• No to New Parking Restrictions for Residents/local Businesses by Tower Hamlets Council
*No to New Parking Restrictions & Cost for Residents and Local Businesses (by Tower Hamlets Council and its Mayor)* We, the undersigned, oppose and demand a full and proper consultation with residents and stakeholders about the dramatic parking changes proposed by Tower Hamlets Council to bring in parking restriction starting with B2 surrounding areas. If not challenged, this proposal will mean that residents will lose out in yet another money-making exercise by the Council at a time when the Mayor of Tower Hamlets and his Cabinet have given themselves huge pay increases. The Mayor gave himself 11.7% salary increase while residents had 9% increase in their Council Tax since 2016 as well as rates increases for local businesses. We fear that if not opposed, this money-making proposal will gradually spread across the borough. *The Council document titled “Proposed Operational Hours” is flawed and inconsiderate because:* 1) it fails to provide residents with a legitimate option to choose ‘keep parking restriction as is’ in the Council’s list of provided options to choose from. 2) being sent during school holidays when many families might be away. 3) will stop families, friends, relatives and others from visiting their loved ones. It will disproportionately affect families with caring responsibilities and those with extended families. 4) increase the cost of scratch cards. 5) will increase the cost and hassle for local businesses in the borough - some of these businesses have been slapped with astonishing rates increases from £600 sqm to £1000 sqm, instead of finding ways to help these businesses, Mayor-run Tower Hamlets Council is forcing extortionate parking times. *The options - in the council document sent to residents - are:* • Option 1: Monday - Saturday 7.30am to 10pm and Sunday 11am to 4pm • Option 2: Monday - Saturday 8.30am to 10pm and Sunday 10am to 10pm • Option 3: Monday - Sunday 8.30am to 10pm (Note: there is no option to keep the parking restrictions as is) Given the huge pace of development, over-built areas, parking and congestion issues in Tower Hamlets, the Mayor and the Council must do everything possible to restrict developers to have in-built underground parking spaces within the development, as well as providing a combination of other sustainable options instead of penalising residents and local businesses at a time when the Council is spending nearly £50m on consultants, IT upgrades, transformation and other unnecessary measures while residents' services are being slashed and huge salary increases are being given to the Mayor and his Cabinet. • Calling for an independent inquiry into the Hope & Glory Festival fiasco
The Hope & Glory Festival was supposed to be the jewel in Liverpool's strong music scene crown. However it was a fiasco from the word go. The site was unfinished, it was positioned in such an area that the entire site population was forced to move between a narrow gateway in which people were crushed trying to move about the site. The bands ran late, with some cancelled. Their sets were cut to the point the main act could only perform 8 songs. The stages were unfinished with electrical problems. Speakers had not been secured causing one band member to almost fall into the crowd. The toilets were overflowing by 4pm with no procedure in place to empty them. This presented a health hazard as urine was running down towards the second stage area where people with young children were watching bands. People with tickets were turned away due to overcrowding and now cannot obtain refunds as the organiser is refusing any contact from anyone or to release information to the ticket agencies. We believe that this was due to a failure in being able to accurately record the numbers of people present on the day. People were being carried out suffering "crush like symptoms". The number of people approved was set at 15,000 people initially, but this was reduced to 12,500. Then it was to be further reduced on the Sunday to 10,000 had it gone ahead due to the overcrowding. The entire site and infrastructure was in such a state that the second day of the festival was cancelled due to health and safety concerns. The council want to have their own inquiry into why it was such a disgrace. However as the council itself was involved in approving the plans and approving the number of people allowed we don't believe they will be looking into their own involvement and taking the responsibility necessary for their own actions. So we are calling for an independent inquiry to look into all parties concerned, and to find out why the festival was put in the hands of an underqualified and inexperienced organiser, who as a direct result of his actions put lives in danger.

  • Keep our communities moving!
I stand with all those charities and community groups that provide transport for a social purpose and community benefit. They enable people to live, learn and work independently, to stay fit and active, to access vital public services and participate in their community. This type of transport provision is Britain at its best with communities doing things for themselves and it must be cherished, protected and nurtured. I want the UK Government to work with its counterparts in the devolved nations to commit themselves to making sure that nobody suffers as a result of its proposed changes operator and driver licensing. I want them to commit to fully understanding the impact of their proposed changes so they can decide whether all this upheaval is worth it and choose another path or decide how they can support those communities most affected, especially our most vulnerable and isolated citizens.

  • Shifnal Town Centre - Revamp
Shifnal has seen unsustainable and disproportionate housing development over the past few years, putting a huge strain on a range of public services.. Transport infrastructure , Health care services , Education access and many other services are woefully under funded in Shifnal .. The local town council now plans to spend the majority of the CIL funding on a shared spaces enhancement plan, putting the public at risk.. These schemes have failed and seen numerous fatalities..This vital funding is desperately needed elsewhere.. Approximately 2.28% of Shifnal residents ( 171 people ) out of a population nearly at 7500 people voted for this.. Change is needed , but committing so much to serve so few is unacceptable.. This scheme was not approved by your elected officials , yet still continues ? Please sign this petition and ensure our local councils come up with intelligent, viable alternatives that will benefit ALL of our community...

