• SAVE THE KIDS ACADEMY NURSERY!
They have taken ten years to build their nursery, preschool, before and after school and this year got their OUTSTANDING rating! My son has been there since 18months old and is leaving in Summer but I was hoping my daughter would be joining at 18 months also! Unless this renewed they will have to make many wonderful staff members redundant and local parents and families will have to search for these services elsewhere - and there is already a shortage!

  • STOP CHOPPING OUR TREES DOWN
Leabridge Road is ugly and filthy and the only part that makes me smile is that group of trees as I go home. Already 5 trees across the road have been chopped down and will not be replaced. There will be next to none mature trees left along the grey, dirty road. They will be replaced by nine small trees evenly spaced all around the new store totally destroying the only wall of green foliage along Leabridge Road. I don't understand. We go on about air quality/ pollution, unhealthy living environment so on and despite the very well known fact that trees not only combat pollution but add a sense of well being into our lives, we chop down the trees. Doesn't make sense. Please publicise it and help stop this nonsensical destruction.

  • LET CAMDEN BE CAMDEN
The chains are taking over Let Camden be Camden We are the owners of My Village, serving fresh daily food in a homely, rustic and handmade environment. For over 10 years we built My Village, with the help of all our family & friends, layer by layer, plank by plank, as a place which supports the community, its artists, hobbyists and love Offering my village walls for free to exhibit art work. This was not a mass produced 2nd world war cannon wheel, used by the British Army in the 2nd World War. The structure of the sitting area, we brought from a single English family, who had 80s, these pieces of wood, were recovered and restored. This farm was sold to their grandfather, and they discovered that these pieces of wood were from the Spain Armada war, and have been used in the farm in northern England, and neglected since the collapse, in the storm of 1984, we carefully restored the pieces of wood ourselves, and they are now hanging proudly in My Village Cafe. We don’t have WiFi we lose customers, base for social life, books, backgammon, socialise without the screen. The rest of My Village, is made from repurposed wood, from different sources, with equally interesting stories. We did this so we can weave history into the experience and bring it back to life for the Camden’s community. That’s why when you step into My Village you sense history and feel good Vibes. The journey has not been easy, we established My Village in 2006, in what was then a quiet part of Chalk Farm road, when the cafes and shops around us were struggling and shutting down. However, we survived and then later thrived thanks to the help of all our family, friends and customers. Now 10 year on, we are at risk of being shut down, and all that I described above, becoming forgotten history again. Most of Camden is being divided between a few private landlords, supported estate agents, and their aim is agree to raise all of the rent across Camden, making it impossible for independent small business owners to survive, your only chance of survival in this new world, is if you are major chain store, your own landlord or lucky enough to have a decent landlord who isn’t playing the game. This is not only about small business owners, but its also about the people and students of Camden not having access to affordable food & drink. The chains will reduce the quality, the originality of Camden, and raise its prices, making it just another conformist area of London, not letting Camden be Camden. As part of this wider game, our landlord has also started to demand an unrealistic rise in our rent, which would make it impossible for My Village to continue serving Camden. Camden is dominated by three landlords and Bruce estate agent and  they are rising the rent to unbearable and unsustainable levels. Their aim is to push out small business and attract big chains  to Camden . This would truly be terrible detrimental to this area . It would become another clone of many high street and loose the very uniqueness that has made it such a tourist magnet over so many decades.  If you believe that, its our duty to protect Camden, if you believe that Camden should be as free as possible from Chains, if you believe that Camden should keep its history, its originality, if you believe that my village and many like it, should have a right to survive,to keep Camden not be converted to another common, soulless business area, then please sign this petition and lend your support to this cause. • Justice for record holders
Natural Justice dictates that you don't punish someone for another's wrongdoing. These people should not have their achievements taken away on a whim of some bureaucrat whose predecessors didn't do something that he thinks they should have done. If anything the public will have less enthusiasm for Athletics if they think it's all about drugs.

  • FREE PARKING FOR WALSALL SHOPPERS
This year I got my first parking fine. Two letters arrived for eighty five pounds each. I heard for from various Managers on the Crown Wharf in Walsall that there is fifteen minutes grace, but when you are shopping it is very difficult to watch the clock. The first fine showed that I went over by a measly thirty six seconds, and the other one showed that I went over by two minutes. I was informed that If I paid the fines within fourteen days I would only be charged fifty pounds each. As I earn close to minimum wage I was gutted, but I gritted my teeth and paid them within fourteen days. Because of this awful situation it has spurred me on to instigate this long overdue petition. Other places in the Midlands have FREE parking, like Bentley Bridge, Merry Hill and Bilston! The twenty four hour Tesco in Walsall has two hours parking if you spend five pounds in the store. A staff member on the till told me that a customer recently said to her, 'After I did my shopping I wanted to have a meal in the café like I used to, but I wasn't able to as I would have gone over the two hour limit, so I had to eat elsewhere'. This week I spotted a car with a parking ticket on the windscreen in Walsall town centre. I was just about to take a photo to illustrate my petition when I heard the doors unlock. I saw a woman approaching me, I asked her if this was her car. It was, so I informed her that she had a ticket and she said in a disappointed voice "I wasn't long." She was happy for me to take the photo. We all need free parking in Walsall. This would be good for business! Customers could shop until they drop instead of always looking at their watches and then running to put money into the cash cows! Please sign this Petition. Thank you.

