• Parliamentary approval before privatising public assets
Privatisation, especially of the NHS will put lives at risk and will have seriously negative impacts for those on lower incomes. Schools and hospitals should be there for the benefit of all UK citizens and using them to generate profit will only undermine the amazing service they currently offer.

  • We support David Kiff and Wanwan Qiao's right to stay in the UK
This is important because the government should not be able to force a family to relocate especially if one spouse is married to a UK national. This puts stress on the expectant mother and is completely unacceptable. We support her right to stay in the UK.

  • Pay agency staff for bank holidays
Temporary staff are recruited to outsource. 9 out of 10 times there isn't any follow up from the agency liaising with staff to find out how they are getting on unless it's an email regarding their changes or contact by the agency changes or you yourself need to query your salary etc. Based on experience an speaking to other people that work for agencies they feel less important because once recruited they feel as though they are recruited to clean up what the permanent staff doesn't want to do and are sometimes left to be a self learner with no assessments once started. Staff enjoy the agency roles because of the flexibility and weekly income but are not listened too by the companies nor agency enough and feel that they should've atleast paid for bank holidays. E.g....If for any reason there's two bank holiday in one week staff are only paid for 3 days. A lot of staff are very committed to their jobs because this is how they feed their families but believe they/we should be paid full salary on bank holiday or half pay so that annual leave should not be considered to be used on this occasion but for other personal holiday bookings. Staff are neglected to often by agencies that are paid out a lot for their work/efforts when none of the agency staff even liaise with the workers to understand how hard working they work, what they do or upcoming issues giving agency stay a sense of belonging knowing they have full support. A lot of us are very flexible e.g. If It's summer holiday permanent staff or people without children often has priority in booking their annual leave over some of the temps when it should be the same. It's unfair an whilst am speaking from experience. Yes some agencies may be different but I do believe if this petition goes public a lot of staff will come forward with the same concerns.I believe it's happening in other agencies and we should be paid on bank holiday and be treated equal like permanent staff because we work just as hard.

  • Delays and lack of communication regarding spouse visa enquiries
It's important as genuine people's lives are in limbo. Some people are made physically sick with the long waiting of 7, 8, 9 even 12 months. With little or no response from the HO. MPs try to help in certain cases and they are also told to tell the sponsor to wait with no explanation other than "it's still being decided". I don't think they realise the anguish, heartache and trauma that some people experience. It's difficult to go about daily lives with no update from the HO when enquiring about the visa that you are applying for just to continue living a normal family life with children or husband. The public are not aware of the mounting costs the HO / Government are charging after you have paid your fee.

  • Remove Bridge Netting around Castle Forgate/Train Station
Despite the precautions taken to prevent animals from accessing these points the netting provisions have failed. Consequently, pigeons have gained access through torn holes and areas were netting has been inadequately installed. The result: Pigeons are getting trapped within the netting and dying appalling and wholly preventable deaths. These deaths occur through multiple routes: namely suffocation, starvation and dehydration. The suffering these animals must experience is unimaginable and is evident by the number of corpses littering the netting around Castle Foregate which raises additional public health concerns as the bodies decompose above our heads. Shrewsbury Town Council & Shropshire County Council please remove or enforce the removal of this uneccassary method of keeping away so called 'pests' : it isn't working and is resulting in unsightly, abhorrent, disturbing scenes in our town.

  • Do not renew Geoffrey Boycott's employment contract for his recent racist comment
We need to challenge casual racism, especially from respected figures, such as Geoffrey Boycott. Such attempts at humour, no matter where the offence takes place, undermine efforts to create a more equal society, in which respect is due to all. The BBC should apply its equality policies consistently, irrespective of how long a person has worked for them. The Black and White Minstrel Show, in which white performers appeared with blacked out faces, ended in 1978, because it was felt to be offensive and inconsistent with British values then. The BBC Code of Conduct states in Part 1.3 Treating everyone equally "We don’t tolerate discrimination of any kind, and we speak up when we see it. We’ll take disciplinary action against anyone who crosses the line, including firing them for gross misconduct, if it’s serious."

  • Fermanagh Save our Services
Our health is our most precious asset. Moves to close provision in South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen will force patients to undergo an unnecessary and lengthy journey to facilities which may be up to two hours drive away. There has been a huge amount invested (wasted on PFI) in our new hospital - it makes absolutely no sense to be paying huge sums for a fine hospital but with no services in it. After huge demonstration of people-power in response to the 'sham' pre-consultation exercise on Stroke services and the WHSCT six week consultation on brutal front-line health cuts it is clear the people of Fermanagh reject further service closures. Now that the WHSCT has performed a u-turn on its proposed emergency cuts we want to see a similar u-turn on the threat to SWAH's Stroke department. We also demand that those services not mentioned in the cuts consultation such as ENT, orthopaedics and Respiratory are maintained as they are and that Neonatal services which were subject to a temporary downgrading in 2014 but one which has never been lifted are restored to full operating status. In Fermanagh we pay our taxes and we work hard - longer hours than most parts of NI. We demand and deserve local, quality health services and decent social care provision for our most vulnerable. We demand local GP services that we can see quickly when needed and quality medical provision close enough to make the difference when we need it. Health services have been provided in our county for decades without a problem. It is only a problem now - we fear a crisis is being engineered to open the door for private medicine to make us pay for decent local services when we should be able to access them through the NHS. Hands off our NHS!

A new swimming pool in Bailey Park, would not only benefit the people of Abergavenny itself, but also the people of Monmouthshire and even those further afield. It would serve as a strong attraction for visitors to Abergavenny and provide happy memories for our future generations.
