LGBTQ issues to be taught on the U.K. high school curriculumAs a homosexual male, most of my high school career was spent being bullied for something that I hadn't come to terms with yet. It was never explained in school the difference between acknowledging that you're gay and accepting it. I remember this was never taught in class. But why does it matter? A report for Stonewall, found that nine in ten secondary school teachers say students in their schools are bullied, harassed or called names for being – or perceived to be – lesbian, gay or bi13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Daniel Griffiths

Keep Rydon Out Of Our HospitalThe Whittington Hospital Board have decided to appoint Ryhurst, a subsidary of Rydon, to co-ordinate and manage the proposed Estates Strategy. This is the company that refurbished Grenfell Tower, prior to the devastating and tragic fire, and more locally the Chalcots Estate. There has been no community consultation regarding this irresponsible, insensitive and crass decision to appoint Ryhurst. We do not want to see parts of the Whittington Estate, covering community and in-patient health care across Haringey and Islington, sold off. Ryhurst will be entitled to share the proceeds with the hospital - to pocket OUR health funds, paid out of OUR health taxes. Staff could lose jobs and health service provision could be cut.1,186 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by jem jem

Save Our BeachThere has been public access to this popular local bathing spot for generations. Now the council want to sell the former youth hostel and surrounding land, including the beach and grassy areas, for private development. We feel that this area is an important community asset much loved by locals and visitors alike, and that public access to the riverside area must be preserved in perpetuity for future generations.1,214 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Richard Watson

Longdendale Parents Bus Service CampaignSince the beginning of this school year, the existing service (the 835) had been over crowded beyond legal capacity. When this was reported the buses started shutting their doors or driving past children when they were full, leaving the children stranded and unsafe. The imposed solution by Longdendale High School and Transport for Greater Manchester that these children should use public transport is unacceptable. The roads and traffic volumes are unsafe, there is no appropriate safe guarding and the buses do not run at convenient times. Many of the children, some age eleven and just starting high school, simply do not possess the skills or confidence to negotiate busy main roads, public transport and issues with other bus travellers effectively or safely. The imposed solution was taken without any consultation with parents, despite multiple complaints to the school and Transport for Greater Manchester. It does not take into account the safeguarding of our children, and is failing to provide an effective community service as is a contractual obligation.155 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Maria Hourigan

Ban the Sale of Fireworks to the PublicFireworks are a blight on all peoples lives as well as our animal kingdom. They are too loud and cause great destruction killing or maiming animals and humans. Also the loud decibels of the fireworks has a detrimental affect on those that have served us and have PTSD with being in war-zones as it reminds them of bombs etc going off. There are also idiots setting them off causing mayhem and cruelty to animals and other humans hence another reason to stop the sale of PUBLIC FIREWORKS!!229 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Sharon Robertson

Appoint more women, BAME and non-finance sector candidates to the Bank of England's senior positionsThe Bank of England's policy making committees make decisions which have a huge impact on everyone in Britain, yet their members come from a narrow range of backgrounds. Over the last decade, the Bank’s policies have disproportionately benefited the wealthiest in society, while doing very little for the rest of us. [1] Unless its most powerful committees are representative of society as a whole, they won’t fully understand how every community is affected by their decisions. 75% of those on the Monetary Policy Committee, which is in charge of setting interest rates and policy such as quantitative easing, were working in the City or for large companies before taking up their post. There are no members with recent experience working on behalf of the interests of the rest of society, such as in trade unions or civil society organisations. And out of the 23 members on the Bank’s most important committees, only two are female, and BAME communities are underrepresented. Appointments to the Bank’s most senior positions are made by the Chancellor. We support Chair of the Treasury Select Committee, Nicky Morgan MP's recent call for Philip Hammond to seek out and appoint a more diverse range of candidates. ----- [1] Researchers at civil society organisations like Positive Money have shown that quantitative easing and low interest rates - the Bank of England’s main policy responses to the crash - have benefited the richest households by almost 200 times as much as the poorest. Save Farnborough Road children's centreSefton Council are planning on closing Farnborough Road children’s centre along with others in the area. The children's centres will be merged into a smaller number of family centres, but this will mean huge cuts to the services children’s centres provide. It is so important to families with young children to have somewhere local to go to. For the parents and children to make friends and have someone to speak to if they need to. The local children's centre provides amazing classes for learning and experiences for babies to pre school children. They are easily accessible and should be kept that way.482 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Michelle Davies

