• Honour the Deal: EIS, FELA National Strike
In 2011, the Scottish government proposed to harmonise pay, terms and conditions of all FE lecturers from Dumfries and Galloway all the way to Stornoway. We call on them to honour the deal, in order to protect the integrity of education and the rights of workers throughout Scotland. This strike is not just for lecturers in FE, it is for all workers throughout Scotland who refuse to accept negative changes to their terms and conditions and unfair pay.

  • Scrap Trafford Green Bin Tax
Trafford Council have stated that from the 5th June 2017 residents will be charged extra if they want their garden waste collecting. This is a highly objectionable move by the council, which is completely unjustified, undemocratic and particularly unfair on the frail and disabled, as they would struggle to transport rubbish to their local tip. Residents are already funding waste collection via council tax, so where does it stop - extra charges for rubbish collection, education, environment, sewage, policing, fire service, housing, transport and health? Sign and stop it now!

  • Croxteth Hall Community Action Group
Croxteth Hall and Estate is a vital part of our community and it is essential that Liverpool City Council begin the process of finding an organisation to take over the running of the Hall and Estate. The Estate is currently losing over £1m per year, diverting much needed funds from an already overstretched council budget. It is clear that the council no longer have the will or the resources to prevent this stunning building and estate from falling further into disrepair. Opportunities for the local community are being lost due the current status and the uncertainty surrounding its future. The local community do not want to see another Stonebridge Cross, a development that has still not been completed and has not provided the associated benefits that where originally promised to the local community. We want to see the Hall and Estate put to better use, to be made into a beacon for the area and Liverpool, with access for the local community and the creation of jobs, education, training and much needed investment.

  • Make all Bungalows & Ground Floor Flats for the Disabled
Did you know there are 1 in 5 people who are living with a disability. Ten million disabled people in Britain and five million are pension age. Most of them struggling to find suitable accommodation. I became disabled from an industrial accident at work over 25 years ago. I have to rely on benefits. Majority of Landlords and Estate Agents don't have accommodation for disabled people. You may be lucky if your Landlord allows the Council to adapt their properties. But the difficulty is that so many people are living in bungalows and ground floor flats who are fortunate enough to be able to walk, and are able to climb stairs in other places. There are less bungalows being built and is a major struggle to find ground floor flats suitable for disabled people. We need more adaptions and extra room for medical equipment and accessibility is very important. My friend and I are part-time wheechair users and struggled to find a place to live in that has a wet room and due to severe allergies we struggling to find a place that has not been recently decorated. Landlords use VOC toxic paint, new carpets which has formaldehyde in them, spray glues that are not suitable for asthmatics etc. Surely making it compulsory to have all bungalows adapted for disabled people and ground floor flats adapted for disabled people, will help millions of disabled people have a better quality of life as it causes us severe stress just trying to find a safe, suitable place to live. We have enough to cope with basic tasks everyone takes for granted. Please sign and support this Campaign. Thank you.

  • Save our trees on 'Green' lanes
The council ignore resident concerns and is intent on pressing forward despite the transformation of our Winchmore hill into an ugly, congested, concrete jungle with decimated natural beauty and failing business. Enfield council presented false statements and visual plans of green lanes in their 'consultation for the cycle lane scheme - on the drawings no mention was made of tearing up and ripping out ten mature trees along our green lanes to date - and more to come. The residents of Winchmore hill did not agree to the replacement of beautiful mature trees with grey slabs of concrete - 'improving public spaces ' in the council's words. No effort has been made to protect the trees at all despite claims to the contrary . Worryingly letters have been put in local communications to inform residents of more trees 'necessary' to be removed . These were not presented as needing removal in the 'consultation' plans. We live in Winchmore hill because we chose to live amongst greenery and historical mature trees.

  • Save electric car charging spaces.
If you have made the decision to buy an electric vehicle for the good of all, then the government should do all they can to prevent non/electric vehicles from parking in these very limited spaces. It is akin to akin to an electric vehicle parking and blocking a petrol pump at a garage forecourt.