  • Removal of the Bedroom Tax from the 2017 Conservative Manifesto
Since the introduction of the Bedroom Tax, affected tenants have been forced to make a series of cutbacks in order to survive on a lower income. The Department for Work and Pensions estimated that 75% had to cut back on their expenditure on food, 46% reduced the amount they spent on heating and 33% spent less on travel. These are cutbacks that are not necessary - the harshness of the Bedroom Tax is the reason for such measures. 14-25% reduction in housing benefit is a large chunk of income to lose, especially when this money is essential to pay bills. Those losing housing benefit struggle to increase income levels after the tax; 50% of affected tenants wished to do this, by either finding employment or increasing their hours at their current employment, yet found difficulty in being able to do this.

  • Cuts to Ambulance Service
Following an accident involving a 20mth old child we required urgent medical assistance. We waited 35 minutes for the ambulance to attend. We were horrified to learn that the service for Yate & Chipping Sodbury had been drastically cut and that the ambulance had to come from central Bristol. The lack of ambulances available is putting the population of Yate & Chipping Sodbury at risk. We want to see adequate ambulances for our area with the appropriate response times. 35 minutes is simply not good enough.

  • Urgent please help to save The Railway Inn Fourstones
If you remember in the last petition I outlined that this is the village pub, its been neglected by a succession of owners - I understand the community and others have offered to buy the pub, its a community asset that over 200 people signed this petition last time to keep it. There has been little done to make this into a viable going concern, but the current owner has applied to have it converted into a house. Has anyone really tried to make this pub work by connecting to the needs of the local community or was it never the intent to continue to run this as a pub all all ? Does this sound familiar ? It’s sad that the pub has been closed for such a long time - dont let it end up being closed for good - We need your help to stop this - please log on to Northumberland County Council Planning Website and make your voice heard against new Planning application No: 18/02349/FUL COMMENTS MUST BE MADE BY 30th AUGUST. If Planning is denied and the pub reopens, we need a partnership between the community and the owner in making this work.

  • keep Siphewe in uk
Ms Siphiwe Moyo has been refused permission to stay in the uk, She has worked hard here for a long time, she has paid taxes and has been doing a very worthwhile caring job with a quadraplegic lady. Her appeal against this decision has failed and she has to appeal again. She has paid for her own legal costs throughout. I believe the decision to deport her is morally wrong, and I appeal to as many people as possible to sign this petition. Thank you

  • Save the Ceiling Mural at The Barge Inn, Honey Street
This gorgeous pub is just different. There is no other place like it in the world. It's where I learned the true meaning of the word 'community'. The mural captures its essence in a way nothing else physical can. If the mural is painted over, some of that magic will be lost. The visionary artist who painted this mural put his talent and love into the piece and captured the magic perfectly. Please help us to save it!

  • Keep our Award winning Cheddar Campsite open!
Our family business Petruth Paddocks Campsite generates around £1M annual revenue for Cheddar and the surrounding area. Owing to the Environment Agency reclassifying our land as a flood risk, Sedgemoor Council have served an enforcement notice to shut us down from next year - the land has not flooded in living memory! We have Appealed this decision and a full Public Inquiry is due to take place in 2018 costing both us and the Council around £75,000 each! Even Somerset's Civil Contingency Officer - the person ultimately responsible for the safety of those in Somerset has put in writing: "I am satisfied that the proposal for the continuation of use of the land for camping does not put the public at risk, provided the warning measures laid out in the report are adhered to. I have no objections to this proposal” Read about why our retrospective planning permission was REFUSED here: http://www.sedgemoor.gov.uk/Planning_Online/Details.aspx?App=17/15/00037 Comments have to be made by August 10th it only takes a couple of minutes - just click on this link: https://acp.planninginspectorate.gov.uk/ and enter the case number: 3170189 thanks! We have over 2000 positive reviews and last year won four awards - one even sponsored by the Council trying to shut us down! Petruth Paddocks is an environment where kids can be kids and where the rest of us can step off the hamster-wheel of everyday life and simply chill-out - whatever that means to whoever you are but usually around a camp-fire delivered to your flap! As a family Petruth Paddocks is our passion and vocation - it's what we were created to do and we love it! We have a wonderful team - 6 full-time and 10 part time and over 15000 customers a year - many of whom return year on year.
