes can bring families under the scunity of child social services Parents feel isolated and helpless and most importantly those needing support dont recieve the help they so desperately need.