Stop the sale of The King's Regimental SilverIt is important that this Silver is kept as it represents the history of a regiment of the british army which has served with distinction in all theatres of battle. It should also be kept as the regiment has served the cities of Liverpool and Manchester and are ingrained in the cities history's. If you are a true veteran of The King's Regiment you will sign this petition without thinking what others will say. It is your history your father's history your grandfather's history and in my case my Great Grandfather's History and the reason I joined the regiment. The Silver in question should be shared out to Regimental Association's and Regimental Museums within the relivent cities museum's so it can be displayed. If this can't be done it should be stored until a place can be found for it to be displayed. Please sign this petition.348 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Keith Page

Don't give G4S & Serco the power to arrestIn a shocking 290m privatisation deal, Serco and G4S – the same two companies who were stripped of contracts for tagging prisoners because a Serious Fraud Office investigation revealed they were charging for tagging people who didn’t exist – are going to be trusted with the handcuffs by the government. Essentially, the proposals would see G4S staff given the powers of Civilian Enforcement Officers. That is, authorised officers/employees of Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service becoming vested with the power to seize and sell goods to recover money owed under fines and community penalty notices, and to execute warrants of arrest, committal, detention and distraint. The sticking point here is that although much of the recovery and enforcement arms of the Court service has long been outsourced to ‘Authorised’ Enforcement Officers (employees of various other private companies), the line has until now been drawn at outsourcing the power of arrest. No more.222,817 of 300,000 SignaturesCreated by Suzi Glantz

GAINSBOROUGH NEEDS AMBULANCES - STOP THE CUTSPlanned changes will leave Gainsborough ambulance station with only one ambulance. East midlands ambulance service wants to move Gainsborough's ambulances to bigger towns like Lincoln and Newmark. A town of 20,000 people can’t have just one ambulance. Waiting times for ambulances are already high and there have been numerous stories about accidents and problems arising from the shortage of ambulances. We believe this will leave the residents of Gainsborough and West Lindsey with an inadequate service that will put lives at risk.1,254 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Matt Boles

Policy for disable parking outside residental propertiesHello everyone my name is Samantha, I am currently 30 years old and I live at home with mum and dad. As you can see from my photo I am in a wheelchair, I was wondering if you can help me out. My mum and career Hannah have started this petition to help me but not only myself but other people like me having the same problem that live in the county borough. As it stands at the moment there is no policy in place that allows the council to put disabled parking bays outside residential properties and I want to change that if I can in any way possible. As it stands at the moment we are struggling to park my car on many occasions outside my home, this may not seem a big thing to you but to myself and other disabled people it is. We have a sign outside our home saying that there's a disabled person living here but that doesn't stop them. If this policy got put into place and I had a disabled parking space situated outside the house it would mean the world to me. As I love going out in my car but at the moment I cant go out later on in the evening, a Saturday afternoon or any time at all on a Sunday, which being able to go out more and do more stuff than what I can do now. I hope that I am able to get as many signatures as possible to change this sooner rather than later. I hope you can all sign and share this cause one signature can make all the difference, thank you.173 of 200 SignaturesCreated by fay evans

Save the Dolphin Public HouseIt is important because this building remains in daily use by both villagers and visitors. The Dolphin public house forms an integral part of village life and without this facility a key social meeting place for both younger and older generations would be lost. It should be acknowledged that Stoke Hammond has already had an exceptional percentage of new properties built and is already over it’s recommended quota identified by the local authority. To allow this significant building to be demolished and replaced with more dwellings would be against the wishes of the local community.193 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Galena Paganus