  • Shut down Sarahah app
This app provides people to send anonymous messages to people. This is an open door for cyberbullying. we actively seek to stamp out bullying then seem content to let a vehicle where it is rife to exist. Kids are subject to peer pressure to have it as it's the latest thing and then these people are totally unaccountable for their actions. It's not right in a civilised society in my opinion. This app is dangerous especially for people with mental health issues.

  • Southport Says - Promote Safe Alternatives to Fracking
Evidence from other countries and from the only Fracking to be carried out todate in the UK at Preece Hall in Lancashire demonstrates the industry has a proven record of environmental failures. At Preece Hall, which was being Fracked by Cuadrilla in 2011, as many as 46 earth tremors and 2 official earthquakes were experienced resulting in the site being closed down. Evidence has also been considered by the governments own Environmental Audit Committee and as part of their 2015 report they concluded: "Despite the assurances from some that environmental risks can be safely accommodated by existing regulatory systems, an extensive range of uncertainties remains over particular hazards—to groundwater quality and water supplies, from waste and air emissions, to our health and to biodiversity, to the geological integrity of the areas involved, and from noise and disruption. Uncertainty about their significance is in part a reflection of the fact that fracking operations have yet to move beyond the exploratory stage in the UK. It is imperative that the environment is protected from potentially irreversible damage. • Fracking must be prohibited outright in protected and nationally important areas. • Full containment of methane must be mandated. • Fracking should be prohibited in all water source protection zones.

  • Save the National Musicians' Church
St Sepulchre’s, the National Musicians’ Church, is an integral part of British amateur and professional musical life. In its north chapel lie the ashes of the founder of the Proms, Sir Henry Wood, along with a Book of Remembrance inscribed with the names of deceased distinguished British musicians. The church has long been a beacon for professional musicians and for all those who passionately support church music of all traditions. The decision to permit no further rehearsals or concerts by external users seems to go against the church’s own stated intention to be a ‘a spiritual home for musicians, and a place where excellence in music is used to the glory of God’. We ask the Parish Council to reconsider their decision and work with representatives of musician users to find a mutually beneficial way forward.

  • STOP PEREGRINE DRIVE BECOMING A VEHICLE THROUGH ROAD
Peregrine Drive is a narrow residential cul de sac barely passable by a two way flow of traffic. This is obviously heightened in the evenings / weekends with residents parking on pavement kerbs. Peregrine Drive will not withstand the increased traffic associated with the new Uryside School c/w recycle centre / erection of 416 Dwelling houses and 4 off Commercial Units. This petition is important to protect the wellbeing of not only the children of Peregrine Drive but all children of Uryside School.

  • Karen | A Mother's Plight
Karen Perry | Wife | Mother | Full-time carer. Karen has been married to Marcus for 33 years, their marriage has seen two wonderful sons introduced to our world. Karen is a valued member of a Care Group which cares for Adults with severe learning difficulties such as Autism and Downs Syndrome, near Middlesbrough, where she works tirelessly to help others, always prioritising other peoples needs over her own. Karen is from Cape Town, South Africa. Her Grandfather moved there from Norfolk after his father had served in the Anglo Boer war as a blacksmith. It is where she met Marcus and love blossomed, and soon marriage bells rang. Karen and Marcus decided to move to the United Kingdom in 2006, so that Marcus could be nearer his Welsh family and their sons would have better education and career opportunities. Marcus is a qualified electrical engineer who was sadly diagnosed with a brain tumour, due to the effects of his illness Marcus has been unable to work for the past 7 years but retrained as a lecturer and started to work again briefly. He relapsed about a year ago and has had to rely on Karen for support and care since. It would have been easy for Karen to focus her full attention on her husband, his illness warranted it. However, Karen knew that her service users at the Care Center needed her too. It was never in doubt, Karen decided to split her time between caring for her husband and continuing her support for her service users. Sadly Karen now needs the support of others, the Home Office has decided that she is not entitled to or merits British Citizenship. The Home Office stated in their refusal letter that Karen had not proved proficiency in English even though she had passed the "Life in the UK Test" and was told that she wouldn't have to prove proficiency again. This was confirmed on the uk.gov website. After Karen sought assistance from her local MP, Alex Cunningham, the website was changed to reflect new conditions. Without citizenship, Karen is left in a state of limbo. This cannot be right, so I ask you to please show your love and support for Karen by signing our petition. Kind regards to all and thank you

  • Stop another needless NHS privatisation
NHS Professionals is an in-house employment agency for health professionals. All of its profits remain within the NHS. The agency is able to provide staff for significantly less than its commercial competitors, so it contributes to lower costs for the NHS units to which it provides staff. If this agency is sold off, its rates will have to increase, if only to provide a return for the new owners. Long term, this seems certain to increase financial pressure on the NHS in the form of higher agency costs for vital staff. The sell-off has been planned for some time, but has hardly hit the radar screen, and negotiations are being conducted now. However, the nature of the contract, the names of the bidders, and projected sale price are all cloaked in commercial confidentiality. It seems entirely possible that the deal could be concluded before Parliament returns after the summer recess, so there will be no opportunity for democratic scrutiny. The public, and Parliament, will be presented with a 'done deal', and the unit's competitors will heave a sigh of relief.
